Bracken Kit walked into the nursery and sat beside his mother GoldenStreak. GoldenStreak then ran her tongue across his chest. he dared to ask " where is Snow Kit?". GoldenStreak's eyes went clouded as she tried to remember who he was talking about. Bracken Kit knew his mother got this look whenever he mentioned Snow Kit. He got up then left outside was Tawny Kit. He shook his head Tawny Kit got this sad look in his eyes. Night kit, Blaze Kit, Golden Kit and Morning Kit came over and sat with them. Night Kit looked Tawny Kit in the eyes "maybe , uh she might show up sometime". Golden Kit curled her tail around her brother's.  Morning Kit tried to cheer Tawny Kit up " hey we are five moons soon we will be apprentices". Night Kit and Blaze Kit followed and forced themselves to smile and nod. Bracken Kit expected to see Tawny Kit smile he loved to talk with Morning Kit about being apprentices. DuskStorm came over and dropped a mouse off. he gently knocked Tawny Kit on the head to remind him of what he said. DuskStorm then went into the nursery to talk to GoldenStreak. Bracken Kit quickly ate a little of the mouse then passed it to Tawny Kit. they passed it around the circle until it came back to Bracken Kit. Bracken Kit looked up he saw WitheredRose come in the entrance with LilyPaw her Apprentice. He thought that could be me some day he puffed out his chest a little. Blaze Kit and Night Kit came and pressed against Tawny Kit's sides and lifted him up. "how about we play Fire clan and Tsunami clan?" Morning Kit suggested. Tawny Kit nodded slightly. Morning Kit of course demanded to be leader of Tsunami clan. Bracken Kit was then appointed Fire clan leader by Morning Kit of course. "and I want Blaze Kit and Tawny Kit to be in my clan" Morning Kit demanded.  so the kits split off from each other. Bracken Kit sat down in a heroic way. "Night Kit I mean NightTail go tell Golden um Pelt to come here". Golden Kit then walked over with Night Kit strutting. "why have you called me BrackenStar" Golden Kit said. BrackenStar! the word ringed in his ears. " we are going to patrol our border I heard Tsunami clan.." he paused to spit like his father DuskStorm spat when ever anyone mentioned Snow Kit. " are getting dangerously close to the border line." he finished the burst into a fit of giggles. After he was interrupted by Morning Kit scolding him and telling him to act like a leader GoldenStreak called them into the nursery.
