Barry is gonna kill me. I can't be late. That's all I could think about as I impatiently tapped my finger on my bike. Morning traffic was not my favorite thing in the world, especially when Barry was waiting for me at S.T.A.R. Laboratories.
I had an internship there, not payed, of course. It's just an honor to work there by itself. Barry gave a good word for me so I had a bit more of a chance than other candidates.
My brilliant science skills totally overwhelmed them...and possibly some other abilities.
The traffic slowly cleared up and I was zooming my way down the road. I couldn't feel the crisp September air through my slick helmet. I couldn't check the time, I wouldn't risk an accident.
I pushed the speed on my bike to the limit. If I was late then I would have to work overtime. I don't mind extra science, but school starts in two days and I need relax.
My best friend Dick (he preferred to be called Richard but no one listens to that requests) would be meeting me at a café for what he likes to call 'back to school strategizing'. He is a complete wreck before school, but as soon as he stepped in the doors he relaxed.
All of the girls loved Dick. Literally, all of them. The first hour of the first day he already had all of the chicks twirling their perfectly curled hair and batting their long eyelashes. It's totally not fair.
Dick won't even ask the girl he's had a crush on for years out on a date. He can barley talk to her. I love seeing him uncomfortable around girls, because he never is.
Of course, it can get annoying, but I happen to have a girlfriend myself, Linda Park.
Linda was the reason I was running late. She would not let me off of the phone for the life of me. She wanted to join Dick and I at the cafe, but that was an exclusive event for the two of us.
She was something though, with her dark hair and girly attitude. She made me feel, alright (besides the nagging a parading around). We haven't been together for very long, since the end of last year, actually.
I shook my head vigorously trying not to get distracted. I kept a steady pace and finally made it to the lab. I checked my watch finally as it read 9:16 am. Crap. I was late, 16 minutes late.
When I walked in the large glass doors it was no surprise to see Barry there standing with his hands on his hips. I was not one to be on time and everyone at the lab knew that, but I'm never this late.
"Wally I know you are here because of your special talents but we all like having you for actual scientific advances as well." Barry said raising his eyebrow and walking over to me.
"Yeah, I know." I said shaking my head slightly. "I just couldn't get off of a phone call." I admired leaving certain details of Linda out of the equation.
Barry wasn't a fan of Linda at all. Once I brought her to see the upper floor of the lab. I thought she would enjoy it, but she didn't. All she did was text her friends on her phone blow endless bubbles in her gum, which was prohibited in the work area.
Barry ushered me down the hallway to the elevator. "It was Linda, wasn't it?" He said as if he already knew, which apparently he did.
I was silent.
That was enough of an answer for Barry to shake his head and let out a long sigh. "That girl is trouble."

I was not exactly enthusiastic about job hunting. I'm not even officially 16 yet, just a mere 15 year old.
I grabbed my new key to our apartment and shoved it in the pocket of my ripped jeans. I whipped my hair up in a high ponytail and put minimal makeup on to look my best.
I slipped on my black boots and leather jacket. "Mom I'm heading out!" I called over my shoulder.
"Wait! Honey I have news about your school!" She stated, wheeling her way into the living room. This should be good.
I haven't heard anything about what school I'm going to, when, or how I will be getting there. I've had al lot of anxious moments about what is to come.
"Central City Academy!" She squealed with that same glow she has been wearing since we moved. She shook a piece of paper vigorously in her hand as I paced my way over to her.
"Academy?" That sounded a bit prestigious. An academy. Does this mean I have to wear a uniform? Do I have a dorm room? Did I just move into this nice apartment to move out of it?
"Yes! Academy! Uniform and all!" She grinned like a mad man. "Ooh! That reminds me!" She shelled quickly into her room. I was too stunned to say anything.
She was already back with neatly folded clothes in her lap. "Your uniform!" She held the fabric up to me eagerly. I shifted through the skirt, sweater, blazer, white collared shirt, and tie. Wow.
"This is great and all," I lied, "but do I have a dorm room?" I asked timidly not know wether I wanted to know or not. There was no way.
"Yes honey, but the school is not very far away so you can come home whenever you want!" She exclaimed. This has me confused. Yesterday she wanted me out of the house, now she wants me to visit. I suppose that I will be out more than I would have been if I went to the public school.
"That's great, mom." I lied agin with the most enthusiastic smile I could muster. I clicked the heels of my boots and set my uniform down on the counter.
"Alright now I'm off to find a job." I nodded and grabbed my flip phone off of the table and placed it in my pocket.
"Don't come back until you find one!" She joked, but something about it made me think it wasn't actually a joke.
Navigating through a new city wasn't easy. I had no clue what places were hiring and if they would even hire me. I guess I'll take whatever I can.
I tried a convenient store, they turned me down. I tried a fast food restaurant, that turned me down. Basically every place I went turned me down.
I sat down at a bench and began analyzing my situation. I'm under 16, barely. All of the chain placed I went to apply turned me down. Maybe I need something a bit more local where I can talk to the only manager.
I silently agreed to myself with a nod and began once again picked up my journey.

