Chapter 17: The Fourth Floor
Jason collapsed onto the forth floor of the mansion. "Finally! Better air!" He sighed.
"Jason are you-?" Sky started, but didn't finish.
"Yes, I'm fine sky." Jason looked up at him and smiled.
"Well that's good.." Sky replied.
Ian looked around a bit, examining the new terrain. "You'd think it would smell even worse up here.." He pondered out loud.
"Yeah no kidding. I guess the third floor was the death room" suggested Tyler.
Nobody replied to his comment. Nobody seemed to have any words to place onto the word "death". They all had witnesses the deaths of four of their friends. So, they walked. They walked down the same looking halls with the same clocks, though, once again, the spot where the four was had red smeared on it. The thoughts of "who was next" swam through all of their heads. But, they had to keep going. They had to find the others, and they had to get out.
Not long after walking they came across a small totem in the middle of the opening. Including the way they came from, there were four ways to go.
"What is this thing?" Jerome questioned as he crouched down to examine the stone structure.
"Your asking us?" Jason asked, "Were in the same boat as you."
"Yeah I guess.." Jerome murmured, standing back up.
"It's a three way path" Tyler butted in. "I don't think well have enough time to go each way."
"So are you suggesting we just split up? That plan has never worked." Sky quickly interrupted. "That's how people get killed, Tyler!"
"I know I know..but we need to cover more ground. We also will have a better chance of finding the others."
The six boys all looked at each other. They hated the idea, but it was really their only option.
"Then I guess we should form groups" Jason said nervously.
This time, everyone nodded in agreement.
"Here" Clocky pointed, the two of them standing in front of the new flight if stairs.
"He's up there?" Seto asked, gazing at the darkness above them.
Clocky nodded, Seto still staring at the staircase. "How many floors are there anyway?"
" I don't know if I can tell you that.." Clocky replied quietly. "I'm sorry.."
"It's alright" Seto hushed him. "I can probably figure it out on my own"
As the two began to walk up the stairs, Seto looked back at the clock one last time before submerging himself in even more darkness.
"4:16" He mumbled to himself. "We have enough time.."
Ty, still alone, and still on the third floor, wasn't doing so well himself. He couldn't take it anymore, and began to run and yell.
"Sub! Sky! Jason! Can anyone hear me!?" He shouted, his footsteps echoing through the halls. "Please someone answer me! I don't want to be alone!"
The face of the monster seemed to follow him, along with the darkness and ticking of the clock. He didn't want to be in this hell hole any longer. He needed someone to be with him. Anyone.
He then stopped, out of breath, noticing an open door with a light coming from it. Slowly, Ty walked into it.
"Someone was here.." Ty murmured to himself.
The room was a classroom: desk and chairs everywhere. There was even some paper on the desks. Ty then approached a desk to see what was on the paper.
"He was here...Sub was here!" He said aloud.
With a little hope left in him, he scavenged the room, taking anything that could be used as a weapon or to eat, and left, this time prepared.
The groups were finalized: Jerome and Sky were going to the right, Tyler and Sub going strait, and Ian and Jason to the left. They were all nervous, but Jason was especially nervous.
"What if something happens again? I know it will! The same thing is going to happen like it did last time..." Jason exclaimed.
"And that's why were going to meet here at 4:45" Ian assured him and he began to walk down the narrow hall.
Jason nodded then rushed after him, the other groups taking off as well.
A few more minutes passed as Tyler and Sub were checking doors around their hall. Sub, being ahead if Tyler, was able to open a door. As he looked inside, a small light shone down on a small kitchen in the center if the room. Since he couldn't tell for Tyler, he quickly ushered him into the room.
"Woah..nice going Sub! Now, let's see if this place has any food stored." Tyler spoke as he trekked further into the room, sub following close behind him.
He decided to check the places that food would most likely be: the freezer, cupboards, pantries. He decided to check with the freezer since food would most likey be there first. But, as soon as he opened the freezer, he immediately regret his decision.
"Oh my god!" Tyler said, stepping back and covering his mouth as if to throw up. As Sub peered over, he noticed that it wasn't food that was being stored in the freezer, but body parts.
"T-this is disgusting.." Tyler trembled as he continued to stare at the frost covered faces and limbs. "Why would anyone do this..?"
Sub shook his head, closing the door of the freezer so they wouldn't have to look at it anymore. Neither of them wanted to check any further, knowing there might be more dead parts lying around.
On the other hand, Sky and Jerome seemed to have a more of a luckier, but strange find.
"Hey Sky, take a look at this!" Jerome exclaimed to his friend as he opened a door, leading to a humid room.
As Sky walked over to take a look, he was immediately amazed on what Jerome had found.
"A green house? Why would a mansion need a green house?" Sky questioned as he stepped into the well-lit room.
"Your asking me..." Jerome shrugged as he followed after.
Sky started to wander around the room, taking a look at some of the plants. "Maybe we could eat these?"
"I dunno...we don't want to get poisoned." He said as he looked around the room.
Plants and tress covered the glass walls as an artificial sun lit up the room. There looked to be a path, but the room was so densely covered with plant growth that it was barely visible.
"Hey tomatoes!" Sky suddenly announced as he made his way over to a bright red plant, examining it.
"Your way to exited about this aren't you?" Jerome smiled, getting a nod in reply from Sky.
But, things weren't going so well for Jason and Ian, as the light went out, and everything went black.
"Ian? Ian where are you? I can't see a thing! Please answer me!"
