-Chapter Eleven-
"I'll drop her off at the next town", said Snyder sighing.
"No, you will not", said Reverend.
"What? Your about to blow up and could loose control at any moment", snapped Snyder.
"I ate, I unlike my counter parts I am not entirely fond of their taste. I have to be close to starving in order to go that far. But it's not that I will eat the human kind.....", Reverend fell silent and she changed the subject, "My hand is the only thing that won't ever quit twitching", said Reverend looking at it.
Snyder stared at it as it flinched as if the muscles had no control over themselves in small tiny movements. "How do you do it?", asked Snyder.
"Do what?", asked Reverend going to the horse and rummaging through the leather bags for bandages.
"I don't know....resist. I mean the guild is full of mortal man and you went off so well not even caring", said Snyder.
"Even an animal isn't stupid enough to attack a human alone when he is surrounded by many more members of his own. Besides I had a already suppressed and satisfied my fill", replied Reverend pulling a bowl and then filled it with water setting it in the fire to boil. Right in the center.
"Are you nuts!?", hissed Synder baring his teeth and snatched her hand back out. Reverend pulled it from his grip with forceful ease. Her nose crinkled, "Don't think I can't kill halflings!", she hissed menacingly rasping.
Reverend clenched her teeth, "I apologize", she said quietly looking towards the fire.
Synder sat there hands hanging down between his bent legs. He glanced at Reverend as she removed her hat from her head and ruffled her firey blonde orange hair which was in a loose braid, messy and with little care. Simply to keep it out of the way. Normally vampires were deep burnet or had a blue black hair color. Yet there were your blondes and grey haired ones too.
Yet Snyder had to admit he hadn't met one who had this hair color.....nor the golden eyes with a tint of bronze hazel in them. A vampire's eyes were always red, always. But Reverend's weren't. Snyder knew this. It was a dominant trait. So how were Reverend's eyes so bright?
"Is there a reason as to why your eyes aren't red?", asked Snyder.
Reverend smirked, "Pft! I stared at the sun", said Reverend.
Snyder raised his eyebrows, "And your hair?", asked Snyder.
Reverend glanced at Snyder, "Why all the questions?", she asked warningly.
Snyder shrugged, "I'm working with you, I might as well get to know you. Besides a common vampire doesn't have that hair color", said Snyder.
Reverend sighed annoyed, "Is it fair to say I would prefer not to answer that question?", she asked.
Snyder nodded, "Yes......but I would still like to know. I still don't entirely believe you are a vampire vampire. The hair, the eyes they don't fit. Your nails, skin, it doesn't fit the usual profile and classification of an average vampire", said Snyder.
"So I'm being judged? Classifying vampires now as a breed. The world has changed", she sighed not responding and dodged Snyder's attempt for an answer.
Reverend pulled out the pot of water setting it down her skin burning again but she set it down on the ground of a stone and dipped the cloth into the tin bowl. Snyder winced pulling back, "Quit it! It stings!", he snapped.
Reverend didn't say anything but simply was more careful. Snyder felt her hand hold his chin firmly suddenly as he naturally jerked away and she snapped his face towards her's so she could see. "Quit it! I'll heal!", he snapped.
"In two days, that doesn't mean you aren't probed to infection", warned Reverend.
Snyder grumbled, "So now you are playing nurse", he muttered.
"Hm....think of it as whatever you wish", replied Reverend.
Reverend flicked her hand and middle finger feeling her ring cut to her bone and Snyder saw her raise her hand. "What are you doing?", he asked eyeing it.
Reverend didn't respond but simply pressed the tip of her finger nail ever so lightly hovering almost over the wound. The blood dripped onto the cut. Just a drop. Snyder felt it. But as Reverend removed her finger standing flicking her hand again and closed the small knife in the silver ring she wore on her pointer finger, Snyder felt his head. The cut was gone.
Reverend picked up her hat.
