"Don't lose me"

Rob up there. 

Rob POV

  "Come on Rob.  Stop playing with me." The random guy said as I looked him. The fuck is he talking about? "Rob stop playing with me." he said rubbing his cheek as he smiled weakly at me. "I'm so-" "Rob! Oh my god!" I turned to see Alexis standing in the doorway on the verge of a break down. She wasn't alone either. A couple of my family members as well as Malik was right behind her. Everyone was on the verge of a breakdown. "What's going on? Why are you all looking at me like that?" I said confused. 

  "Man you are so clueless." Alexis said as I laughed. "Son, what day is it?" my dad asked as  I looked at him. "It's Wednesday. Duh." I said. "Of what month?" the doctor said as he walked into the room. By this point, some of my family were exiting the room to give him some space. "It's April." I said as I looked at him. "Robert, its now the second week of July." he said as I looked at him like he was crazy. I slowly observed what everyone was wearing. Nothing but shorts and tanks/short sleeve shirts with the matching low top sneakers/sandals."So how long has it been?" I asked confused.  

  "Um, it's been about 4 months Rob." Alexis said after a moment of silence. I looked at the guy sitting next to me, it looks like he hasn't sleep in that long. "Stop playing." I said busting out laughing. Nobody laughed with me though. "I'm so serious." she responded as I gave her my full attention. "We were starting to think you wasn't gonna come back." she said as tears started to well up in my eyes. "I've been out for four months? What about my place? Do I still have a job?" I asked as more and more questions started to roam around in my head. "I explained what happened to you so fortunately, I was able to salvage your job. That's only if you can prove to them that your still capable of doing the task effectively. Of course I'll retrain you so that you will." she started.   

  "What about where I'm going to stay?" I asked as she gave me a sad look. "I tried to save that to Rob but the landlord wasn't trying to hear it. Seeing as though you were out for so long and nobody had the money to-" "You still have your place." my brother said walking into the room. I looked back at Alexis as she looked confused. "We started a go fund me for you which actually helped keep that in check. Me and Mia (Rob's sister) managed to strike a deal with him and two weeks ago was the deadline.  However, you missed your inspections and there's a couple of thing in your place that needs repairs so you won't be to go back to it just yet." he said as I breathed out a sigh of relief. 

  "Thank you guys so much. So, I'm guessing that I'll be staying with one of you?" I asked as they looked at me like I had four heads or something. "Uh, actually you'll be staying with me." the guy said nervously. They're trusting me with a complete stranger. That's not weird at all. "Uh, that's nice and all but you guys are leaving me with a stranger?" I said with my eyebrow raised as he mirrored my facial expression. "He's not a stranger though." he said with his arms crossed. "Well then who exactly is he because I don't know him."  I said as the room got mad quiet. "Nobody is gonna say anything?" I asked as I scanned the room. Everyone looked confused or just at a lost for words. 

  I turned around to him. "Since nobody wants to say anything I guess I'll just ask you. Look..." "Derrick" he interjected. "Derrick, who exactly are you to me?" I asked him. He took a deep breath before answering. "I'm just a friend of the family that's all. We grew up together." he said as I nodded my head. "I guess we lost contact after a few years because I don't really remember much about you." I said as he nodded his head. "Yeah.....that's it." he said giving me a weak smile. "Ah OK cool. Looks like the family trusts you a lot since they letting me stay with you. That's cool with me since at least I have a roof over my head for the time being. Thank you." I said as he smiled. "Not a problem."

  "Now that that is settled, where is my baby Troy?" I said as that statement seems to have blown everyone away. "What?" 

Derrick POV   

  Hearing him say that nigga's name killed me. I'm not even gonna lie. That shit hurt like a motherfucker. It would've been better if he said Darion's name at this point. "Was it something I said? Why y'all looking at me like that?" he asked. They looking at you like that because your actual boyfriend is sitting right here listening to speak about a nigga we buried a long time ago. "Uh, nothing. You hungry?" Alexis asked him as I turned my head to hide the pissed off expression I was showing. "Actually, I was wondering when I could leave." he said as he twiddled with his fingers.

