Taehyung's POV
Two months later
So, the creatures are getting more powerful each day. We're growing stronger as we fight them, but it seems as though they're finally matching our strength. The thought alone terrifies me. What happens next?
How powerful will they get?
"V!" I hear Yoongi shout, my mind barely registering the attack as something flies directly at me. I manage to dodge, darkness magic swirling around my calves as the wind turns warmer. "Snap the fuck out of it!" Jin shouts from afar, roots growing from the ground up.
We're in Tokyo. We were told by Imperos that there was a massive threat headed directly for the heart of Tokyo. So, naturally, we teleported out to the city, and now we're here. Light beams from around me and a building falls to the ground.
Sadly.
"We need you focused!" Jimin shouts, extending his hand towards me. "So, focus! We need all hands on deck!" Jungkook flies past me, literally, fire shooting him across the street as lava coats his shoes. How are they not melting? He burns the street, quite literally, leaving flames, steam, and burned footsteps as proof.
I shake my head, letting my hair fall over my eyes as my water magic spills from my hands. They're right. We truly do need all hands on deck. The creatures swarm the city, climbing buildings and breaking windows in search of humans to feed on.
At least, we think they're feeding.
A scream is heard in the distance, one that makes our heads turn. We stare, spotting a creature with a woman in his grasp. "Is she one of those fakes, or is that a real girl?" Hoseok asks, lightning striking the ground beside him as he stops running, turning in the direction of the creature who tilts his head.
"Seeing as how he's fucking standing there and staring at us, it's a fake." It's from Yoongi, his arm turning invisible by the second. "I'm going in. Whatever you fuckers so, don't aim your magic at me. It's a dead giveaway of where I am." We nod, a wall of dirt forming in front of Yoongi.
We work together through everything. Namjoon presses his back into mine, hands glowing brightly. I hiss, squinting as I hear him speak. "Think you can lend me a hand?" I turn away from his light, hands clenched into fists. "Whatcha need?" A beam of blinding light shoots from his hand aimed directly in front of him.
"Freeze these motherfuckers. Hoseok's going to use his lightning to shock them alive." I hum, staring ahead at my friends who attack together. "On it. Anything else?" He nods, gripping my wrist. My eyes widen as the light reflects off my skin, a sudden rush felt within me.
Oh shit.
"Snap out of it. Whatever you're thinking of, push it aside, or say it out loud. We can't risk injury." Then, he's gone, a white imprint left on my skin from where he touched me. This can't be good. However, it's like an energy boost, a sudden jittery feeling raking through me.
I sprint forward, slamming my foot into the asphalt, watching as the light blue colored ice covers the ground and wraps around the enemies' feet. It's thick and so fucking cold, screams heard. Hoseok doesn't waste any time, lightning striking from his fingers, hitting the creatures' arms, legs, and heads.
They sizzle and shake, screaming as they're tortured with Hoseok's lightning. Yoongi returns, sliding past me as his hand hits my back. "I need your help," He mutters, dragging me along with him. "What's wrong?" He points out at the city, just past the skyscrapers. I'm barely able to make it out, but when I do, I stand frozen.
There are waves of magical power felt, my body suddenly feeling a little strained. "Are those gods?" I whisper, scared of the answer he'll give me. Yoongi shakes his head, looking at me. "Fucking looks like it, but they sure as hell aren't nice." Then he forces my gaze on him, eyes narrowed onto me.
"They're after you."
My world freezes as I glance at them again, watching as they just stand there, admiring us from afar. Are they studying us? "We need to get out of here. This means we not only need a cover, but we need a fucking attack that'll wipe them all clean." He pushes a finger into my chest, glaring a bit.
"You're the only one who fucking possesses more magic power than any of us. Can you give us an attack that'll kill them all?" I glance at my friends then back at him. "I can, but what about the cover?" He points to Namjoon, head tilting.
"We have to time it perfectly. Namjoon will use his blinding light move, or whatever he calls it, and he'll provide a cover for all of us. In the exact moment he does that, you'll open the portal back to Seoul, and let off an attack that's so strong it wipes them all." I frown, running a hand through my hair.
"You're the only one with darkness magic, Tae. You're the only one who can open the portal. You're the only one who can do this." I nod, letting my arms shake off the nervousness that suddenly evades my body. "Okay. Okay. I'll do whatever I can." He pats my shoulder, looking me in the eyes.
"I believe in you, Taehyung. So does everyone else. You can do this." Then he's off, running towards Namjoon and the others, gathering them around. I stand my ground, watching as the creatures back off for a few seconds. It's enough time, I think.
I close my eyes, concentrating on my magic, feeling it surge through me. My hair flies in the wind that's created by all the magic power around me. There are deafening screams heard from all around me, belonging to the creatures of all shapes and sizes.
Then, there's footsteps.
I hear Namjoon off in the distance, his shout heard over my heartbeat. My magic doubles, even triples, growing undeniably stronger. My hand twitches, his voice heard again. "Three!" He shouts, light already flying through the air even though my eyes are closed.
