Chapter 43
Peering out, Ozone looked around at the buildings surrounding the moving van. He huffed when he realized where they were. "I got some bad news and I got some good news. What do you want to hear first?" he asked. "Bad news..." Tiberius mumbled nervously, leaning against the wall of the van.
"We're still on Staten Island," Ozone informed.
"Great, what's the good news?"
"We're no longer on Mason's turf. It's smooth sailing from here."
"Are you sure Ozone?"
"Yes."
"How sure?"
"I'm positive."
"Only fools are positive."
"Are you sure about that pigeon?"
"Ozone, I'm a hawk and I'm positive on this- rats."
"Got you."
"Shut up."
Ozone was about to add something else when his eyes landed on Tiberius's wounded shoulder. The fabric that was used to hold back the blood flow wasn't doing its job anymore. Blood slowly trickled down from the injury hidden under the useless bondages. The old hawk also looked like he was going to pass out. "Think you'll be alright walking?" Ozone asked quietly. Tiberius shook his head silently, trembling slightly.
Sighing, Ozone sat down and tried to come up with a plan. Looking outside again, he realized what part of Staten Island they were in. "Come on, I know a friend around these parts. He's not far from here and he'll help you," he spoke softly. Getting back to his feet, Ozone let Tiberius lean against him as they got out of the van and walked down the street.
