"Is that a dead body?"

He flinches.

"Maybe?"

Skylar glares.

"I promise I'll clean it up before dinner."

"Why is there a dead body in my kitchen, Lee?"

Lee scratches the back of his head, before muttering something incomprehensible.

"What?"

"I said, I was trying to summon a demon."

She chokes out a laugh.

Oh God, this is brilliant, she thinks.

Just brilliant.

At this point, she's not even surprised.

"Listen, if you want to conjure some demon spawn from the great beyond, that's all fine and dandy. Just wait for me to leave before you start."

He winces, guiltily gesturing towards the pair of lemons dangling from his head.

"It's started already."

A pause.

"Skylar, why are you glaring at me?"

She tilts her head, the corners of her mouth lifting slightly.

"No reason, I was just hoping you'd spontaneously combust."

The boy pales, eyes widening.

"Sky, come on, don't be like that."

He purses his lips into a pout, wildly batting his eyelashes.

She sighs.

Considering the fact that this isn't the craziest thing Lee Johnson has done in their twelve years of friendship, she decides to be the bigger person, and ignore the fact that her kitchen tiles are starting to stain from all that blood.

"Alright," she mutters,  "hand me some lemons."