"Two!" The footsteps drown out from my ears as my heartbeat gets louder. I wait, getting ready to unleash my magic power. "One!" I prepare myself, my mind swirling, heart racing, body trembling with power. Let's do this. "Now, V!"
The portal opens, wind engulfing us as it does so. My eyes open and the light covers the entire city. I scream, louder than any creature did, levitating off the ground as a massive wave of scalding hot water engulfs the city. Darkness protects everything. Ice spikes fly off my body.
My attack is lethal and it kills everything in mere minutes. The light is blinding and it hurts my eyes, but suddenly it doesn't seem so bright. I'm able to see, with a little struggle, and move without it hurting. I can make out my friends and Namjoon, watching as they run towards the portal and jump in.
When Namjoon jumps in, the light disappears and I'm left alone. I follow behind them, jumping into the air and stealing one last glance at those god looking creatures from afar. My magic barriers disappear and so does the portal once I fall in.
We're back in Seoul, back at headquarters, and the only thing heard amongst the seven of us is our heavy breathing. All eyes are on me as my chest heaves up and down, my eyes shutting then opening, then shutting.
"You okay?" Hoseok asks, resting a hand on my shoulder. Jungkook looks at me with worried eyes, lips parted. I nod, clearing my throat as my eyes find the stairs. "Yeah," I say breathlessly, "I'm okay. Just... just tired. I need some fresh air."
And with that, I'm darting up the stairs, heading for the rooftop. It's sunset, the orange glow blinding me as I step foot onto the cement of the rooftop. My eyes find the sky, staring at the mixture of blue and orange along with the tiniest bit of pink.
I'm not even given a chance to say no, my wings sprouting, and letting my fly over the city. I just soar, not entirely sure where I'm going. In the end, I find myself in a forest, with no civilians anywhere nearby. In fact, there are no buildings anywhere.
It's just a forest.
I look around, making sure I'm alone. Then, I stare at my hands, feeling my heart racing in my chest. My hands tremble, and I'm not even sure why they do. "What's happening to me?" I whisper, staring into the dark forest ahead of me. Darkness pools at my feet, sliding over the grass, staining it black.
"Please tell me it isn't true," I whisper, silently praying that my thoughts aren't correct. I concentrate, thinking of something that'll propel the magic to do its work. My heart stops and my body tenses up tightly when I spot it, the magic making my blood run cold.
My palms are lit up, white and so fucking bright. My chest heaves as I just stare, taking in the magic power. Illume's. Namjoon's. I possess light too. "How does this keep happening? Why? I didn't fucking consent to this." But when I recall all my magic powers, I didn't consent to any but fire.
Darkness still pools at my feet and suddenly I feel this rush of fear. The light grows and my ice appears. It covers my hands, turning the flesh into ice. Water circles my legs, swirling up my calves and thighs up until my hips. Fire surrounds my torso and I'm just left there, dumbfounded.
Five. I wasn't even supposed to possess three.
Yet here I stand, with five.
My heart races even faster and the energy boost I felt about an hour ago is long gone. It's this sudden feeling of vulnerability, one I haven't felt since the days of university life. My breathing is uneven and my hands shake terribly. Sweat coats my forehead and my hands, turning my palms all gross.
"Stop," I mumbled weakly, legs shaking, trembling, unable to keep me up. The darkness spreads over the grassy area around me, covering it, killing it. Keep calm. Keep calm. This is all inside your head, Taehyung. Don't let it get to you.
But it does.
It evades my body like a virus, striking at the hope and killing off the motivation. All I feel is power, so much of it that it makes my head spin and tears pool at my eyes. The darkness spreads farther, and farther, and farther. "Stop..."
Make it stop.
I fall to my knees, a sharp pain hitting my head. It's too much. My heart doesn't stop racing and I won't stop shaking. Power.
It grows. The power just keeps growing.
Your magic responds to your emotions.
The fear. Anxiety. Worry. Make it stop.
The magic continues to just grow stronger, overpowering me, engulfing me like a wave would in the ocean. I'm drowning, but I'm on land. I'm drowning in my own anxiety, unable to breathe. My chest hurts, my head spins, my heart races.
Make it stop!
"Stop it!" I scream, clutching the back of my head, tears spilling from my eyes. I fist the strands of hair, screaming aloud. No one can help me. No one can hear me.
I'm alone.
I open my eyes, feeling every bit of scared, weak, and vulnerable. My ice magic forms a circle around me, jagged and sharp spikes peaking from the ground. There's no light. It's just darkness. Illume's magic, Namjoon's magic is drowned out by the darkness.
I can't stop it even if I tried.
The darkness coats the entire forest, the harsh truth becoming a reality. It's too much. I stare, crying, sobbing as I realize what's happened.
I've gained too much magic in too little time... It's too much for me to control.
I possess five magic elements when I was never supposed to have three.
It's too much...
The darkness. It taunts me, laughing, mocking me. I fall against the grass, arms barely able to hold me up as I'm left staring ahead at the forest around me. I'm in shock, unable to do anything but stare.
My magic power is too strong... It's too much. It's deadly. It's lethal.
It... It killed the forest.
