"Ain't no setting up"

Troy up there.

Rob POV.

  It's been a week since me and Troy started taking things a bit more serious then before. I still haven't given him my number just yet. Well, I tried once but he denied. He said that he was liking the pace that we were going. I couldn't argue with that. "Rob, yo!" Alexis said laughing. "Huh?" I said as I looked at here. "What be going on in that head of yours? I need whatever you on." she laughed as I glared at her. "Nothing, it's just a habit I picked up when I'm bored." I said as I shrugged my shoulders. Daydreaming just comes out of no where for me to be quite honest. Like I could be in the of conversation and zone the person out like it's nothing. I don't be meaning it though. 

  "We going to the party tonight?" she said as I looked at her confused. "You literally didn't hear anything I said huh?" she said as I shook my head. "You are something else. Anywhore, there a party going on tonight. I think we should go and get our weekend started off right. You down?" she asked as I thought about it. I mean i'm really nothing doing nothing anyway so why not have some fun tonight? "Sure I'm down." I said as she smiled. "We're gonna have so much fun tonight." she said jumping up and down as I laughed at her. She's so childish. "Alexis can you take the register?" the pharmacist asked interrupting the moment. Petty. "Sure. Alexis said as she looked at me and we both laughed. We caught that shit. 

  "Rob, can you call the insurance for this patient, then file these prescriptions and then scan this patient out?" she said as I stared at her like she was crazy. "Then you want me to wait for Mose's to part the red sea too huh?" I said as I heard Alexis laugh in the background (A/N: I said this in real life too). Like how the hell you just gonna pile shit on me like that. Ain't even leave in room for me to take a breath or sip of water.  She let out a laugh as I walked to do everything she just asked. Luckily for us, everything was going good. Another good day. "I'm here to get my scrip filled. They sent me over from the hospital with this." the guy said as he threw the stuff on the counter. I had to slowly do a 360 to stop myself from fucking shit up. I kinda grabbed the paper and picked it up, typing in the information. 

  "How long that's gonna take?" he said with an attitude. How the fuck would I know if I haven't typed the shit in yet. "Give me a few minutes to see if you have a profile and to type it up first." I said holding back the apparent attitude I was feeling. I gave the pharmacist the 'I'm about to snap, get him one and done' look. She took the nod and printed his script as we filled it. He made the woman he was with sit on the half step out front while he went down the street. I felt bad for her.  When they came back, I was ready to get him out of here. "He don't have the copay." she said with an attitude. Did I say I was feeling bad? Fuck her. "Here. Have a nice day." I said putting on the fakest smile ever. I let out a deep breath as the left and returned to do what I do best. 

  The rest of the day was filled with nothing but laughs as we all chilled and have fun. I definitely need that little outing tonight. What's odd about today is the Troy hasn't hit me up once today. I just let it ride though but it's slightly weird. "You ready to go?" Alexis asked me as I nodded my head. 

Later That Night

  My phone was ringing like crazy as I was tying my sneakers up. "Well damn. Somebody better had died. Hello?!" I said as I tried to maneuver with the phone and my shoestrings in  my hands. "Hurry up, I'm outside." Alexis said as I laughed. "My nigga you calling me like you was on ya death bed or something don't play with me." I said in between laughs. "I am dying of boredom here." she said. "You could've came in. You know what never mind I'm coming now." I said as I hung up. I made sure to put some lotion on my hands before leaving out. Ashy hands are a no. Once I checked myself out in the mirror, I headed out the door to see Lex sitting in her Impala. "Come on." I said as I walked to her car. "Finally." she said as I got in. 

  Before we went to the party, we made sure to go over the rules. No leaving each other, no taking drinkings from random niggas, text each other every half an hour, we make each other's drink and we make sure that we're in eye contact of each other. "Let's get it." she we walked in. The music was blasting as we walked in there. "Wicked" was blasting as we walked through the crowd of people. "Aye." Lex said as we finally found a spot and started dancing. Out the corner of my eye, I spotted someone familiar. I didn't pay it no mind but kept dancing. You gets no love by Faith Evans started playing as I really started feeling it. I looked in that same spot and made out who the person actually was. So that's why you haven't been talking to me. 

  "Play with my emotions, you gets no devotion. You can't get no love from me" the chorus said as I danced. He looked in my direction and it's like all the color left his already half baked faced. Sugar cookie head ass nigga. Funny thing is, I'm not even mad even though it may seem like I am. Let's be real, we're not exclusive or anything like that. I did feel played but it is what it is. In the name of love by Letoya Luckett started playing as I turned around vibed out. "In the name of love, let your heart speak for you." she sung as I continued to dance. It felt like a 90's party in here and I literally had no worries tonight. "That's my friend y'all." Alexis said as We continued to dance. When the song ended, Troy decided to make his way to me. "I'm going to get something to drink, you want something?" I said as she nodded her head yeah. She never said what so I'll just bring her what I'm getting. 

  "Wait lemme explain." Troy said trying to catch up to me. "I'm not even mad Troy. Go enjoy your night my man's. It's not like we're in a relationship or anything like that anyway. We just talked, that's all." I said turning around to continue my walk into the kitchen.  "Nah chill. Stop walking away from me man." he said as he followed me. At this point I was starting to become annoyed. "What?" I said as I let out a sigh. "Listen it really wasn't what it look like, my boys invited me out for a night out and I decided to join them. When shorty came up to dance with me, I ain't mind because I'm not focused on her right now. However I do want to have a good time while I'm here." He said as I laughed. "See this is what I find funny, you have an explanation for this but not for why i haven't heard from you all day." I said as he looked at me, trying to figure out what to say. 