  "We'd like to keep you overnight just to keep watch. If everything checks out, you can go home tomorrow." the doctor said as he got a little excited. Seeing him like that was a bit bittersweet at this very moment. "Ight, I'm gonna go." I said as I stood up to leave. "Wait." he said as he grabbed my arm. "Wassup?" I asked him. "You are coming to pick me up tomorrow right?" he asked as I gave him a weak smile. "Yeah sure. I get off early tomorrow so I should be back here around 3 or 4. You want me to bring you some change of clothes?" I asked him. "Please? Thank you so much." he said as he smiled at me. That smile that I've grown to love so much. Damn. "Ight bet. I'll see you tomorrow." I smiled back at him as he let my hand go. "Thanks a lot Derrick." he said as he let my arm go. 

  I just nodded my head as I turned and headed out the door. "Derrick Wait!" Alexis called to me as I stopped walking. "Hey, I know this is hard for you to wrap your mind around but please be patient with him. I'm sure he'll get his memory back." she said. "What if he doesn't" I asked as she got quiet. "Don't say that. He'll remember, I'm positive." she said trying to avoid the obvious answer. "Yeah ight. I have to go Lex. I'll see you later." I said as I gave her a hug. "Just don't give up on him. He had enough of that." she said as she let me go and walked back to the room. Happy Birthday to me. 

Rob POV      

  "Is everything OK?" I asked Alexis as she walked back into the room with her head held down. "Yeah everything's cool baby boy." she said obviously lying to me. I wasn't gonna press the issue though. "Is he OK?" I asked her. "He's cool. He just want to spend the last few hours celebrating his birthday." she said as I started to feel bad. He spent his birthday here when he could've been enjoying himself. Now I feel bad. "Hey can I have my phone?" I asked as my mom handed me her phone. It'll do I guess. "Does anyone have his number?" I asked them. Alexis took the phone and I guess dialed his number. She quickly handed it back to me as he answered. "Hello?" "Hey....um hi." I said mad awkward. 

  "Wassup Rob?" he asked as I twiddled with my thumbs. "Um, I heard it was your was your birthday so first lemme say happy birthday." I said. "Thanks I really appreciate it." he responded. After he said that, it got silent. I looked up as everyone was staring at me intensely. I rolled my eyes as I looked out the window. "So I was wondering, would you like to spend the rest of the day with me?" I said fast as hell. "Ooooooooo" I heard them whisper. "Uh yeah sure. Just gimme a few mins to get changed. I'll be right back." he said as I agreed before hanging up. "Can someone get him a birthday cake before he comes back. I feel bad that he wasted his birthday." I said as my mother nodded her head. "I understand. We'll be back. You just get some rest." she said as everyone left with her. 

  I guess I actually went to sleep after that because when I woke up, there was a cake on the table in front of me. Shortly after that, there was a knock at the door. I took a few minutes before telling them to come in. Derrick walked in as I smiled at him. "Happy Birthday!" I said to him as I held the cake in my hand. "Awww man, thank you so much Rob." he said smiling back at me. "Not a problem. I felt so bad about you missing most of your birthday so it's the least I could do." I said as he nodded his head. Thank god they brought paper plates and a plastic utensils. "You gonna eat a piece?" he asked as I nodded my head. I stopped him from cutting the cake as he looked at me confused. "Aren't you gonna make a wish?" I asked him.

 "Oh yeah, my bad." He said as he closed his eyes. "There." he smiled as he cut the cake. "I brought a few games for us to play as well as some changing clothes for you tomorrow." he said as I smiled. "Cool. Let's play." I said as we started to play some games. I don't know how long it's been but I was really enjoying him being here. I looked at his watch and saw that it was now 1 AM. "Well birthday boy, did you enjoy your day?" I asked him as he looked at something on his phone. "Yeah I really did. I beat you twice at your favorite game." he said as he laughed. "Yeah whatever. I let you win that's all." I said salty as hell.  "Babe chill." I heard him say, only it wasn't him actually talking. 

