- Don't underestimate an Elemental! -
Taehyung's POV
"Good luck," Soros said, a smile painted across his face, worry seen within his eyes. "Thanks, dad. Don't worry, I'll be okay." He nodded, his smile widening. "I know you will, I just hope we can say the same for your friends."
I gulped, a feeling of worry wash over my body. "We can't think like that, Soros. They'll be okay," I reassured, turning back to see Jungkook waiting for me, the fire already ignited around his palms. I looked back at Soros, flashing a huge grin. "I'll make you proud! Just like I plan to make Drift and Glacius proud too."
He nodded, arms crossing over his chest. "Now go, son." I was walking back towards my partner, my heart beating rapidly in my chest. "Taehyung! Ready?" Jungkook asked when I reached him, a light flame circling around his body calmly.
"As ready as I'll ever be." The gods come over, glancing down at their Elementals and saying a few motivating words. "Last but not least, I'll explain a little bit about how this training will proceed," Illume spoke, his eyes as white as ever.
"You'll be spawning into the arena at different locations, nowhere near one another. Your job, as always, is to stay alive. Whether you find a teammate and work together, or you manage on your own. You'll be fighting off the evil, protecting the good, and looking for your teammates." I nodded in understanding, looking at Jungkook.
"How much time do we have?" Namjoon questioned, arms crossed over his chest. "An hour." My eyebrows shot up, as did the other Elementals'. Gasps were heard around the circle the gods made, my eyes scanning over the gods to find Soros. An hour?
"This training isn't like the one you've had before, it's much harder. Be careful out there, Elementals." Jungkook grabbed my hand, his palm a little sweaty. I looked him in the eye, worry sparkling through them. "We wouldn't throw you into this training if we knew you couldn't handle it, just remember that."
"You have two minutes before the simulation begins. Discuss a strategy or simply prepare, but be ready in two minutes." The gods wished us luck then walked away, heading in the direction of where Soros was leaning against the wall. I met Jungkook's eyes again, his eyes were big and scared.
"Hey, cupcake, listen. You heard Illume, he knows we can do this. I know we can do this," I whispered, seeing him nod. I pulled him into me, sighing as I inhaled his scent. "I said I'd protect you, and I will. I'll find you, I promise. You're strong, you can stay alive."
"What if I can't?" He whispered softly, hugging me tightly.
"You can. It isn't even an option. You'll survive. I believe in you and you believe in yourself," I spoke, feeling him nod. I pulled Jungkook towards the rest of our teammates, getting into the huddle with them as we discussed the plan.
Long story short, we find one another and work together as teams until we can group up somehow. We fight hard but don't purposely solo. We don't exactly know what we're up against, after all. We joined in hands, standing in a circle, waiting as the time counted down.
"Coming together is a beginning," I spoke, catching the attention of my teammates as the time counted down from five. "Keeping together is progress," I said, smiling as I met each of their eyes for a split second. "Working together is success."
They nodded, flashing smiles as the room began to disappear. I glanced at Jungkook one last time before I'd see him in the arena, his eyes focused on me. "I'll see you soon," I whispered, feeling his hand slowly begin to disappear. I closed my eyes, taking deep breaths to keep myself calm.
Then I reopened them, light shining down on me. I squinted, trying to make out the surroundings. A city. I looked around the ruins of where a city once stood encasing the entire arena. I couldn't even see the boundary, meaning that the arena was just that big.
"Welcome, Elementals." A voice above us said, my mind trying to wrap around whose it was. "Your training begins now. You have exactly one hour. Best of luck." Then, it was gone, a clock displayed in the air above all the builds. Sixty minutes.
I glanced around the city deadly silent. Something's not right. This city shouldn't be this quiet, not when we're in training. I held my ground, scanning over the buildings, a forest lying beyond some of the buildings. Have far back did the forest go before the border hit?
A loud boom made me jump, screams heard alongside it. They sounded feminine though, I highly doubt that was any Elemental. I gulped, looking back in the direction of where I heard the scream was, nothing coming into view. What was that?
Suddenly, a woman came running from around a building, her face dirty with what looked like mud, a face of utter terror. I gulped again, taking a step back. "Please! You have to help me! My children! They're stuck under a car, please! I beg of you!" I glanced around, seeing no one but her.
If this city was supposed to be utter chaos, as the gods explained, then why was she the only one here?
Something isn't right.
"Please!" I met her eyes, something flashing within them. She can't be the only one in this city asking for help, there would be more people screaming if that was the case. "Lead me to your children." She nodded frantically, rushing over to the building she turned around from.
I slowly walked behind her, seeing her turn the corner. I peeked, my eyes narrowing. Knew it. It was an alley, there's nothing besides trash there. Yet, why wasn't she there? Where did she go? I turned around, readying myself.
