Chapter 9
Stormpaw blinked, staring intently at the mouse she was stalking. It had been two moons since she had started training, and since she had last seen Thunderheart. She was starting to think he was dead, but she had a strong feeling he was still out there.
She crept forward, and leapt. The mouse squealed before falling limp as she gave it the killing bite. She picked it up and began to walk back to camp.
She stopped to dig up a small cache of prey she had caught earlier. As she leaned down, Icepaw padded out of the undergrowth. Something burned in Stormpaw's heart that she was unsure of.
"I thought I heard you." He mewed. "Hollypaw and I were just heading back to camp from battle training. Let me help you with some of that." He leaned down and took a vole, a mouse and a small blackbird.
"Thanks," Stormpaw mumbled through her mouthful of prey.
"Anytime," He replied. They walked back to camp together in silence. "So— uh... Maybe you'd want to go hunting sometime?"
"Sure." She responded. "Maybe —"
"Tomorrow?" He suggested. His ears twitched.
"Tomorrow." She agreed. She looked away and smiled, and happily they went back towards camp, matching each other's pace step for step.
Sorry for not updating. And sorry again, I seriously need a beginning to the Ice-Storm ship. Sorry for the third time for being so short.
