Who knows?
Every night I lay in my bed and try to fall asleep, while doing that I remember my early childhood. Things like simple memories, eating cheese with my friends in preschool, being sent home, sitting in the back seat watching my tears silently drop to the ground. I was never a loud kid, I did as told and sometimes messed up a bit. When I did, I was always so surprised. I did my best. I tried to be good. I tried. As a punishment my mother reminded me of the four crimes that people commit. People like me. The first: Hitting someone, The second: hurting someone emotionally, The third: stealing, The fourth: lying. I wasn't even 12 before I committed all four.
I silently slip under my covers and close my eyes. I reopen and strain to see in the darkness. I see my stuffed cat stare at me from across the room with silver eyes. I frown and stuff my head in my pillow. I didn't want to go to sleep. Tomorrow was the first day of 7th grade. There were a few things I didn't like: The teacher, Mrs. Smith, The kids acted like teenagers and boys. I flinched at the idea of blushing at a boy. After 10 minutes I slowly start falling into darkness.
I wake up to my mom knocking on the door, I look at my clock and see 6:47 highlighted in red. I roll my eyes.
"I'm awake." I groan as I sit up. She gave me a look as she closed the door.
I put on a black t-shirt and run out of my room. I run into my kitchen and sit down. I quickly gulp down my cereal.
"Why in such a hurry, Theo?" My mom asked.
"School. Remember?" I replied, putting on my book bag. I looked at the clock realizing how late I am. 7:34, school starts at 8:00, and It take 20 minutes to get there.
"I have work to do so you have to skate to school this time." School wasn't very far away from my house but I'd prefer to take my mom's car, considering I was going to be late.
"Ugh, fine." I adjusted my skates and tightened them until I couldn't feel feelings and opened the door skating off with my bag. I was a decent skater, I started skating when I was nine years old. I had a few people Teaching me to skate, and my Dad was so happy to find out I was skating. Where ever he is.
After 30 minutes of rushing, I finally reached the school. I took a minute to breathe and took off my skates. Once I got to my class room I remembered Grace wasn't in my homeroom and I was forced to make new friends. Once I stepped in, only one thing stood out. Alex.
