Chapter Twelve
Third POV
Draco and Harry snuggled on the couch for a while, occasionally chatting, until Severus came back to the living room, having finished his potion in the lab. Severus gracefully sat down next to Harry, while the submissive smiled at his two dominants, but frowned when he remembered Tom was still working. "Do you know when Tom will be done working?" Harry curiously looked at both of his mates, and they shrugged, making Harry giggle. "I believe I can answer that." Harry gasped and smiled, jumping up to hug Tom. "My Lord!" Tom and Severus were startled by Harry's exclamation while the submissive giggled and Draco smirked. Arms still around Tom, Harry's eyes glinted with obvious mischief. "I've decided to help you in your plunder for world domination! Dumbledore can roll over in his grave." Draco snickered behind his hand and Tom's eyes narrowed suspiciously. "Draco, what did you do?" Draco's eyes widened and he played the innocent act, which only Harry could pull off successfully. Tom's left eyebrow rose, while Severus turned to stare at Draco, and he exaggeratedly swallowed. "Umm, I may have, said you... wanted to rule the world?" Draco ended in more of a question than a statement and smiled sheepishly. Tom and Severus groaned while Harry giggled secretly. Harry let go of Tom and jumped upwards as high as he could, exasperated when he couldn't even reach Tom's shoulder. Another thought struck Harry and he giggled again, all three of his mates starting to get worried over their giggling mate, for a matter of different reasons. Harry's hair grew white as he grabbed Tom's shoulder and pushed it down, surprising Tom. The mates filed away the fact that their submissive was a metamorphmagus as Harry swooped in for a quick peck on the cheek before jumping away from Tom, giggling madly. "Draco told me what you actually do, and I would gladly help now that I know. I'm sorry I interfered with your plans so many times." Tom's eyes softened and he pulled Harry back into a hug, making him flinch slightly. Tom's arms tightened around Harry's waist, and Harry pouted when he found his feet were no where near touching the ground. "Why do I have to be so short?" Harry let his head roll back, and his mates all chuckled. "What's so funny? I was already small, I didn't want to loose even more inches." Harry crossed his arms and pouted more, but gasped when he began to grow. Tom quickly set the submissive down as Harry grew to be the same height as him. Surprisingly, the clothes he was wearing still fit, but that could also be because he was dangerously thin. All of the mates felt a pain in their chests at the sight of their mates' malnourishment, which reminded Tom of the parchment inside of his robe pocket. "That reminds me..." Anger started to blaze in Tom's eyes, making Harry whimper. Tom walked over and gently kissed Harry's forehead before taking out the parchment and handing it to Severus. "Read this." Severus quietly took the parchment and silently read the scrawl, tension building as he did. With a snarl, Severus thrust the paper into Draco's hand, who quickly read it as well, not being able to stop himself from transforming, as he did not have mastery of his inheritance quite yet. Harry literally shrunk, going back to his natural size, knowing this was the time. They were going to beat him; he needed to escape. Tom, Severus, and Draco all turned to Harry when they saw him stringing, but this only caused him to bolt. Because of their immense anger at Vernon, they blinked and reacted too slow. Harry was running as if he was a deer, already out the door, following his instincts. Severus transformed and Tom sprinted out, Draco following a step behind. Upon reaching the outside, they spotted Harry running through the gardens to the back of the manor and the trio raced off. Harry's blood rushed in his ears, making him unable to hear what his mates were yelling, and his deer ears were flat against his head in fear. A few stressful moments later, Harry broke the tree line of the forest to the back of the manor just as his mates were leaving the gardens, and felt an immense sense of peace and safety. The forest had just accepted Harry as it's Nature Lord, and would do anything to keep him safe, from anything at all. The woods began to hum with protectiveness, and Harry drank it up, knowing that this forest would never betray him. It was his friend, the feeling told him. Harry tried to calm his scared heart and mentally just wished to be safe, for the forest to show that it would truly never hurt him. Accepting his challenge, the trees' branches moved in a way to immediately block Tom, Severus, and Draco from getting through, just as they made it to the line. Frustrated with his obvious mistake, Tom growled at the trees keeping him from his mate and began lashing out at them with magic. Swirling a dangerous red, Tom's magic attacked three different ways- one third seeped into the branches and decayed the wood, one third became like fire and weakened the branches as they burned, and the last third were swords of magic, slicing the branches wherever they touched. This would have been a great way to off the trees- if they were not being magically fed by a Nature Lord. They just grew right back or fought off the decay. Severus snarled at the trees, but stayed back, sensing Harry's magic feeding the branches. Draco swiped at the trees, but soon his hands started to bleed from the splinters, and tears filled his eyes. He had just lost his submissive, for how long, he couldn't be certain. What if Harry never came back? He would've never even gotten to spend a day with his tiny mate, learning about him, talking with him, and just overall basking in his presence. A few tears dripped down from his eyes, and Severus quickly came over to console him, not wanting more than one of his mates to be overly emotional. Tom just stared angrily at the branches as they stayed blocking his way. Tom only wanted to protect his mate and the fact that Harry was one of his horcruxes only made it worse. How could he be the dominant to three people, if he couldn't even protect one for a single day? How would he be able to help the Wizarding World, if he could not even help one of his mates?
Harry silently watched from the top branches of an oak tree a hundred yards away as his mates' forms grew despaired and they trudged back to the manor. Harry wiped his eyes, feeling terrible. He had been with his mates for less than two hours and they already wanted to hurt him. Was he such a freak that no one could not think of hurting him? Harry guessed he was just too unlovable, too freaky to accept. He cried himself to sleep that night, just laying on the branch in the cool night air, overly large clothes only giving him a dash of warmth.
