A new Purpose
He was gone. She could feel it.
Collapsing onto the floor, Ahsoka Tano felt a large chunk of her life being torn from her. She felt a single tear drop into her hand, followed by a waterfall racing down her face.
ARC Trooper Fives raced over to her, his face looking anxious. He knew that something was wrong. He knelt by her side.
"It's Rex...." Ahsoka looked up at the clone. "He's passed away..." Fives shook his head in disbelief. The truth was always hard to accept. But this seemed unreal.
"No," he responded, letting Ahsoka's words sink in. "He couldn't have..." He looked at Ahsoka's ocean blue eyes. They were telling the truth. "I-I-I....."
They were both outside the war room of the Rebels' base, waiting to be called in by the Admiral.
Ahsoka was now dressed in a burgundy tunic dress with black leggings, boots and a grey leather jacket with her rank embellished on the shoulders. She wore her old golden headpiece with her Padawan chain. Ahsoka looked like one of the Rebels yet she didn't. She looked like one of those Jedi from the early days of the Republic, rather than the Padawan she once was.
" Ahsoka, we must focus on the briefing." Fives put on his serious face, whilst trying to mask his sadness for his fallen brother. He put his hands on her shoulders. "What we do today could save others from the same fate."
"You're right, Fives." responded Ahsoka, controlling her emotions. She stood up, just as the door to the War room slid open. She stood confidently as she walked into the room.
As she and Fives walked in, they could see all kinds of Rebels. They could see map readers dotted across the room, all researching locations, along side lower ranked rebels and high ranked staff. As they approached the centre they were met by a good old friend
"Ahsoka!" smiled a female Pantorian, with pastel purple hair tied back in a loose French braid. She wore a navy blue jump suit that adapted to her figure. Her golden eyes met Ahsoka's as she smiled.
Ahsoka gave her a small smile as she walked over to them. "Riyo, it's good to see you again." Ahsoka found her self being hugged by the Pantorian Senator, turned rebel. " How did your mission go?"
"We managed to gain access to the Imperial database," Riyo Chuchi explained as she walked Ahsoka over to a private office, located at the far end of the War room.
Fives wondered off to nose at the other rebels.
Through the door to the office, Admiral Ackbar sitting in his seat, reading reports. He looked up as Ahsoka walked. in. "Take a seat." He gestured to two seats located in front of the desk.
Automatically, Ahsoka and Riyo Chuchi took a seat, as the Admiral closed the report he was reading. "General Tano, how did your mission go?" He asked
"I managed to push Maul off a landing platform, along with me." reported Ahsoka. "I blacked out when I hit the ground."
"When the back up team arrived, they couldn't find Maul's body." replied Ackbar. " No one has seen anything realting to him. H sees to have just vanished."
"Well, then Admiral," Ahsoka stated, "We should turn our attention towards something that could destroy the entire galaxy."
"What do you mean, Ahsoka?" asked Chuchi, her golden eyes locking on to Ahsoka's oceanic eyes.
" An old friend went under cover for me a year ago," explained Ahsoka. " She was caught by Vader and had witnessed something.
"Vader has built a machine that wipes out memories and makes people his loyal servants."
"Admiral," Chuchi looked at Ackbar. "We must act now. We have no idea what could happen to civilians -"
"-And Jedi." Ahsoka cut in as she realised the bigger picture. " We've got to strike now. My friend is his next test subject. I know it." She paused thinking what would happen to Jade. " She was bestowed with a gift. A gift that allowed her to use elements, along with the force. With her under his control, the Empire would be unstoppable."
"Very well, General Tano." nodded the Admiral. "And I know the best place to perform this attack."
"Where?" asked Chuchi "I want in on this."
"Mandalore." responded the Admiral.
"Obi-Wan...." murmured Ahsoka, as she thought about what he was doing to protect the Chosen One's descendants.
"What was that Ahsoka?" asked Chuchi, concerned for her friend.
"Nothing." Ahsoka looked at Ackbar. "Why Mandalore?"
"They have agreed to host the Imperial Gala." Ackbar stood up from his seat before continuing. "Darth Vader will be present, along side Palpatine.
"We could eliminate them both, once and for all."
Ahsoka didn't know how to respond. She wanted to save her Master, not kill him. She wanted to make sure Obi-wan and the twins were safe. She wanted to save the Republic. She wanted peace. Not war. "If we must go through with this," she sighed. "I wish for Darth Vader to stand for trial and not face the death penalty.
"He was corrupted by Palpatine and he isn't the man you all think he is. I know there's still good in him."
Ackbar looked at Ahsoka for a moment. "I see your point," he responded, " Vader will stand trial and shall be treated fairly."
"Ahsoka, I'll do everything I can to assemble the best strike teams." smiled Chuchi, standing up.
"Thanks, Riyo." smiled Ahsoka before turning her head towards Ackbar. "Let's do this, Admiral."
"Agreed, General Tano." nodded Ackbar. "You may choose your personal strike team and brief them on your plan.
"I'm putting you in charge of this one."
"Yes Admiral." responded Ahsoka, standing up.
"Then may the Force be with us all." Chuchi looked at her fellow rebels. Her golden eyes gave Ahsoka a glimmer of hope, as she watched the old Senator leave, followed by the Admiral.
"This is for you Rexster." She whispered to her self, following the other two.
