Chapter 3- Jealous or Delusional

Present

The sound of heels clicking and the chit chat of chatters in the Lawson's building is all Lily could hear as she made her way to the elevator. The usual stares are still thrown her way. She could feel them judging her and this made her angry. As soon as she entered the elevator door, it closed. A relief sigh left her lips as she relax a little and calmed herself. Her mind wonder off to her cat that haven't spoken a word to her since this morning. He just stared at her then ventured off to somewhere.

Ding.

The doors to the elevator slowly opened and she stepped out. She made her way to her desk that wasn't too far from Michaels office. The time is still early so she knew Michael isn't in as yet.

So she just settle for some paperwork. It was long until she heard foot steps. She glance down the hall, and there he was. Mr. Michael Lawson. Looking as handsome as ever.

Lily quickly patted down her hair and wiped the corners of her lips.

"Morning Mr. Lawson." She greeted with a bright smile.

But he didn't speared her a glance. He just threw her a simple 'morning' and rushed to his office.

Lilly's smile slowly faded. He's just in a rush. That's all. She thought.

She was typing when a shadow loomed over her. She looked up and saw a beautiful woman. Long silky blonde hair. Bright greens eyes. She smelled nice too. Lily smile at her.

"Can I help you Ms?" She asked smiling.

"It's Lydia. Where's Michael?" The lady said, her voice a bit too rasped.

Lilly's brows creased in confusion as to why this lady, Ms. Lydia was referring to Mr. Lawson by his first name.

"Excuse me?"

"Are you deaf?" Lilly's polite smile turned into a frown at her tone of voice. "I said where's Michael?"

Lily clinched her fist and released a small laugh. " He's busy at the moment."

"This is useless." She huffed out and marched to his office.

Lily glared at her but ignored her and went back to her work. Sorting papers after papers, appointments after appointments, errands, etc.

It has been over 30 minutes. What in God's name are they doing so long? Needing on excuse to go to his office, she remembered her question. She slowly got up and walked to his office door.

"Come in." He answered after a few knocks at his door. Lily pushed his door open then entered.

"Can I help you with something Ms. Flinn?"

"Um. Can I speak to you in private sir?" She asked looking at Ms. Lydia from earlier.

Micheal glanced at the her then back at lily. "Anything you want to say you can say in front of my guest." Lily glanced back at the woman and saw that she was smirking. Keeping a straight face, Lily cleared her throat.

"Sir, I was wondering if you would like to go out with me?" As soon as those words lift her lips no one said a word. Its like time had frozen for a short pregnant moment.

Lily saw this as an opportunity to continue. "I know that your busy but its at your favorite diner down town and y-"

"Stop. Stop there Ms. Flinn. As your boss this is unprofessional. And as your boss I would never go out with you. So I think as an employee, its best that you get back to your work." He didn't spoke those words out of rage but more in a stern and a dismissal tone. Lydia snort a laugh at the side but lily didn't spared her a glance. She was a bit hurt and Micheal saw it. He secretly admired her bravery. But his words didn't shake her hopes though.

So instead she smile, apologized then left his office.

She sat in her seat sulking. How could she have thought Mr. Lawson would even like her. Stupid. What kind of boss would he be if he got personally involved with a co-worker.

As your boss this is unprofessional. And as your boss I would never go out with you.

So does that mean if he wasn't her boss he might like her? Might go out with her?

Such thought brought a small smile to her face. But that smile quickly fell when the woman came into view at her desk.

"Oh darling. Many have tried but failed to get with my boyfriend. But truth be told, I admired your bravery." With that she walked off.

Boyfriend? No. Mr. Lawson doesn't have a girlfriend. She abruptly got up and went after her. She caught up with her at the moment she was about to enter her car.

""Excuse me! Ms.!"She shouted jogging up to her. The woman stopped and turned to the voice.

"You again." She said making a scoffing sound.

Lily had no time to put up with her attitude, she had only one thing on her mind.

"What do you mean your boyfriend?"

The woman laugh, "Really? You came all the way down here to just ask me that? Pathetic." And with that she went in her car and left.

Lily clenched her fist and stormed back upstairs to her desk.

The day flew by in a blur so Lily rushed home for her date.

***

I find these people around me repulsive. These people around me are all making some kind of connection, like friendship or romance, but human bonds always lead to messy complications. Commitment. Sharing. Driving people to the airport. Why the hell did I choose this place?! I just can't wait until Micheal arrives to make me feel better.

Our bond is different. Its... special

I've been waiting here for over 3 hours and I'm starting to become restless.

Could he have stood me up? Nooo. Micheal wouldn't do such a thing. He's sweet, kind, handsome... Maybe he's stuck in traffic.
"I'll wait for him a little longer." She whispered. He's worth the wait.

Meanwhile Lily sat waiting for a man that will never show up. He was adjusting is suit as he walked through the door of a motel.

He entered is car and decided he was going home. He was driving when he heard a loud thunder. The strength of it shook the car glass. Soon after, rain start to pour down heavily.

He drove past the diner with no thoughts of Lily. Not far from the main road his car broke down.

"No, no, no, no, no! Come on!" He yelled, hitting the steering wheel.
He is no engineer but he knew he can't fix a car either. He took is phone from is pocket to call a tow truck but there was no signal. The rain was pouring to hard for him to walk, besides he wouldn't want to soil such expensive clothing.

Deciding to leave lily dropped a tip on the table then got up. She headed towards the parking lot when a loud thunder roared above her. Slowly, trickles of rain came down. As she sat in the car she searched for her pills.

"Come on, where is it?" She can feel the pills wearing off. She searched every cribbles and corners of her purse for it but found nothing. She blow a breath of fresh air. Trying to calm her rage. First she got stood up. Second she left her pills and third this freaking rain starts to pour heavily.

All in all, she looks like a crazed woman on crack.

With her rage and off her pills, Lily's like a ticking time bomb.
