Chapter 29- The decision
"What? She did not just do that." I said out loud.
"What is she saying?" Asked April.
"She's telling me that I have twelve hours to go back to Trinel or she'll kill my family."
"What? That's insane."
"What should I do now?"
"It's obvious, we're going back to Trinel. Your family is on the line here."
"It may be an empty threat."
"After what she did to you, I don't really think that woman plays around."
"Yeah, that's true."
"We should go back."
"Damn it."
"Lyn, I'm not going to let you stay here. We're going back."
"Yeah, yeah okay."
She's always a step ahead of me. How does she know my every move? It's April, isn't it? She probably is telling them my every move. There's no other way around, she's the only one that stays with me 24/7. It's almost dark. I don't have any other choice. To save my family, I need to go back. I'll go back and put an end to that bitch, she crossed the line. It's about time I put an end to this mess.
"Do you want me to drive? Are you tired?" She asked.
"No, it's fine. I can drive." I replied.
"Okay."
I followed the route that was illustrated by the navigation. The sun was setting on the mountain, it was a breath-taking view that I'll never forget. The silhouettes of the crows were flying over the sunset. Sunrises and sunsets provide me with hope and peace. The sun rises above everything which is how a person should be dealing with situations, and the sunsets are an alluring ending to an unforgettable chapter. I wanted to do something before it was dark, so I stopped at the side of the road and I opened the door. I opened the door for her so she can join me.
"What are you doing? Why did you stop here?" She asked.
"There's a conflict that needs to be resolved," I replied with a cold facial expression.
"What are you talking about? We need to get to Trinel."
"Get out of the car."
"Why would I get out of the car?"
"Don't force me into using an alternative harsh way. Get out of the car, April."
"Alright, alright."
She descended, and so did her confused face. It was confrontation time, I need to reveal this mystery person that keeps on following me.
"Who are you?" I asked.
"What the hell Lyn?" She replied with frustration.
"Answer my question."
"I'm April."
"What do you do for a living?"
"I don't work anymore if that's what you mean."
"Where did you work before?"
"Is this an investigation or what?"
"Answer my questions."
"I told you, I used to work for a company. I created the device that you experienced."
"If you don't work anymore, then what are you still doing in Trinel?"
"I'm trying to find a way out of the mess that I'm in."
"What mess?"
"The mess that the device created, I told you that they're looking for me."
"Why didn't you stay in Branklin then?"
"Honestly, this is too stupid. What is wrong with you Lyn?"
"Answer my question."
"Alright, you want to know the truth?"
"Would love to."
"My parents wanted to get rid of me so they sold me to this company, and now they control me. So, I had to run away, and you when I first met you I thought that you might be the light that could lead me somewhere, but I guess I was wrong."
"Oh,"
"Yeah."
"Who were you talking to on the phone that day?"
"I wasn't talking, I was trying to call home."
"Didn't they sell you?"
"Yeah,"
"Then, why are you calling them?"
"I miss having a family, I miss that feeling. Yes, they did sell me to get rid of me, but I still love them unconditionally. I didn't want to tell you this earlier, because I didn't want you to look at me as this poor helpless woman."
"Oh, April. I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you. I thought that you were a spy."
"What? A spy? That justifies your actions. Wow, I can't believe that after all the things that I've been through with you, you don't trust me."
"I'm so sorry, I just don't know who to trust anymore."
"I feel you, I've been in that state before."
"Dyrlisia?"
"What do you mean?"
"The state of Dyrlisia."
"What is that?"
"Dyrlisia is the state where a person is lost in their own world, apparently."
"That's deep."
"I know right."
"Yeah."
"Let's just leave. We're wasting time."
"Yeah, let's go."
We both got into the car, I left the driving seat for her. I was thinking of the different ways I could use to expose that bitch. We were now in front of the borders of Trinel. We showed them our Dislins, they moved out of the way letting us in to destroy their famous author. How did she manage to brainwash these people? How is that possible? I got to my mansion, I knocked on the door waiting for Ms Elis to welcome me in. I really missed her.
"Lyn, oh my god. You're back. I can't believe it." Said Ms Elis as she opened the door.
"Yeah, I missed you so much," I replied.
"I missed you too, I was so worried. Where have you been?"
"I was in Branklin."
"Branklin?"
"Yeah, Branklin."
"How did you get there?"
"I took my car and drove there."
"Citizens of Trinel are usually not allowed to go there, that's why I'm surprised."
"Well, I'm still a citizen of Branklin."
"But, you live here now."
"Doesn't matter."
"I'm just happy that you're back."
"Can't say the same."
"Did you visit your family?"
"Yeah, kind of."
"How are they doing?"
"They're fine."
"I'm glad to hear that."
"Yeah, it's nice."
"Some woman called in today and told me to inform you that tomorrow is your first day of work, officially. She also said that you can't be late."
"W...what? Who is she?"
"I don't know, she said that you know her very well."
"Elvira."
"What does she want now?" Asked April.
"The devices," I replied.
"Which devices?" Asked Ms Elis.
"It's a work thing, don't worry about it," I answered.
"Alright, I'll go prepare the dinner. You guys must be starving." Said Ms Elis as she left.
"Yeah, we definitely are starving," I replied.
"15 minutes, and dinner will be ready." She answered back.
"Take your time," I replied.
She went to the kitchen to prepare us dinner. It was just April and me at this point. I wanted to start my first step by visiting Dyrlisia, but she wants me to start working on those devices. What should I do now?
"What will you do about the devices?" Asked April.
"I really don't know, I can't do it," I replied nervously.
"But what about the contract that you signed? You can't just leave."
"I truly don't know what to do, I'm lost."
"Go meet her tomorrow, and from there you can think about your next move." She said those words as she was walking towards me, all of a sudden, she tripped over me, and her hand slapped my head as if she invaded my brain. Gosh, that hurts! It's like she took my brain cells with her, that's how hard she hit me.
"Woah, are you okay?" I asked.
"Yeah, yeah I'm so sorry. I just lost my balance."
"No problem."
"Actually, I'm going to do the devices."
