Chapter 9
He flung the cubicle door open, in a hurry, and there, he placed his head over the toilet bowl and threw up, the sound of him in pain echoing all throughout the restroom, and as if by instinct, the second round came as he vomited once again, and his stomach clenched, Jimin wincing in pain at the burning sensation in the back of his throat.
The cubicle door was open as he was sitting on the floor, restless, his hands still gripping onto the toilet seat, preparing himself in case he wanted to throw up again.
He just felt so sick.
Jimin didn't want to do that, but his body couldn't take everything all at once and decided to make him feel like garbage and now there he was, vomiting nonstop.
His mouth was dirty, and his hands were as well, and because of these reasons, he felt filthy, and he just wanted to throw up somemore.
"Hyung!"
Jungkook came running in, panting, his hair disheveled and his shirt a mess, but he didn't care.
When he saw Jimin's condition, sobbing, on the floor, his eyes widened in shock and before a second could pass, he immediately got a few rolls of tissue paper and soaked them in water, rushing his way to Jimin, cleaning his mouth, his chin, his hands, and every little corner he could find because he didn't want Jimin to feel dirtier than he already did.
Jimin deserved to feel cared for, and seeing him on the floor, crying his heart out, Jungkook couldn't stop himself from kneeling down even closer, just to take him in his arms, where he hoped Jimin would get distracted by his warmth instead of telling himself he was useless and worthless.
Jungkook was already crying as he was running after the older one, but now, he was crying more than ever as he tried his best to calm the other, shushing him softly, swaying Jimin back and forth, caressing his hair just to comfort him.
He cradled Jimin, and Jimin felt like a baby as he was enveloped in Jungkook's arms, his strong arms that made him feel safe and secure, and Jimin, taking his time to bury himself in his warmth, slowly wrapped his arms around Jungkook as well.
"I feel worthless, Jungkook," Jimin cried, his voice breaking, his eyes so red as he struggled to breathe normally. He sucked in air, but he ended up choking on his own tears. "J-Jungkook..."
"Shhh," Jungkook hushed him, still swaying him from side to side, bringing Jimin closer to his chest this time, holding onto the back of Jimin's shirt so hard that he thought his knuckles would turn white. "I'm right here, hyung, please...please don't cry," the younger one said, and though he told Jimin not to cry, it was easier said than done because he was crying as well, and he wanted to stay strong for Jimin because seeing him break would break him him, too, and he just couldn't cry in front of Jimin like that. He needed to be strong for Jimin. He needed to let Jimin stand on his own two feet again. But it was hard. Seeing the older of the two in so much pain felt like someone was stabbing Jungkook in the chest, countless of times, merciless.
And it hurt.
A lot.
"I made you carry me all the way to the clinic, made you take care of my wounds, made you wait for me," Jimin started, and Jungkook knew where this was going. He knew it. Jimin buried his head into the crook of Jungkook's neck as he closed his eyes, tears falling one by one. "And now here you are, comforting me. I don't deserve this. I let people do so much for me, and I feel useless, and I just...you shouldn't do this. I can't tell you how sorry I am for dragging you into my problems," Jimin cried somemore, clinging onto Jungkook like his life depended on it. "I'm so sorry, Jungkookie."
If it weren't for this situation, Jungkook would've thought it was cute of Jimin to use his nickname like that, his angelic voice flooding his ears, but now he couldn't even process anything but Jimin's sobs, and he just let Jimin cry because sometimes, all you need is a person to listen to you talk about your problems.
And that's what Jimin needed.
"I've been feeling like utter crap, and I'm facing a lot right now. I didn't tell my parents about this. I think you don't know anything about it, but I'm thankful that you're listening," Jimin sniffled woefully, and Jungkook nodded, biting his lips to what he just said, trying his best to suppress the words that would slip out of his mouth.
He knew Jimin had insecurities, and that he was going through a tough time because whenever he'd look at Jimin, he'd always have that sad smile, and eventhough the others said that there was nothing wrong with him, Jungkook definitely knew Jimin was keeping something from them. He could see it in Jimin's eyes.
He'd been staring at Jimin's eyes for too long that he knew what every look meant.
And Jimin, couldn't run and hide from his problems forever.
Jimin always declining their offer when they'd invite him to go eat somewhere with them on Friday nights, the time when they're supposed to chill and have fun, Jimin saying he was full and that he's been eating well when he looked too weak and it was obvious he was starving himself - Jungkook didn't need any explanation.
These were some of the things he had noticed and he couldn't just shrug it off with a usual, 'Maybe he's not feeling well today' because it's been happening for weeks now, and it was really starting to worry him.
Jungkook knew. He knew what Jimin was going through, but he didn't tell anyone about it, didn't want Jimin to be bombarded with questions because that would just make the situation worse.
He decided to break the walls Jimin has been shielding himself with, slowly, and the younger one wanted to do this because he knew Jimin needed someone to be there for him, and he needed Jimin to understand that sometimes, in life, you need a person to walk with you so that you won't have to face your obstacles alone.
No man is an island.
"I'm worthless, Jungkook. I'm ugly and no one sees how much I hate myself. No one appreciates my existence, and everyday, I just wish I'd-"
Jimin got cut off when Jungkook broke the hug all of a sudden, gently lifting his chin with his fingertips to let Jimin's gaze lock on him, and no one else but him. Their faces were so close that Jimin decided to keep his mouth shut.
Right now, Jungkook didn't care if Jimin was older, and that he shouldn't cut people off when they were talking, but he couldn't deal with Jimin constantly degrading himself, completely unaware that he was nowhere near that, and that he was more beautiful than the galaxies grouped together; ugly was such a horrible word that Jungkook couldn't even believe that word was used to hurt people, to let a bit of themselves die each time whenever they'd hear it. To Jungkook, no one was ugly, and no one deserved to be called that; just because that person didn't fit other people's standards, didn't mean that person was ugly.