"Damn it, I knew something was wrong," I whispered to myself, an ice spike forming in my hand. "I don't have time for these games, I need to find my team." I glanced around once more, cursing under my breath and running away from the alley. I jogged down the street, screaming heard from behind me.
They were angry screams.
"Why you little brat!" The same woman roared, her voice sounding demonic. I glanced at her, stopping my movements, horns popping up from the top of her head. Her face turned into a skull, teeth sharp and somewhat deformed. I narrowed my eyes on the creature, several more forming behind it.
"Oh shit," I whispered, taking a step back. I didn't think twice, sprinting forward and taking a turn down the street. Right now, my priority wasn't to fight, my priority was to find Jungkook and the others. I kept quiet, sprinting down the streets, doing everything I could to lose the creatures following behind me.
This city was massive, and I wasn't sure if I'd be able to find anyone. If worst-case scenario, I'll be soloing things.
I took a sharp left turn, running down the street and making a right a few buildings down. I slid to a stop, almost screaming when I was met with a giant hole in the ground. It had to be about fifty feet deep, fire burning at the bottom of it. Oh my god.
I could have died.
I turned around, seeing the creatures following me. I was cornered, the whole blocking me from traveling to the other side of the city. I glanced around, realization kicking in. Was I in the middle of it? Was I in the middle of the fucking city?
Anger began to boil within me, my eyes turning a darker shade of blue. I looked at the creatures before me, water circling my body, steam rising off of my hands. "I'm not playing these games!" I roared, sending boiling hot water straight at them. Screams were heard, my water knocking them to the ground.
One rushed at me from the side, ice forming on my other hand. I sent a spike flying straight into its head, watching it fall to the ground with a thud. I retracted both of my hands, sprinting forward, forming another ice spike.
I sent them flying into their skulls, watching as they all fell one by one, screams beginning to die down. When it was done, I ran back the way I came, hearing something rumble from beside me. I glanced up, the building beginning to fall.
Fuck, this again?
Water shot from my palms, pushing the building back up while ice traveled on the ground and made beams to hold the building back in place. I need to find my team. I ran through the city again, taking turn after turn, finally sliding to a stop when a giant appeared before me.
"Looking for your friends?" He asked teasingly, head cocked to the side. "Too bad you won't get a chance to see them one last time. They're already dead." He laughed, my eyes narrowing. Does this guy really think I'll fall for his bullshit?
"My friends won't go down that easily, and certainly not to some weak giant like you," I stated, water forming waves around me, the giant's eyes visibly darkening. "Weak? I'll show you who is weak!" He shouted, buildings rumbling because of it.
Oh, you fucking bastard.
You're an Infinite who possesses three powers. Use them all.
My mind was racing, the giant took a step towards me.
Don't hold back! Use them!
I shook my head, extending both of my hands, water forming in one hand and ice forming in another. "So you're the legendary dual wielder? Huh? The one who uses two powers instead of one? I've heard some things about you." The giant teased, taking another step forward.
Whether he's heard about me or not, it doesn't matter. I need to get to my friends, and he isn't going to stop me.
"You're all talk! Fight me!" I roared, voice deeper than before, the giant beginning to charge at me. I slammed my foot down on the ground, a thick layer of ice covering the entire surface of the pavement, heading right for the giant. Ice also traveled upwards, encasing all the buildings around us, keeping them from falling.
The whole area around us turned to ice, a smirk placing itself on my face. I glanced up, water circling around me. "We're on my playing field now." My right foot and arm turned to ice, my left hand circled with water. The giant charged again, stepping down on my ice, failing to shatter it.
I sprinted forward, delivering a hard punch to his leg, hearing him scream out. I backed up, water forming in both my hands, and sent forward at a very rapid speed. "Don't underestimate water. It can cut through anything if given enough force."
"And certainly don't underestimate ice!" I roared, my palm facing the air, a dragon made of ice forming. Water fell from its mouth, the dragon coming to life. "Impossible!" The giant shouted, looking at me. He shook his head, charging at me, a dagger forming in his hand.
He sent it flying right at me, a smile on my face as I closed my eyes. The impact of the dagger never hit, my eyes reopening to be met with darkness shielding me. I snickered, sending my dragon forward, watching it attack the giant.
"And most importantly," I said, rushing at the giant, darkness riding up my arms and legs, my right hand still ice and my left hand still circling with water. I charged straight at the giant, wings of darkness forming on my back, allowing me to jump up and fly upwards.
"Don't ever, and I mean ever," I spoke, pausing again as I let my magic double, anger bubbling up inside me. Concentrate on your emotions, then release them.
And so I did, all three magics of mine flying straight at the giant.
"Don't ever underestimate an Elemental!"
