My stomach churned and flipped as I gathered myself the confidence to line up with everyone else. One would say I had butterflies big enough for lift off. Once the last few people stepped outside into the cold, dry air we waited about ten minutes before people actually showed up. My expectations were really low. My family would never care enough to come to something such as this. A couple people got creeped, or were too nervous, and randomly morphed. Let's just say there was a lot of noise like: howling, screaming, and mostly scattering. My head hung low and I moved towards the back half of the 'pack'. Shivering, I stood as still as possible and tried not to morph myself. I resisted the temptation to sit down because of my sore legs from the race and raw feet. Curious, I watched the random people come in and greet their family. Some didn't care as much though, and left a few moments after saying hi. I felt alone until something unexpected happened. My mother walked into the room and looked among us. I almost shouted. I pranced over and said hello in a professional way. She just looked at me. "I have some news for you, Destiny" she announced. "People say they have spotted a 'wolf' chasing a rabbit earlier in the woods. And apparently there isn't supposed to be any in the area. If I ever find it was YOU, I will take you to a foster home, you understand! Confused I took a step back. How did she know? Was it not safe here? I couldn't have gone too far chasing that rabbit. I crept away and went to clear my head. If humans were that close to here they would have surely found out about everything. I decided to take a small walk. But before I made another move, something hit me in my shoulder and I collapsed. The Earth seemed to be swallowed by darkness, and all noise faded.
