Chapter 20

That night, Jimin walked going to her house, tired, restless. He went to school with guilt on his shoulders, and when Jungkook woke him up to his senses, he wasn't even sure if he should do this: meet her.

But his feet were leading the way.

She was sweet, adorable, and beautiful, no doubt, and Jimin knew this. Sending letters for months must've taken her so much time, and so much guts for actually telling him that it was her all along, but most of all, it was her patience that made Jimin admire her.

How long did she have to wait for me?

His stomach was feeling weird all over again, and Jimin didn't know what to do.

This is what I'm supposed to be doing, right?

It's better than just rejecting her feelings.

He stopped outside her front door, her front porch light landing on him. The yellow light showcased his features as he hesitated, swallowing the lump that was forming in his throat. With his fingers just a few inches away from the door, he couldn't muster up all his courage to knock, and right there and then, he figured out that overthinking wasn't a good idea. It was ironic how two days ago, he was looking forward to this, and now here he was, looking like a scared boy on his first day of school.

Opening his mouth and rehearsing what he'd say, Jimin screamed internally and hit his head once.

"Stupid Jimin!" he said, frowning and stomping on the ground before he stopped, thinking she'd hear it. "What's wrong with you?"

"Are you okay?" A voice could be heard and when Jimin snapped out of his senses, he looked up to see a smiling Mina, her head peeking out of the door as she urged him to come in. She looked so lively and happy as she waved her hands, smiling even more. "Come on in, come on in! Please come inside!"

Stumbling his way in, Jimin smiled an apologetic smile, seeing her giggle.

"How long have you been waiting outside?" she asked, going to the kitchen to grab some drinks. "Make yourself at home, Jimin. If you wanna look at our family albums, they're right over there, if you wanna entertain yourself."

After she disappeared to the kitchen, Jimin headed over to her couch, playing with his fingers because it didn't feel bad, being there, but it felt awkward in a way, considering the fact that it was his first time going to a girl's house. Her house was big, spacious, and it felt nice, seeing that she had shelves full of family pictures, and that made Jimin smile. He couldn't help it.

Following what she said, he stood up and made his way to the shelves and examined what was there, and one album with stickers and flowers decorating it caught his attention. As he continued to smile, he opened the photo album and saw pictures of Mina and her family, all happy and all smiles like problems didn't exist - that only happiness was there, nothing more.

Seeing Mina grinning with a peace sign and with those cute pigtails, Jimin couldn't help but laugh, covering his mouth so she wouldn't hear him from the kitchen, but as he scanned the photo even more, he couldn't help but notice her brother, or whoever that guy beside her was, doing the same pose, and it even made it even funnier seeing that they looked like twins at a park, so adorable and lovely.

"What are you laughing at?"

Jimin choked as he looked back in surprise, the photo album falling to the ground and his face so red as he resembled a tomato about to explode.

"I'm sorry, I-"

"-You're laughing because you saw me with those horrible pigtails, huh?" Mina smirked, and Jimin noticed just that second how she was only wearing an oversized white shirt just because she was now walking towards him with two cups in hand, and he didn't know if she intentionally showcased her legs for him to see, or maybe because she felt hot.

He silently hoped she was wearing something under that shirt, though. Like she actually thought of wearing shorts because now, Jimin didn't really feel comfortable.

"You should drink this, it's hot chocolate," she smiled, and the moment Jimin thanked her and got the cup, she dragged him upstairs.

Probably to study.

Or talk.

Or watch a movie.

Jimin didn't know, but he was going crazy. Suddenly, he felt like he shouldn't have come.

"Where are we going?" Jimin asked, and he almost stumbled once again, with his cup in hand, not really knowing if he should breathe first or move his right leg or his left leg first as they were going up the stairs, or if he should just make a run for it and tell Jungkook and the others he's in an awkward situation.

"My room, of course, silly," Mina's laugh reached his ears, but before that even registered in his head, what came to his brain first was Jungkook's voice somehow telling him to run.

Jimin just shrugged all the negative thoughts away, and as they reached her room, everything was off, and the only light illuminating the room was her TV which showed a movie being paused.

