Chapter 1.

So there I was, standing in front of the gargantuan building, nearly toppling over from looking up so long.
Yeah, I know. You're probably thinking, "What were you even doing??"
Well. I'll tell you... That was my first day of high school. And let me tell you, when I first showed up, I felt puny compared to everyone else. Yeah, I was a freshman, but I was also one of the smallest. Only weighing roughly 95 pounds. So, lucky meee...
I took a deep breath in and ventured forward, lugging my twenty-five pound bag inside. (Believe me, I weighed that sucker before I left!) I quickly figured out the layout of the building, because it was literally a circle. (Smart thinking, honestly..) I soon realized that I was starving and decided to snoop out the cafeteria. Walking around the wide hallways, I found it. It reminded me of the cafeteria from High School Musical. The lower, much larger section of the floor had long rectangular fold up tables where the lowerclassmen had to sit. The upper level of the floor was reserved for seniors only, as there were giant fancy letters on the wall that said, "The SENIOR Café." I got in line for breakfast and was oddly surprised at how lovely the lunch ladies were to me. They all smiled and wished me good luck on the first day of school, and it made me smile for the first time that day. I toddled off to find a seat next to people I knew and ate my runny fruit parfait. I soon threw my trash away and went back out of the cafeteria to scope out my first hour of the day. Dodging people throwing footballs and those stupid enough to stop in the middle of the hallway, I wandered around for a bit, looking for my class, when. I realized. I didn't even know what my first class was! I stopped at my locker, turning the dial on the lock slowly, hearing it pop open. I opened it up and set my bag inside, rummaging through the massive amounts of things inside of it. I finally found my schedule, wadded up in the bottom of my bag. I opened it carefully, peering at the classes.
"Oh. Marching band..." I smiled softly and shrugged, pulling the contents of my bag back in to where they belonged. Slamming my locker shut, I shuffled away awkwardly, looking away from anyone who attempted to make eye contact. I finally got to the band room, slumping down next to the door, looking at the ground. It wasn't even unlocked yet.. I sighed deeply and took my bag off, making me look less of a turtle. There was only two other people there already. I knew one of them from last year, he left my section to join the French horn section. His name was Buddha, and his thick hair and glasses covered most of his dark triangular face. He was a pretty smart guy though. Now the other person, was a different story. He had the coolest hair I've ever seen. It was a dark onyx marbled with silver and a very dark grey. He had earbuds in, listening to some rock techno music; louder than what the health department recommends because I could hear it across the hall. Overall, he honestly wasn't a bad looking guy at all. Large square shoulders, bright green eyes, and a thin line of facial hair growing along his jawline.
I sighed, waved to Buddha shakily and shrunk back to the wall, as I thought:
"Ugh! What am I doing here?!"
