ONE HOUR STILL REMAINING

Do you understand
what you've done?

A. No  B. Yes

He never thought it would end this way. He never imagined waking up to emptiness and guilt. He never wanted this to happen. Never did he mean what he said that night, but it happened and she found out the truth. She found out who he really was inside the exterior he showed her. And my god, did he regret it.

She looked beautiful that night and he didn't tell her. That was his first warning sign for the events that would follow, but he ignored it like the dumbass he was and he didn't tell her what he should have. Her hair was in loose curls, lightly touching her shoulders. The outfit she wore was cozy and casual, she never went out of her way to dress up, and it matched with the colors she painted on her eyes. Her smile was wide and her eyes shot fireworks off every time she looked back at him.

Who knew that fireworks could start wild fires.

She tried so hard to make him fall into her guilt tripping, but he refused as unusual as it sounds. She tugged on his arm a few more times, whimpers masked with a please left her lips, and he told her once more that he was not going to do it. But she was a fighter, she got what she wanted; she always did.

There was instance where he grew numb. His body felt as if it was nonexistent and his eyes grew small as he tried to gnaw the tears away. Her hands fell to her sides as she stood in front of him, worry and concern written on her face. "What's wrong?" a tear slipped from his eyes and slipped to his chin as he looked down at her.

"Babe?" she questioned again, this time gripping his hands, but before she could intertwine them, he threw his hands away. His heart sunk as his hands grew sweaty. His feet stayed frozen to the ground as more tears developed.

His eyes scanned the question one more time. "Do you understand what you have done?" with a yes or no answer attached to the bottom. The pen switched back and forth, yes to no, but before he honestly answered, he read the question again.

He circled yes. Underneath it his hand wrote in messy lettering, "I said the only thing I promised I never would," and tears began to burn at the back of his throat.

He remembered how his voice choked, how her eyes died, how the fireworks that were shouting loudly earlier were now all burned out. Most importantly, he'll never forget the way her heart stopped as she whispered back to him, "what do you mean you don't love me anymore?"
