Chapter Three

Dante backed away slightly. "Are you okay?" Amy shook her head as she looked back down at the sidewalk. "Alright, come on." Dante sighed as he grabbed her bag and led her away from the school. Dante sat her down in an alleyway as the sun went behind a building, darkening their vision. "All right, here." Dante held out his wrist as he gazed out of the alley, watching for people.
"Th-that's not allowed. The vampire rules say eat from a blood den, or drain entirely." Amy panted. "And, I'm NOT killing you."
"You won't be able to move soon, if you don't eat even just a drop. So ignore the vampire rules, and worry about your damn self." Dante leaned on the wall behind Amy and moved his arm closer to her face.
"I can't..." She muttered.
"Just do it before people notice." Amy held Dante's hand, and bit into his wrist. He moaned as she began to drink his blood. She pulled away with a sigh. Blood dripped down her chin. Dante chuckled and pulled his hand back. Amy stood up and wiped away the blood. She snatched her bag away from Dante and left the alley with him, to get home. Dante stopped in front of Amy's house as she joined him at the curb. "You alright?"
"Mhm, but my stepmom would kill me if she saw you with me. I'll see you." Amy smiled.
"Bye." Dante waved as he walked away from her. She climbed the porch steps, and opened the front door to see the dining table, nobody in sight. She sighed and rushed into her bedroom. She pulled out her homework and sat at her desk to work.

Amy awoke to tapping on her window. She sat up from her desk and stumbled toward it. "Dante?" She whispered as she unlocked the window. Amy backed up as Dante climbed through the window. "What are you doing here?! My parents will be up any moment." Amy whispered.
"Walk with me to school." Dante smiled.
"What?" Amy rubbed her eyes.
"Walk with me to school. I mean it, I think we'd make good friends."
"Why's that? I could seriously hurt you." Amy looked down and saw she was still in her uniform.
"That's just it. I could feed you, and in return, you be my friend. Deal?" Dante held out his hand to show a bandage over his wrist from the afternoon before. Amy sighed and shook his hand.
"Deal." She whispered. Amy's head jotted to the door as she heard footsteps. Amy looked back and Dante and pushed him towards the window. He looked her in the eye as she was two inches from his face. She smiled and shoved Dante out of the window. She closed the window and locked it. He walked away as knocking came across her door.
"Amy? I saw your light on all night." Amy's stepmom said as she entered the room.
"Sorry, I was doing homework most of the night, and I fell asleep." Amy shrugged as she looked at Jessica.
"Well if you don't hurry you're gonna be late." Jessica chuckled as she left the room. Amy brushed off her uniform and examined it for dirtiness; Nothing. She grabbed her shoes and pulled them onto her feet. She stuffed her books and homework into her bag and pulled it out of her room. She waved to her stepmom as she left the house and walked out onto the sidewalk.
"Hey." Dante waved as Amy approached him.
"Hi." She chuckled. Dante followed her as they walked along the sidewalk to their school.

Amy opened her locker and pulled out her math textbook.
"You have math first period?" Dante leaned on a locker next to Amy's.
"Yeah, it sucks, I hate math." Amy chuckled and shut her locker.
"I hate it, too, but I'm actually really good at it." Dante shrugged.
"I couldn't do correct math if my life depended on it. You know what? Maybe, you could tutor me? Please?" Amy pleaded.
"Yeah, I could...wanna meet somewhere after school today or something?" Dante smiled.
"Uh...sure. Where?" Amy asked as the bell rang.
"There's a cafe about a block from here, Retro Café." Dante grinned as he turned and left Amy standing by her locker. Amy ran towards her class and pushed into it with the rest of the class.