Dick hates it when I was late. I was usually late, which leads to further issues. I was supposed to meet him at the Urban Ground Cafe, our place of meet up. The time was 12 o'clock sharp. Oops.
I was only a minute away that's not gonna kill him, or is it. I shrugged and finally reached the infamous place. I ordered a hot chocolate, like always, and scammed for Dick.
I picked out his shaggy black hair and Apple computer at a little table at the window. I'm amazed he didn't see me on the sidewalk.
I grabbed my coco when they called my name and leisurely strides to the table. I pulled out the seat and sat down, he didn't even notice. He was so fixed on reading whatever was in front of him.
Maybe I could get away with being late...
Dick's blue eyes flicked off of his screen for a second. He finally noticed I was there and slammed his computer shut.
"What the heck Wally!" He exclaimed with a look of complete confusion. I tipped my head at his jump behavior.
"What exactly were you looking at? Your five month plan to finally talk to Zatanna." I snickered and set my cup down. Dick's eyes widened as he stayed silent.
"Holy crap! Dude, are you serious?" At this point I couldn't help but bust out laughing, clutching my stomach. "D-d-dude!" I exclaimed hitting the table.
He rolled his eyes impatiently. "At least the girl I'm after isn't such a-" Dick stopped himself before he could go any further. He was talking about Linda.
"Why does no one like her?" I growled, suddenly losing my laughing attitude. I liked Linda, a lot, but everyone seems to warn me about her. We have fun together.
"Ask yourself that question." He sighed and reopened his computer. His gaze faltered for a second at a little blonde walking in the door.
He softly whistled as he turned back at me. "She's a 10." He chuckled lightly. I turned around and strained my neck to see her. She was questioning about a job opening.
"I guess." I shrugged nonchalantly and turned back to Dick, who shook his head.
"You are too consumed by Linda to even recognize a beautiful face," he scanned her up and down once again, "and body." He added with a raised eyebrow.
I pivoted around again, she did have a nice body, and face. Her cheekbones were sharp and high up on her face. Stormy grey eyes rested below her long, batting eyelashes. A cute button nose was placed in the center of her face , right above her pink lips. Her bottom lip stick out a bit further than her top one, but not in a pouty way, with a slight smirk. Overall she had tan, soft looking skin. Yeah, she was a 10.
"Ok, fine, she is good looking." I admitted turning back around to see Dick staring at his computer once again, but not before I turned around once again to the girl with luscious golden locks.
"Thank you! I'll be here tomorrow 9 am sharp!" She nodded enthusiastically with a bright smile. I didn't know how to look away. I take it I'm going to be seeing her working here in the future.
Finally, I watched her exit and stride down the sidewalk. Her voice was even prettier than her appearance. It's gonna be nice to have a pleasant face around, I guess.

9:00am EST
I slapped my alarm angrily and rubbed the sleep out of my eyes. Today was moving day, well moving into my dorm, which I conveniently shared with Dick.
My mother had already taken her van with all of my boxes so I could just ride my bike over. As much as I hated to ride it with the fresh paint job, I wasn't just going to let it sit at home.
I preformed my usual routine and headed out of the door, throwing my jacket on. I revved he engine and darted for Central City Academy.
Just as I was pulling into the parking lot I quickly checked the time but before I knew it I was jerked forward and all I could see was a head of familiar blonde hair being whipped in the wind. I had just hit someone.