"You're worthless? Say that one more time," Jungkook dared Jimin, his voice steady, his warm breath hitting his face, and the older one was taken aback, not seeing this side of Jungkook before. His eyes were serious, yet, so gentle as they were filled with worry, tears still evident in Jungkook's eyes. "You mean the world to me, hyung, didn't that even cross your mind?"
Jimin felt a pang in his heart when Jungkook said that, not knowing how the younger one felt about him all this time. To Jimin, he only thought Jungkook looked at him as a hyung and nothing more than that, but hearing Jungkook's voice break just by saying he meant the world to him, Jimin couldn't help but feel tears pricking his eyes, and though he was holding it back, he let the tears escape. Somehow, he wanted to know if those words meant so much more to Jungkook, and he wanted to know if he really did mean that much to him.
If he really meant the world to him.
Jimin couldn't even say anything in return, partly because Jungkook had this side of him that made Jimin admire him more, and because he was too touched hearing those words escape from his mouth. Jungkook was silent and he acted cute most of the time without him knowing, but now that Jimin saw that he had this strong character to him, Jimin couldn't ignore the feeling of his heart skipping a beat.
His heart ached and clenched in a good way just by hearing Jungkook say that, his stomach flipping again, and Jimin wanted to scream since he didn't know what this feeling was.
Is it wrong to feel this way? Jimin thought to himself as his heart continued to soar.
"Hyung, maybe we met and didn't plan for it to happen, but staying with you was my choice, and yes, I definitely planned for that to happen, and I'm going to be here for you and I'm not going anywhere, and now you say no one appreciates your existence? I do," Jungkook whispered low, but loud enough for Jimin to hear, and he wouldn't back down. Not now.
"Do you know how many times I thank God for giving me you? Do you?" Jungkook asked, and Jimin wanted to tell him that he's made his point, and he didn't need to drown him with those dark brown eyes of his because it was too much, and Jimin couldn't breathe, but Jungkook continued to get his point straight. "And you're the most beautiful person I've ever met in my entire life, hyung, now just think about that."
They were locked in each other's gaze, with Jimin now noticing how close they really were, Jungkook only a few inches away from his face. Jungkook was so bold, and he got so straightforward that Jimin wasn't ready for it, and he wanted to escape from those addicting pair of eyes, to run away from them, and Jimin wondered if Jungkook knew what effect he had on him.
Being trapped in Jungkook's gaze was like being trapped in a maze, and it was hard to get out. There seemed to be no way out.
But Jimin didn't mind.
He could get trapped in those enchanting eyes forever.
"It hurts me when you put yourself down, hyung. You're beautiful, and I can say this forever, again and again, until this would etch in your mind - you are beautiful," Jungkook put emphasis on the last three words, saying them slowly, and Jimin, for the first time that day, let out a small chuckle, a small smile on his face as he looked up at the younger.
Jimin's heart was beating so fast that it scared him.
The younger one knew he couldn't turn back this time, fully aware that by tomorrow, they were going to see each other again, and a part of him was in pain. It was in pain because he knew nothing would be the same anymore, that tomorrow they'd either be ignoring each other or pretending as if nothing happened as they'd greet each other good morning, just because he decided to chase after Jimin.
But he didn't regret it.
Jimin could ignore him forever, for as long as he wanted, but Jungkook knew this was one of the best decisions he's ever made - comforting Jimin, and him bringing Jimin in his arms, embracing him so tight like there was no tomorrow.
If only Jimin knew how beautiful he looked smiling like that, and with that smile, Jungkook just wanted to wipe those tears away. They weren't supposed to be staining Jimin's face.
Gathering all his courage, Jungkook brought a hand to rest on Jimin's neck and Jimin froze, not knowing what Jungkook would do.
He could feel Jungkook hesitate for a while, and when Jimin opened his mouth to ask what he was trying to do, Jungkook only brought their bodies closer, closer than ever before, and embraced him tight, their chests touching, their hearts beating as one. With one hand in Jimin's hair, and another hand around Jimin's waist, he whispered.
"I want you to smile for me."
This could be his last words to him, to Jimin.
If Jimin decided to think that none of this ever happened, and that tomorrow he'd just walk past Jungkook like he was stranger then Jungkook just wanted to say this to him now: he wanted Jimin to smile for him. It was his only wish, and if Jimin was happy then that would make him happy as well.
This was his only chance to say how much Jimin meant to him, and seeing that it was just there in front of him, he grabbed the chance and just straight up told Jimin how beautiful he was.
If Jimin really wanted to forget about this and ignore him tomorrow, it was his choice, and Jungkook had no say in it, so he just prepared himself for what was yet to come.
It could be his last words to Jimin if Jimin pretended he didn't exist anymore, considering that he just confessed to him about how beautiful he was in his eyes, and how much he meant to him, but once again, Jungkook didn't care if Jimin knew about this because he deserved to know how precious he was.
He needed to be reminded every single day.
So that he'd feel special and loved.
But on the other hand, this could also be one of his first words to his hyung.
If Jimin would still accept him tomorrow then Jungkook would die of happiness, and that would mean that they started a new chapter in their lives, knowing more about each other, knowing what the other was dealing with and knowing that there was someone out there willing to listen to them.
Maybe Jimin would still treat him like how he always treated Jungkook, pulling on his cheeks, saying how cute he was. Maybe he wouldn't push Jungkook out of his life just because the younger one told him how he really felt towards him.
It would be a new chapter in their lives, indeed, and they'd continue to cherish their friendship.
It wouldn't be the end.
It would just be the beginning.