Amy threw her bag over her head as she walked out of the school. She started to walk, but felt a slight pain in her stomach. No...not now... Amy powered through the pain and started walking to the café. She looked through the glass door and saw Dante sitting at a corner table. she approached him and sat down across from him. "Why...here?" Amy moaned quietly.
"It's just a café. What's wrong?" Dante sipped his coffee.
"I'm just a little hungry." Amy shrugged.
"Shouldn't we get out of here, then?" Amy shook her head.
"You wanted to be here with me for a reason. I don't want to ruin it because I'm hungry." Amy crossed her arms.
"You'll pounce on me if we don't leave. We can talk after you eat." Dante threw his money onto the table and led Amy out of the café.
"It's too bright out for us to just hide in an alley." Amy moaned quietly and held her stomach.
"I've got a few more tricks up my sleeve. I've been doing this a while, you know." Dante led Amy around a few corners and into a building. She leaned against the wall while Dante talked to someone over the counter. A moment passed, and he rushed over to her and offered his hand for support. She took it and followed him around a corner. He took her toward two elevators and helped Amy into the empty one. She fell into his arms with the weight of her whole body. He pulled off her backpack and threw it over his shoulder. The doors opened on their floor, and he helped her out into the hallway. They walked a while, until he stopped in front of a door, and slid a key card into a slot, unlocking it. She fell onto the bed as Dante shut the door. He sat next to her and held out his arm.
"No...wait..." Amy opened her eyes to show they were already red.
"The hunger works fast." Dante scoffed.
"I think I should try something. Try to work through the pain and see how long I could last without dying..." Amy shrugged.

"Are you crazy? If you even tried feeding a little out of me after that, you wouldn't be able to stop. Now...just eat, please." Dante shook his arm impatiently. Amy bit into his arm and moaned. After what felt like hours, she pulled away and laid back on the bed. Dante held his bleeding arm and looked back at her. "Amy?" Dante frowned. Amy sprung up.
"I'm okay. Just processing." She smiled.
"Amy?" Dante turned more.
"I promise. I'm just confused. Why is my hunger suddenly spiraling out of control?" Amy asked.
"Well, you only drained one person, so that made your hunger get slightly more progressive. Then, the past day you drank from me more than twice, so that's advancing your hunger I'm guessing." Dante shrugged.
"You know a lot about vampires. And you're really good, too." Amy stared at the blood dripping from Dante's arm.
"Amy?" She looked over at him.
"Yeah?" She whispered.
"You okay? You're zoning out on me." Dante shrugged.
"I'm great." Amy licked the blood dripping from his wound and smiled.
"You're so weird." Dante chuckled. Amy smiled and flopped back onto the bed. Dante patted her thigh. "We should stay here tonight."
"No! I wanna go home!" Amy sprung up and complained.

"You can't. You're drunk out of your mind with most of my blood. You'll have to stay here tonight." Amy stood up and walked around the hotel bed. She turned to look at Dante.
"What?" She chuckled.
"Nothing. You need to sleep this off." Dante stood up and held Amy's hand. He pushed her towards the bed, but she pulled him on top of her as they fell to the bed. She laughed as he rolled off of her. She looked over at him with a grin. Dante sighed deeply. "You're drunk." he scoffed. Amy grabbed his arm and pulled him closer, his head right above hers. "You're out of your mind." Dante pulled away and stood up.
"What did I do?" Amy sat up.
"Just sleep. I'll be right here." Dante walked into the bathroom and shut the door. Amy stood up and opened the curtains to the balcony. Dante left the bathroom to see Amy staring blankly out of the balcony glass door. "Amy?" He said as he approached her.
"Yeah?" Amy shrugged.
"I'm tired. You can stay up or whatever, I don't care, but I'm going to bed." Dante crawled into the bed and pulled the blanket over his head. Amy chuckled and opened the balcony door. She walked out into the cool night air as the door shut behind her.

She looked up at the night sky full of stars and a full moon. She smiled and closed her eyes. The night air surrounded her, blowing her hair over her face. Amy looked around at the city around her. It was lit up like Christmas lights. she looked back inside and saw Dante sleeping. She jumped up onto the Railing and sat on top of it. She sighed and pushed herself off.