  "Exactly. Have a nice night Troy and I really hope you enjoy yourself tonight." I said as I walked past him with me and Alexis' soda. Call me petty, dramatic or whatever but that's just how I feel. "Here you go." I said as I handed Alexis her soda. We continued to dance the night away. I'm just starting to enjoy myself now. Shortly after that, I started to get a hungry. There wasn't really anything to eat here. "Lex I'm going to get something to eat from that Chinese store we rode past, you want something?" I asked her. "Nah I'll just eat what you're getting. You want me to come with you?" she said as I shook my head. "Nah it's literally right there. You can wait on the step for me if you want." I said as she followed me to the door. "Hurry up back and text me every step of the way." she said as I nodded my head. 

  I did just like she said and made my way back to her. I hope she likes fried scallops and shrimp fried rice. "Hey you talk to Troy?" I heard a voice say but ignored it. Two guys appeared in front of me. "You his little boo huh?" they said as I looked at them weirdly. I mean we talk but it's not that deep as of late. One of them tried to smack my food out of my hand as I blocked that shit. "Nice reflexes, he picked a good one." the other one said. Why can't I just enjoy myself man? I tied the bag up and got ready because clearly this is what they wanted. One of them tried to swing on me while I dodged that shit and began to beat his ass. I was so focused on him that I forgot about the other dude as he was sending some heavy ass blows to my back. I  threw ole dude down and went to work on his friend. 

  The pain in my back was forcing my body to lock up though. When his friend got back up, he punched me in the same spot, making my body cramp up. A few more blows and then my body completely shut down. The best thing I could do was block my face right now. After that, everything went dark. 

The Next Day. 

   I woke up feeling like I got thrown out of a plane with no parachute and then steam rolled to perfection. I looked to see that I was definitely not in my house. I was still to weak to even more so yeah, there's that too. I hope I didn't get raped on top of what already happened. God please tell me that didn't happen. "Glad you finally woke up. Thought you was dead or something." A familiar voice said walking in the room:  

  I just looked at him confused. I really wanted to know what the hell was going on. "I found you balled up on the ground outside. I'm guessing you went to that party. My cousin lives around that way so I decided to stop by the Chinese store on my way home. That's when I found you like that. Your phone has  been blowing up since last night. How about you handle that first and then tell me how the hell did that happen to you?" he said no even giving me enough time to answer before he walked out the room. I really couldn't focus that much on what he said cause did y'all see that body?! 

  I looked around for my phone, wincing in pain at the same time. I looked and saw about 100 missed calls and texts from Alexis. I also had a few from Troy but I'm not really worried about him right now. I quickly called Alexis back and explained everything that happened. She decided to take off work to come see me. The thing is, I don't even know where I'm at and if it'll be OK for her to come over here. "Lex, Imma text you the address. Go finish do what you doing. I'll see you later." I said as I hung up the phone. It was still setting in that I actually got jumped last night. Good thing I got a good look at their faces. Best believe I'm on that ass when I get better.

  "Here, these should help you feel somewhat better." Derrick said as he had a bottle of ginger ale and two pills in his hands. "Luckily I still had some ibuprofen's left. These are the strong ones so I think 1 should do you good but I bought the second one just in case." he said as he handed them to me. "Thank you so much. I'm really thankful for everything you've done so far." I said as I smiled at him as I took the pills. "Not a problem. Who knows what would've happened if I wasn't there. Can I see you ribs real quick? I wanna make sure there's nothing wrong with them." he asked as I looked at him confused. "I have a minor in physical therapy too." he said as I laughed. I slowly lifted up my shirt as he pressed against it. At first I wasn't feeling anything until he reached the middle and yelp in pain/ punched him. "Well I can definitely tell you that it's not broken. Just bruised so I'll get you an ice pack and that should help. Nice punch." he said as he laughed. 

  When he came back with the ice pack, I hissed at the coldness of it. I'm a big baby, yeah, yeah, yeah, judge your mom. "Um is it cool if my friend comes over here? She just wants to check on me that's all." I said as he nodded his head. "That's not a problem at all. She need my address?" he asked as I nodded my head. Once he told me, I texted her and withing 15 minutes, she was here. I swear she was part ninja or something. "Oh my baby!" she said sounding like a concerned parent. She went from sad to pissed. "Wait I'm OK thanks to Derrick here. I know I broke our rule but it could've been worse with you with me. Trust me it's not over." I said reassuring her. "Thank you so much for everything." she said as she thanked him. She stayed over for about two more hours before deciding to leave. "Text me when you get home." I said to her as she walked out. 

  After she left, I thought it was best to follow suit. I slowly rose up as Derrick looked at me."You don't have to go nor are you in any condition to do so. Lay down man." he laughed as I did just that. "I got some clothes that could probably fit you so you good." he added. I was literally about to ask that.  "What about your girlfriend? I don't want to cause problems." I said honestly. "She won't be coming here today. All I want to do is sleep any way and she knows this so yeah." he said as I laughed. He lazy. Within a few minutes, he was out cold. He must've been real tired. I was worried that this would've been a problem for him but clearly it isn't. He was laying right beside me. His head accidentally touched my ribs. I scooted over some to create some space but it happened again. He's definitely a semi-wild sleeper. 

  I didn't even bother to move again, it was already painful the first time. I ran my fingers through his waves since they were right here. He has some soft hair too. He looks so adorable when he sleeps. I hope my boyfriend is something like this. I'm really thankful for everything that he has done.  After about 5 mins of doing that, the ibuprofen's started to kick in as I started to feel mad tired (effects they have on me). I moved over a little bit more before falling asleep.
