Chapter Two
Amy woke in a cold sweat. Damn...this happens every time after I sleep... Amy wiped the sweat from her forehead and stepped out of bed. She saw her uniform shirt and scarf laying atop her jeans. She grabbed them and got dressed. She glanced in the mirror and saw her window. There was a black shadow lurking in her view of the window. She spun around, but it was gone. She sighed. I'm loosing my mind... She groaned as she grabbed her backpack and pulled her boots on. She joined her mom in the dining room. "Morning, Ames. You should have enough time to eat. you're earlier than yesterday." Jessica chuckled, making Amy sigh.
"It's fine I'll grab something on the way." Amy left the house and followed the sidewalk slowly. She groaned slightly as the waves of pain passed through her stomach. No rats during the day...and if I don't eat soon, I'll go ballistic... Her eyes followed the people wondering the streets in the faint light, not seeing a single person she could take. But there was one place she could go, for emergencies; A blood bar, and, luckily, there was one downtown, about two miles from her school. She instantly changed directions and ran, slipping in between the few people in her way.
Amy grabbed her stomach as she leaned on the blood den. She stepped inside and glanced around. "Your teeth?" A man stood next to her, taller than a building.
"Fine." Amy rolled her eyes and hissed as her teeth shot out.
"Continue." The man said with a nod. Amy approached the bar as the barkeep smiled at her.
"What's the payment here?" Amy crossed her arms.
"Nothing. We are a sharing community. Your payment is your teeth." The bartender smiled, his fangs showing brightly. Amy opened her mouth, her fangs shined in the dim light. "Marvelous!" The bartender pointed to a curtain behind Amy. "Go wait in there, you'll be fed in no time." The bartender said happily. Amy sighed and walked through the curtains. There were bright red leather couches surrounding the walls. She sat down on the end of the couch and closed her eyes. She felt a shiver down her spine, and opened her eyes. They changed to red as a young man walked into the room. She followed him closely as he sat beside her.
"Aren't you kind of young?" Amy sighed.
"I'm fifteen, Same age your body looks." The man shrugged.
"What do you know about my body?" Amy crossed her arms.
"I'm just assuming."
"Is that a hobby of yours, or something?" Amy inhaled deeply.
"Not really, I just like to know who's going to sink their teeth into my forearm." The man chuckled.
"Well I'm Amy Compton. And it's not just my body that's fifteen. I'm kinda new at this whole vampire thing."
"Dante Peralta..." He held out his hand. Amy shook it and pulled back. "Is it your first time being here?"
"Yeah, the only person I've fed on, was the first, and I killed her." Amy shuddered.
"You aren't allowed to drain us here." Dante chuckled.
"I know, I kinda figured." She scoffed. "Is it your first time here?"
"No, I've been here for over a year. Nothing better to do, and I'd rather be willingly drank from, than pulled into a dirty alley and be left for dead." Dante shrugged.
"Understandable..." Amy looked at him, her red eyes pulsing like a twitching nerve.
"Here..." Dante pushed a razor blade into the crease of his arm and cut deep enough to where the blood seeped down his arm. Amy sighed and grabbed his arm. She sunk her fangs into his arm. He groaned in pain as she pulled away. She pushed her hair over her ear and looked down. "What?" Dante held his arm, the blood saturating his fingertips.
"Nothing...i'll see you..." Amy wiped her mouth, grabbed her bag, and ran out of the Blood Den.
Amy ran through the high school doors and to the bathroom. She glanced around for girls, and walked to the sink to wash her mouth. Her stomach rumbled as she turned the water red with blood. Dammit, i didn't drink enough... Amy grabbed her bag as two girls walked into the bathroom. She glanced towards them.
"It's her, the creepy, silent girl." They giggled. Amy shoved their shoulders as she walked between them to get out of the bathroom. She ran to class as the bell rang.
Amy unlocked her locker as the last bell rang. She grabbed her bag and filled it with her books and homework. She slammed the locker and spun towards the exit. She noticed a familiar face standing by the exit, laughing with a few students. It was Dante. Oh, lord. Amy held her hand over her face as she walked by, and out of the school hallway. She sighed deeply as the afternoon sun scorched her face. Amy started to walk, but felt a hand on her shoulder.
"Amy?" She froze, and tried to keep walking, but he spun her around to face him. "It is you! I knew you saw me, too." Dante chuckled. Amy stayed silent, staring at him. "Sorry for scaring you, I just thought you didn't hear me." Dante shrugged.
"I know you." Amy shrugged. She brushed his hand off of her shoulder and started to walk.
"So when were you turned, Hm?" He asked as he caught up to her.
"Around three months ago." She muttered, pacing a bit faster.
"Have you seen the elders yet?
"W-what?" She stopped abruptly. "Who are the elders?"
"They're the oldest vampires in this area. They run everything, any little mistake you make, they'll know." Amy stood in silence for a moment, taking in the information.
"Well okay, then. Thanks for the info, but I gotta get home..." Amy turned to leave, but grabbed her stomach in pain.
"Amy?" Dante grabbed Amy's arm, but she looked back at him with a hiss.
"don't touch me." She growled. He pulled away with fear in his eyes.