"I was waiting for you, but I was already watching Train to Busan, don't worry, it just started, do you want me to play it from the beginning?" she asked, going to her bed and sitting comfortably. Jimin, not knowing what to do, shuffled in her bed awkwardly as she patted the empty space right next to her. "Come closer, Jimin," Mina giggled, and Jimin just gave her a smile.

"Sorry, it's my first time..." he said, referring to him going to a girl's place with no one but them. "I thought your parents would be here, are they okay with me staying here?"

"Are you kidding? They're always out, so I'm always alone. I like having people around, so Jimin, thank you for coming over. It means a lot," Mina smiled in the dark, but Jimin could still see her sweet face as the movie played. The next second, she wrapped her arm around Jimin's waist, entangling their legs together.

It felt so different, and Jimin couldn't pinpoint what made his heart race. A few minutes already passed and he should've been scared since all the zombies were already appearing on the television screen and running around infecting people, but he was so distracted that all he could focus on was Mina letting out silent squeaks as another zombie would appear on her TV screen.

"I'm so sorry, I get scared easily," she laughed, putting Jimin's arm over her shoulder. Looking up, she smiled at him. "Are you alright?"

He didn't notice hours passed by with them watching the movies she wanted to watch, but he was zoning out. Maybe because he was thinking of other things other than her, but he wasn't trying to hurt her feelings. He just felt uneasy, but he couldn't push her off. Maybe because he was just thinking about Jungkook.

It was getting late, and Jungkook's probably waiting for him outside her house, like what they were talking about in school.

Jungkook, where are you?

"Jimin?"

What made Jimin smile back at her was her shaking his arm gently, asking if he was okay.

"Y-Yeah, I'm okay, don't worry," he chuckled, feeling like he was off, but he was supposed to feel happy if it weren't for her sitting on his lap now, Mina smiling up at him as she fixed his hair so she could look at his eyes better.

"I like you. A lot," she whispered in the dark, and now that the television was off, Jimin couldn't hear people screaming and escaping from zombies - instead, all he could hear was her silent breaths. He couldn't feel anything but her fingers on his face, cupping his cheek, and one hand playing with the hem of his shirt.

His heart suddenly skyrocketed because he didn't know what to do. He panicked, he was freaking out, his mind was all over the place, and she was confessing.

Again.

Didn't she tell me it was her who sent all those letters?

"Don't you have a boyfriend? The guy I saw, the one who was beside you," Jimin said, looking down as he stayed quiet, referring to the guy he saw in one of those pics, along with her family pictures.

"Don't talk about him, I'm not dating him. I like you, no one else," she leaned closer the moment he looked up, but before she could kiss him, he looked away.

"It's getting late, you should rest now. I don't want you to get sick," Jimin placed his hands down, but she insisted, now trying to pull his shirt up. "Mina."

"Jimin, don't you like me?"

No.

I don't.

"What are you even saying? I don't want to hurt you. Please rest," Jimin was already sitting up, fixing his shirt, before she pulled him back, his back now resting on her bed as she hovered over him.

"We can keep this a secret, please," her hands went to unbutton his jeans then it took all his courage to actually push her off as gently as he could so she wouldn't do anything more stupid.

"Mina, thank you for today, but I don't feel the same-"

"-Don't say it, I don't like it when guys say that. I like you, Jimin. It's been months, why don't you like me back? Is someone stopping you from liking me?"

No.

Yes.

I don't know.

"I should get going," was all he could say before he went out her door, hearing her shout, "Meet me next week, on the rooftop!"

He spent hours at her house, watching movies with her, but regretted not taking a second to glance at his watch while he was there, with her because now it was 2 am and Jungkook wasn't outside. No one was outside waiting for Jimin.

Jimin shouldn't have gotten so distracted because as he looked at his phone screen, he got 24 missed calls from Jungkook and tons of messages.

'Where are you, hyung?'

'Hyung, are you okay?'

'Are you hurt?'

'Hyung?'

Jimin nearly cried when he felt like Jungkook was giving up on him as he saw his last message. He wouldn't know what to do if he'd see Jungkook in school. One thing Jimin knew for sure was that he messed up.

'Have fun.'