  "He a hater y'all. Never letting me be great. What? Yes your are." he laughed. "Duh I'm yours. Get outta here." he laughed as he stopped the video. "You have a boyfriend?" I asked surprised. he didn't strike me as gay. "Yeah.." he said trailing off. "I just wasn't expecting that. If you don't mind me asking, where is he?" I said as he looked away. "He went away for a bit, just waiting for him to come back that's all." he said as he started intensely at me. "Oh, OK. I hope it's soon because I would love to meet him." I said as I smiled at him. "Likewise." he said as he began to yawn. "How about we call it a night?" I said as he nodded his head. 

  "Good night Rob." he said as he pulled out a blanket and got comfortable in the chair. I felt bad about him being in that cramped ass chair. "Hey, you wanna get in the bed?" I asked as he slowly opened his eyes. "Sure." he said as he got up and  walked over to the bed as I made room for him. I gave him some of my blanket as I turned on my side. "Good night Derrick." I said. "Good night b- Rob." he said as I shrugged it off and drifted off into dreamland.

The Next Day  

    When I woke up this morning, Derrick was gone. "Sheesh he could've at least told me" I said as I yawned. I walked into the bathroom and did my morning before walking out and getting dressed. "Ready to go?" Derrick said as he walked into the room. Welp this is awkward. Shirt is off and I was in the middle of pulling my pants up. Ass propped up like a trophy *sigh*. "Uh..." we both said at the same time. He was still staring at me which made the situation even worse. "Derrick!" I yelled, snapping him out of his trance. "Guess I should've knocked. Here's your breakfast. I'll be waiting outside." he said placing a IHop bag down and walked out the room. 

  I didn't even think he was coming back.  I quickly got dressed and sat on the bed before telling him to come back in. "I'm sorry." we both said as we laughed. We didn't even bother to speak further on the situation so I began to eat my food. "Where were you?" I asked like the answer wasn't obvious. "Welp you're eating it plus I had to sign your release papers so we're good to go whenever you're ready." he said as I did a little happy dance as I ate. "Man move." he said laughing. Once I was finished, I threw the trash out and began to put on my sneakers. "No games huh?" "Nope now let's go." I said as I grabbed my things and walked out the room. 

   I was happy as hell to be outside and get a feel of this summer weather. Not gonna lie, it did make me appreciate the air conditioned room. "We right here." he said pointing to his car. it was pretty nice if I must say so. "Your boyfriend must love this car." I said as he laughed. "Love it so much that he drives it more times then his own car." he said laughing. As soon as he started the car, music started playning. "Love it when I'm flexing up in my car, door swing open from my passenger. Look up in the mirror, fix my mascara, people wanna know who the hell is her." it went as I instantly caught on. "Drop top ride in my coupe DeVille. I stay mobbing in my hoopty still. Rattling in the trunk when I play the track. Swerve to the left, yelling holler back" I rapped with Dawn. 

  "My song! They looking so thirsty, might just need a drink, lemonade, lemonade." I sung as Derrick just smiled and pulled out the parking lot while I turned the song up and got lit. "I'm rockin' my sunnie's, to block all this shade. We over here setting up shop, slingin' lemonade." I sung. I even did the 3 part harmony at the end of the song. "Your boyfriend has taste!" I said as he laughed. "Yeah he be putting my on some songs. I'm not telling him that though." he said as I laughed with him We rode in a comfortable silence as I more songs played and I looked at how beautiful the city looked at the moment. we was interrupted by his phone ringing. "Hello? Hold on." he said as he handed me the phone.

  "Hello?" I said as I answered. "Rob! My best friend is finally out!" she yelled into my ear. "I still need my hearing." I said laughing. "Oh shut up. I'm just happy you're finally out the hospital. Troy asked about you." she said lowly. "Has he? What did my baby say?" I said hype as hell. "He was just asking if you was OK and when you would be getting out." she said as I smiled. "Well I gotta see him soon." I said as Derrick snatched the phone out of my hand. "Hey." I laughed as he hung up the phone. That was petty. "That was disrespectful to my best friend." I said as he didn't say anything. The mood seemed to have changed to a more serious one and it was making me uncomfortable to be honest. 

  When we finally pulled up to his place, he parked the car as he got out and walked to the house. "What's his problem?" I said as I got out the car with my things before locking the door.
