Chapter 8

He ran and ran till his feet couldn't take it anymore.

Jimin fell to the ground once again, his body shaking, blood dripping from his wounds, and the sound of his sobs escaping his lips. The incessant hammering pounded on his brain, and he wanted to scream his heart out.

It was too painful.

"Jimin!" a voice called out to him from a distance, but he continued to cry.

Wanting to escape, Jimin used his right arm to help himself stand up, but failed as he came in contact with the ground once again. It only caused more pain as he noticed his wounds were getting bigger, the skin opening, revealing more blood as it dripped slowly.

How he wanted to give up.

"Jimin!"

That voice resounded in his ears once more, and it would've sounded like a beautiful lullaby if it weren't for Jimin's brain constantly telling him he was worthless.

Jimin could hear heavy footsteps nearing him, sounding like the person was running just to catch up to him, to his body that was still on the ground.

Just give up, Jimin's brain whispered to him. It sounded like it was trying to drag him down, and it was choking him more and more, getting worse by the second, and Jimin wanted to breathe. He wanted air, and he wanted to be free.

But as always, that voice came back for him every single day, telling him that giving up was the only solution, and assuring him that in order to be free, he needed to give up and just kill himself.

Kill yourself, you fool!

"Jimin!"

Jimin looked up and saw a figure, but it was hard to tell who it was as his vision blurred, and the tears in his eyes didn't help. All the colors decided to come together, his world spinning, and the objects that weren't supposed to be moving seemed to be in motion.

Before he could completely focus on the person who was meters away from him, Jimin blacked out.

~

"I hope you wake up."

Jimin could hear a familiar voice as his eyes were still closed. Yes, he wanted to wake up, but it was like a beautiful dream with that honey-laced voice reverberating in his ears making it all seem too good to be true, so he decided to keep his eyes closed.

The room was cold, but the bedsheets were colder, and Jimin didn't know why. He yearned for warmth.

By the feel of it, he knew he was brought to the school's clinic.

He felt his body being carried slowly, only to be placed back on the bed, but he was placed in a different position. When he felt someone's hands on his legs, specifically his knees, Jimin wanted to hiss as he felt a sting, his wounds being taken cared of.

He couldn't help but let a teardrop fall.

Someone was taking care of him.

"I'm sorry," this person whispered, and Jimin could hear the sound of someone crying silently. It was really quiet in the room, so the sound of someone crying wouldn't go unnoticed.

Jimin felt his knees being cleaned, being disinfected, and he couldn't help but feel the person's hands on his skin, and it felt good. This person's hands were warm, just like what Jimin was yearning for.

So warm.

He heard a few packages being opened and after a minute or two, Jimin's knees were bandaged, and the person let out a sad sigh.

"I told the others to go ahead. Hyung, I'm so worried, don't do this to me," this person's voice broke, trying to hold back the tears.

Hyung?

Jimin's ears perked up as he heard the word 'hyung' escape from those lips, but he decided to listen to what this person was trying to tell him.

Only Taehyung and Jungkook were younger than him.

"I told Taehyung hyung to go ahead as well since it's getting late."

If it wasn't Taehyung then there was only one answer.

"Classes finished for the day, but I got your bag and now it's here, don't worry," he heard the person chuckle, trying to cover up his silent cries. "I miss you, hyung, I want to see you smile again."

Jimin was speechless. His words were stuck in his throat, but he couldn't deny that his heart was beating so, so fast, even faster than a speeding bullet. It was beating a thousand beats per minute, and he was going to explode.

"I wish you'd wake up."

Jimin wanted to sit up and just embrace this person, saying that he was alright, and that he didn't need to worry. Jimin bet that this person didn't know he was awake minutes ago, so he wanted to say that he was listening the whole time. But a tinge of guilt shot through him.

Before Jimin could sit up, this person leaned in slowly, and Jimin could feel someone hovering over him since the bed shifted. The sun's last rays peeking from the window were covered by this person's body, and Jimin's breath hitched. His heart was soaring as he gripped onto the bedsheets, but the person didn't notice.

