The Storm

The gardener tried to run as the bullets started to fire only to find himself face down in a puddle of his own blood. Blood seemed to stain the hillside in which he now lay. It stayed that way for a few minutes until all went silent, only then did he smile. He knew his friends had won. With his head turned to the side he smiled at the now raining sky the pain had turned into a sort of numbness. The rain mixed with his blood spread even faster down the hill making an even bigger mess dyeing the ground brilliant shades of red. As Finny's vision turned black he felt himself being swept off the ground.

Bardroy had found him in no less than a minute after the fight. When he had found his friend he was almost sure he had to be dead, but his pulse said otherwise. His heart skipped a beat as he found of the news and he held the boy's body close to him. He was as cold as ice and his skin seemed to be turning grey. This made the cook even more determined to get him to the manor as fast as possible. He trudged through the thick mud carrying the boy as if he was an infant. The blood now soaking through his shirt.

Upon arrival at the house it seemed all of the inhabitants of the house were waiting for his return Meyrin, Sebastian, Tanaka (house steward), and the young master himself Ciel Phantomhive. Meyrin burst into tears at the sight of him lying limply, unmoving. Sebastian, showing no sign of remorse snatched Finny from the arms of Bardroy.

As Bardroy started to follow Sebastian the butler called to behind him, "You do not have to worry I will treat the wound. In the meantime change your shirt if the boy is to come to we wouldn't want to frighten him further with all the blood would we?" Now as the butler seemed to fade away towards the gardeners room followed by the sobbing maid and unemotional young master. Bard hurried to his room to get a change of clothes. All he would think about was the blood and how it was all his fault. If only he hadn't called him that name over and over again he might be ok. If he had stayed and eaten breakfast he would have heard the news and would be safe if only he thought before he spoke. Then that led to another thought... Sebastian was by the door when Finny left. he knew all along.

With this new information Bard emerged from his room furious. Almost running down the hall he stopped outside and almost knocked down the door. He saw Meyrin, Ciel, and Tanaka sitting near the eastern wall. Then Finny lying there his skin still as pale as that of a porcelain doll with Sebastian leaning over him bandaging the wound that had miraculously stopped bleeding.

"You bastard!" Bardroy growled through clenched teeth making all of them (finny not included) look up from their positions in the room, Sebastian just smiled at him which made his fury turn into a blind rage. "you could've stopped him at the door! You knew that they were out there all along! But you didn't stop him!" At this point Bardroy was resisting the urge to tackle the 6 foot tall butler and decorating that pretty face of his with his own blood.

"I was in no position to do so." The butler replied in a know-it-all tone. "Don't blame me for your mistakes it was you that chased him away now YOU have to face the consequences. Now if you'll excuse me I have some more important matters to attend to. You will now be in charge of the well-being of Finny. Since I already do most of the work on you jobs anyway it won't be much of a difference."

Bardroy cringed as he said 'important' and didn't understand how anything else could be more important than the life of a friend. But he did understand the rest of Sebastian's words were true. It was his fault and he would have to face the consequences for his actions. He was relieved when they all left but still scared. When they left he had more time to think. He had begun to drown in "what ifs" and "if only's". Before he could think he found himself kneeling by Finnian's bed holding his small cold hand in his warm one.

"I am so sorry." And at that moment something happened that Bardroy could not explain why he did it. He leaned over the Gardener's bed and pressed his lips against the cold lips of his 'friend'. While blushing profusely he began to back up until reaching the wall in which he stopped and sat of the ground.

"what have I done?"
