Love is a feeling
merely fleeting
only time can tell
how long you'll stay
together as the days
pass you by,
soon you'll seperate
and cry
once you realise
how love is blind.

But once the mask
slips off your eyes
the facade once cast
now crumbled to dust;
as you see for yourself
how feelings come and go
merely in an instance,
before you'd even know.

No amount of tears shed
is strong enough to bring him back;
he's changed, God knows why,
but all he does is make you cry.

Maybe it's age, maybe andropause,
all these haphazard excuses
you deduce as reasons for his actions,
fooling yourself to believe
that the man you once knew
is still the man before you.

But deep down inside
you know he's changed
not for better, but for worse
and there's just no reverse.

At this point, throwing in the towel
when all efforts seem futile
seems the most viable.

But like the fool that you are
you delude yourself
taking the blame for everything
when it's never been your fault
that this relationship crumbled,
shattering the years of love
stored in your vault.
