~Sunset~

Sky's perspective :)

I ran out of the car.
What happened with Dylan earlier was crazy.
Weird.
Different.
I ran down the hill we were on and faced the water.
Splish splash...
Splish splash...
I loved hearing water! It was so soothing and relaxing!
The reason my family and I came was, like any family, a vacation. I mean, it's SUMMER! Wake up people! No need for warm coats and four layers of shirts, pants and socks.
But, there's another reason we came.
A reason I came.
My best friend, Cody, was always around here.
He was the sporty type. All the girls loved him in school. But he chose me as best friend. We'd always come here.
During nice summers, our families would get together and ride into the sand dunes.
It was an extraordinaire feeling, riding up the sand and sailing through the air.
Cody would always be in the water or on Death Stroke Dune, the highest dune at Moses.
Actually, that's what we named it.
I'd always persuade him to climb it with me, but he'd just put his index finger up and say,
"I have a faster idea!", already running off.
He always came back with his bike and ride up.
But, I was already there. Waiting.
And smiling.

Dylan walked over and sat down.
"Your butt's gon' get sandy," I said.
"So is yours," He pulled me down to my sitting state.
I rolled my eyes, but they landed on the sun. Almost below the horizon.
In this exact spot, Cody would be humming his favorite song, Somewhere on a Beach, one of my favorites as well.
I sat there, pretending that Cody was right next to me.
"I'm somewhere on a beach, sippin' something strong. Got a new girl, she got it going on." I started whispering.
I felt Dylan's eyes on me.
As the last bit of sun went below the horizon, I said his name.
"Cody,"
"Who's Cody?" I heard Dylan ask.
Damn it! I totally forgot he was here.
"Uh, he's my brother! My old brother!" I fibbed.
I slowly reached toward the water.
"Mom said you don't have a brother," He grabbed my wrist.
"B-but, I do! I really d-" I was suddenly scooped up in a wave.
"Sky!" Dylan pulled me back.
I was soaked.
"Th-thanks," I scratched my neck, blushing but, dripping wet.
"No problem, lets go get you cleaned up," He got up, still holding my wrist.
I pulled away and sat there, Cody racing through my mind.
"What's wrong? Are yo-" And I think he got me. He knew what I was thinking about. I was busted.
But why does he care?
"I'm just enjoying the sunset. I love sunsets, you know, they're so-"
"You're thinking about that Cody kid. Who's he?" Dylan interrupted.
I was expecting that. How, you ask? Because, he's just one of those guys.
"He is my best friend. He always sang here and sat by me. I guess this reminded me of him. Why do you care, may I ask?" I tried to sound fancy. I'm horrible at that.
"Oh, I was just wondering, do you like him?"
Now, that threw me off.
"Maybe, maybe not," I was confident in my answer.
What if I like you, what if I like Jordy Mio, the rude, stuck up jock at school?
I dunno!
"Do you like me?"
CALM DOWN, BOY!!!
"Um, no comment,"
Then, I got up and walked toward the trailer.
