Chapter Four
Amy landed atop a roof, sighing deeply. Fun... She chuckled and gazed around. she saw a taller building next to the roof. She jumped, and shot into the sky. She tumbled onto the other building and smiled. A skyscraper a ways away caught her eyes. She grinned and started running. She jumped as high as the clouds, and grew closer to the skyscraper. Amy landed with a roll on the skyscraper. "I didn't know I could do this. It's so much fun." She whispered to herself. Amy turned back to the hotel. "Big distance, but much fun." She began running towards the balcony, and jumped into the night sky. She grew closer and closer until her feet slammed into the balcony. She chuckled and looked into the hotel room. Dante lay asleep, quietly. Amy walked inside and shut the door. She sat at the end of the bed and laid back. She stared up at the ceiling and rested her hand on her chest. Her heart hadn't beat, since that night. She closed her eyes and re-imagined that night.
Amy walked along the sidewalk to her home. It was late, and yet another study session at the library failed. They bailed on her, and she had waited for almost three hours. The sun had already set, and the streetlights were glowing orange. Amy held onto her backpack tightly as she walked. She felt a hand grab her arm as she was pulled into an alley. She felt a hand glide over her mouth, and pain in her arm. She kicked, and pushed, but nothing worked. The man pulled away and into her sight. He had red eyes, dark hair, pale skin, and blood dripping from his thin lips. Is that my blood? Amy's hand rose up to her neck as the guy wiped his lips. She sat up and looked at her wrist. it was bleeding from two deep holes just below her wrist. The man grabbed her arm, sunk his teeth into her skin, and made more holes. She felt herself paralyzed as he bit down harder. The pain was unbearable. Amy groaned slightly as the man pulled away. "You should have died by now." The man questioned. Amy stared at the blood dripping from her arm. "Oh, you're too strong. You'll have to be turned." The man pushed Amy down onto the pavement and chuckled. She heard a soft click, and watched as he brought a knife close to her face, tracing it across her cheek lightly. He grinned evilly and pressed the tip of the knife into his palm, cutting deep across his hand. He dropped the knife, pulled her mouth open, and squeezed a fist over her mouth. She felt the blood hit her tongue and tried to move to push him off. It was no use, her body felt numb and tingly. He opened his palm to show the wound already healing, and pulled Amy to her feet. She felt like jello. "You have about an hour til you pass out." The man threw Amy over his shoulder and, suddenly, she felt a rush of cold air, and opened her dreary eyes to see the ground getting further and further away. She opened her mouth to scream, but no noise left her mouth. Suddenly, he landed, seemingly without any weight. He carried her into a building and laid Amy onto a metal table. She tried to sit up, but her body disagreed. She heard talking in the next room, then heard someone growing closer.
"Don't worry, honey, you'll wake up feeling as amazing as ever. Just sleep." A different man said with a sweet smile. She saw the man disappear from her vision as she fell to sleep.
Amy woke with a gasp. She felt different somehow, stronger, faster. She sat up from the metal table and looked around. Two men were standing by a closed double door. She jumped off the table as the man from before walked through the double doors.
"You're awake, and right on time, too." The man chuckled.
"F-F-For what?" Amy stuttered.
"For the turn. You were asleep for a week." The man crossed his arms.
"I'VE BEEN HERE A WEEK?!" Amy shouted.
"Yep." The man nodded.
"I gotta go home. My stepmom's gonna kill me." Amy looked around for her bag.
"You go home, your mom's the one who'll be killed. You'll have to eat first, or every time you pass a human, you'll eat them." The man explained.
"What? What am I?! What did you do to me?!" Amy's voice altered to a low, deep growl.
"I turned you. You're a vampire now. Find someone to eat, or you'll be sorry." The man smiled before a cloud of smoke exploded and he disappeared.
"What?" Amy found her backpack and looked up at the double doors. They were opened to reveal the door to the outside. Amy looked at the guards. They motioned for her to leave, so she did. She opened the door to the outside, it was dark and pouring down rain. Poofs away like the god damned genie and acts like he knows everything...What do I do?
People walked back and forth with umbrellas, shielding them from the strong rain. Amy felt a pain in her stomach she'd never felt before. She stepped out into the rain and started walking towards her house. She stepped into an alley and fell behind a dumpster.
"Are you alright? I saw you come into the alley." A woman walked over to Amy. "Hello?" The woman poked Amy's shoulder. She looked up with red eyes and fangs. The woman fell back with a yelp. Amy crawled over her and bit into her neck.
Amy sat up and sighed. I need to stop thinking about that night... Amy scoffed quietly and looked over at Dante as he slept. She smiled and stared out of the glass door. The stars glistened in the sky alongside the moon.
Amy heard moaning as the sun brightened up the room. Dante sat up and looked over at Amy. She was standing in front of the door, staring at the rising sun.
"You've been there all night?" Dante asked as he pulled himself out of bed.
"No, I went roof jumping." Amy crossed her arms.
"Hold on." Dante walked over to Amy and held her face up. He looked into her eyes. They were back to their lemon yellow color.
"Can't we leave now?" Amy pushed him away.
"Come on. Get your stuff." Dante walked with Amy towards the door. She grabbed her bag as they left the room. She followed him out onto the sidewalk.
"You know where your home is. I'll be heading back to the blood bar now, then." Dante hesitated, but held out his hand. Amy smiled and shook his hand. He brushed her shoulder as he walked by her. She watched him leave, and turned the other way to walk to her home. She climbed the steps quickly and opened the door. Amy shut the door behind her and saw her mom sitting at the table.
"Am I in trouble?"
"Oh, yes you are. Where were you last night?!" Jessica shouted.
"I was fine. I just...spent the night walking around." Amy walked passed her mom and into her bedroom. Behind her, she heard her mom say, "What am I gonna do with her?" as she shut her door.
"Nothing." Amy whispered as she looked towards her window. She grinned and unlocked the window. She climbed outside and shut the window quietly. Amy gazed away from her home and started running.
