Chapter 10
Whitesong let out a small growl as she crouched, looking around. Stormpaw blinked intently from the branch she was perched upon, waiting for Whitesong to get distracted.
She shook the branch lightly, and watched a few leaves flutter down on the other side of her mentor, who sniffed at them suspiciously. Stormpaw grinned with satisfaction and jumped, forcing Whitesong to the ground as she landed on her shoulders.
The white she cat quickly got up, panting heavily. "That's enough training for today," she rasped, shaking her pelt. A bit of dirt and a few leaves fell to the ground. Stormpaw shrugged.
"That was fun! I'll meet you at camp, Icepaw wanted to hunt with me." Whitesong nodded wearily as Stormpaw raced off.
The forest seemed to blur around her as she ran back to camp. Her paws were barely skimming the ground, quickly bringing her towards camp where Icepaw was waiting.
"Bet I'll catch more than you!" He teased.
"No way, I'm definitely going to catch more!" She exclaimed. He purred with amusement, his tail flicking.
"Let's go."

A light rain began to fall. Stormpaw lay sprawled out on her back next Icepaw. Distant thunder rumbled gently from afar.
"Today was nice." Icepaw murmured. "I wish everyday could be like this."
Rain began to fall harder, streaming through their fur.
"We should probably go before the storm gets too bad," Stormpaw replied, getting to her paws again.
Yowling broke out from the border, followed by angry screeching. The two apprentices bolted towards the ShadowClan border, where it seemed to be coming from.
"GET OFF OUR TERRITORY!"
"Sounds like Featherfall," Icepaw muttered. The two broke out of the trees. He and Stormpaw weren't the only ones to hear it though, for Hollypaw came racing from the lake.
"What's the deal?" She pants. Icepaw nodded towards the two patrols.
Stormpaw sighed. "Another border skirmish." The three watched as the two patrols yowled at each other, waiting for when they would be needed.
"Prey stealers!" ShadowClan's deputy, Needlewhisker hissed, his tail lashing.
"For the last time, it was the traitor Thunderheart!" Silvershadow protested. One of the ShadowClan warriors leapt up, only to be met with one of ThunderClan's. The small form of Crookedtail could barely be seen behind the patrol.
Icepaw stood up. Hollypaw placed a paw on his shoulder. "Don't." He glanced at her hesitantly, then took a step back.
A triumphant yowl rose from the ShadowClan deputy. Something heavy dropped onto the ground, and the ThunderClan patrol stared with shock and horror.
This time all three apprentices bounded over. The patrol parted to let them past.
What lay there was the unmoving form of Featherfall.
Welp.