Jimin felt a pair of lips land on his left cheek, along with this person's warm breath reaching his neck, and Jimin's insides tingled. He felt weird all over, this feeling all new to him, and as much as it bothered him, Jimin wanted to know what this feeling was called. He seriously wanted to know why his stomach was doing dangerous flips, and it felt like his heart was going to jump off a cliff; it was that scary, yet, it made his heart go fast. Too fast that he couldn't breathe properly.

Though the room was cold just like the sheets that were under him, Jimin felt so, so warm as he took in the feeling of the person's soft lips on his skin.

It felt so good.

It felt too good that it scared him.

Is it wrong to like it this much?

"Wake up, hyung...for me," this person whispered, his breath finally reaching Jimin's spine and he shuddered. He couldn't help but lean into this person's touch when his fingers caressed Jimin's skin, cupping his cheek gently, and Jimin mustered up all the courage he could find to bring his head up to look at this person, letting his hand meet those long fingers that were still on his cheek.

He heard a soft gasp.

"Jungkook," Jimin whispered, finally looking up at Jungkook with tears welling up in his eyes. He was still holding onto Jungkook's hand, not wanting Jungkook to let go.

"Hyung-" Jungkook immediately wanted to pull away, lifting himself up because he didn't expect Jimin to wake up just like that, didn't expect Jimin to return his touch, but Jimin held onto his hand tighter this time, making Jungkook stumble forward, his face inches away from Jimin's.

"I'm awake," Jimin said with a smile, staring at those dark brown orbs once more, the ones that contained the galaxies, the ones that seemed to reel him in. Unconsciously, he diverted his eyes to Jungkook's lips as the younger one licked them, not realizing that Jimin was looking at him like that.

"You're awake," that was all Jungkook could say. Nevertheless, he couldn't help but smile.

"Uhm...did you hear all that?" Jungkook asked as he turned red, referring to the things he was saying when Jimin was asleep. Jimin shook his head no as an answer. He lied, but he didn't want Jungkook to know for now - he didn't want to let Jungkook know that he heard all those. "Did you feel it?"

Jimin knew Jungkook was talking about the kiss he placed on his cheek, but once again, he shook his head, pretending he didn't know what he was talking about.

He didn't notice the hurt in Jungkook's eyes, but Jungkook was a good sport, so he gave the older one a smile.

"I'm glad you didn't," Jungkook muttered, and Jimin wanted to punch himself because Jungkook looked away, avoiding his gaze. He was also in the middle of standing up. "If you did, you'd hate me."

He wouldn't hate Jungkook.

Because now, his heart beat even faster for the younger.

"I would never hate you," Jimin shook his head no, immediately pulling him in once again, making the younger look at him surprisingly. Jimin realized he was in desperate need of someone's warmth, someone's touch, and it just so happened that Jungkook was there, and it was only Jungkook that he needed. He brought a hand to touch Jungkook's cheeks, and he guessed that Jungkook didn't expect him to do this because he moved back a little, but Jimin continued to touch his face anyway, making the younger lean in a bit closer, a shy smile on his face. He liked this side of Jimin.

"Thank you," Jimin said, and Jungkook nodded with his sweet smile, pulling a few strands of hair away from Jimin's flawless face. No words were said, but actions were passed instead.

Jimin didn't need to explain anything because Jungkook knew what he was talking about. He helped Jimin and took care of his wounds, and even waited for him to wake up, but Jungkook knew that. Jimin didn't need to tell him.

But Jimin felt weird.

He felt so weird that he started to cry, bringing his hands to cover his eyes, his tear-stained face.

Jungkook panicked, asking him what was wrong as he struggled to let Jimin face him, but Jimin ended up sobbing, unintentionally pushing Jungkook away, and Jungkook felt a pang in his heart.

Jimin ran once again.

He ran out of school's clinic, where he left Jungkook.

But one thing he wasn't aware of was that the younger one was chasing after him for the second time that day.

And Jungkook would continue to chase after him.

Because that's what he's been doing for a while now.

Chasing after Park Jimin.

And Jimin, like always, wouldn't stop running.
