Chapter 19: Five o' clock
Sitting in a slumped heap on the ground, Ian had given up. The fate of the rest of them was sealed; there was no way they would all escape this alive. He didn't care what would happen next. All he could think about was the death of them all.
Am I next? Ian thought Was I supposed to be alone? Is this where I die?
The ominous ticking of the clock continued to ring out, constantly reminding him of the fate of his friends and himself. The pictures of the dead bodies flashed through his brain like strobe lights.
First it was Mitch. He should've been the last to go out of all of them. After being impaled with several arrows, the mood of the party completely changed. And poor Jerome...the two were like brothers. If only he could've survived a bit longer.
Next came Brice, The king of gold (or as sky would call it, "butter"). He was smart and quick witted. He was also a good leader and very creative. Unfortunately, his life was cut short early on as well, being mauled by a mysterious creature who only wanted blood.
Bashur and Bodil were quick to go after. Being the two comic reliefs of the group, things got a lot more depressing after their brutal murders. Bashur died the same way as Brice, and Bodil was impaled with several knives left to hang on the wall. It seemed things were only about to get worse.
Looking at the clock, it was just barley ten minutes away from five. Ian had a slight feeling in his stomach that told him he was the one to die next. He was somewhat glad, as he would rather have it be him then them. As the clock hands continued to move, then sooner he began to accept his fate. How would he die? Maybe by that same creature that killed Brice and Bashur? Or maybe some kinds of weapon? He was the best at PvP out of the group, maybe he would have to fight to the death with some beast or....
Seto.
How could he forget about Seto? He had entered the building with Seto and Bodil. They had all become separated after arguing; Bodil and Ian reunited while Seto was left somewhere in this Hellhole.
If I die...Seto might come back to a group without the two people he started with..
He couldn't put that guilt on one person. It would break him...
Standing up, Ian had regained a bit of his focus and motivation.
I'm the only one who can kill this creature and end the game... Ian thought to himself. I can save everyone else..I'm the most skilled with a sword...
Slapping himself in the face, Ian shook off the despair from his shoulders. The dead relied on him, Seto relied on him, his friends relied on him. Ian now knew what he had to do, he couldn't be a coward and hide. As soon as that lock struck five, he will kill the beast that took his friends.
"I'm going to kill it..." Ian muttered to himself.
"YOU HEAR ME BEAST?!" He shouted. "IM GOING TO KILL YOU!" His spite filled words echoed down the hallway as he began to walk down them once again.
He had seen it, and damn it hurt like a bitch. Ty sat against the wall trying to stop his arm from bleeding, applying pressure as he could. He was walking up the stairs when he caught a glimpse of something walking down the halls, Thinking it was one of the guys, he ran at it, only to realize this was no human, but a monster. The thing had noticed Ty, turning around to slash his arm open. However, it didn't attack him any further. It simply cut his arm, and fled.
"Shit..." Ty muttered to himself. He watched as the blood continued to seep from his arm. He had nothing to use to protect it or wrap it in but his shirt which he preferred on his chest. However, he had no other choice. He began to rip off the sleeves of his shirt, though it was extremely difficult to do. Ty wrapped the cloth around his wound, and tried to stand up.
THUD
Ty hit the ground, gravity beating him to the ground. His head was spinning and it was hard to focus. He leaned back against the wall, his head pounding as he tried to apply pressure on it with his hand. To no avail did any of his attempts work.
Cursing under his breath, he thought it would be best to wait until it was five o' clock to begin moving. Nothings really changed other than the lights. And besides, it was a good way to track his progress. What could possibly go wrong? Only a few more minutes to go, then he would get up and find the others.
"Yeah...they're fine..Ill catch up soon.."
"Ian...? Ian is that you?" A voice shouted from down the hall way. Immediately stopping in his tracks still in a blind hunt, Ian whipped around knowing the voice that boomed down the hall.
"Jerome? Jerome what are you doing? Where's the rest of your group?"
Jerome ran down the hall, stopping a few feet away from Ian, slightly out of breath. "Jason told us you two got separated so we went out looking for you. Thank Notch your ok..."
Ian looked behind Jerome, not seeing or hearing anyone else. "Where..where are the rest of the guys?" He questioned
"Oh, well I kinda ran off in search for you after Jason had told us. I don't think the rest of them could catch up with me heh..." Jerome brushed off his carelessness, but Ian was quick to catch him.
"Do you even remember the way you came back from? You probably should've all went as a group to find me, the more we're split off the less chance we have of killing-"
Jerome cut him off "killing it? How are we supposed to kill that thing? Besides maybe we can distract it. And they have Sky, and I have you. You guys are both pretty good at defending yourselves."
Ian smiles slightly, not used to the compliments. "Thanks, Fluffy. But we should really be going, it's almost-"
On cue, the first ring of the clock rang out. With each ring, the hallway became more and more red tinted.
"Shit..." Jerome muttered, staying close to Ian as he held out his sword.
"Don't worry, if it comes for us, I'm sure I can kill it" Ian assured him. Though his hopes were higher than before, something inside him began to grow with doubt that it would actually happen. Maybe it would go for the others? It would be his fault they weren't there. Shaking his head, he tried to get ride of all the thoughts that would cloud his brain, focusing solely on the two discretions on either side of him.
As he heard the monstrous foot prints run down the hallway, he turned to face the right side of the hall. He saw the beast charging at them, fangs beard, claws sharp, and an odd smell following it through the air. Ian positioned his sword in front of him, ready to engage in combat.
Soon, nobody else would die. He was not going to let this thing get away with murder. It would all end soon. Nobody else will die. They could all escape with their lives and nobody would be left forgotten.
With one large jump, the creature leaped into the air, heading right for them.......
