Groaning in his sleep, Ozone yawned. Opening his eyes, the hairless cat shook himself and got to his paws. Stretching his limbs, he gazed up at the sun. He assumed that it was now late afternoon. Licking his paw and drawing it over his ear, he began washing his face when he heard a whimper. Confused, Ozone looked around only to hear it again. He silently looked down.

Whimpers growing louder, Tiberius was twitching in his sleep. His breathing was also picking up pace like he was afraid or in pain. Quickly, Ozone gently took the hawk by the uninjured shoulder and shook him. "Dude, wake up! Snap out of it!" he hissed quietly. When that didn't work, the hairless cat stepped on the hawk's tail. That did the trick as Tiberius woke up with a screech. Eyes searching the area frantically, they landed on Ozone. Next thing that Ozone knew, he was trying to save his skin as the old hawk lunged for his throat.

"What is wrong with you?! I know you hate me but this is ridiculous!" Ozone cried, jumping out of the way. Spinning around, he prepared himself for another attack. However, the fight seemed to have left Tiberius as he stood panting, his eyes wide with fright. Bewildered, the hairless feline cautiously approached the old hawk. Finding his tongue, he asked, "Care to explain what in the world that was?"

"It's just a dream," Tiberius mumbled, not daring to look at Ozone. Not convinced, the feline raised an eyebrow as he remarked, "Sure. Just a dream. You looked like you were gonna kill me." Sighing, the old hawk silently glanced over at the cat before mumbling something to quiet for Ozone to hear.

"What was that?" Ozone questioned.

Closing his eyes briefly, Tiberius repeated a little louder this time, "I get nightmares about my past, alright?! Happy?!" The old hawk looked away as he continued, "There's a cat in them that... looks like you..."

Surprised, Ozone asked quietly, "Knew him in real life?"

"Only for a little."

"Had a quarrel?"

"Yeah..."

"About what?"

"I honestly don't know why. I didn't do anything to this cat but he..."

"What? He what?" Ozone asked, sitting down. He prayed he hadn't crossed the line too far. He was just curious. Shaking a little, Tiberius answered softly, "He... he killed my sister." Speechless, Ozone stared at the old hawk. Tail wrapping around his paws, he murmured, "I didn't know you had a sister."

"We never met this cat, never did anything to harm him. But he just... he attacked us one night and..." Tiberius's voice faded as his eyes teared up. Getting to his paws, Ozone rested his tail across the hawk's shoulders reassuringly. He put two and two together in his head as he concluded, "That's why you hate me. I remind you of that cat." Tiberius nodded his head quietly.

Biting his lip nervously, Ozone suddenly embraced Tiberius. The old hawk, startled, looked down at the cat. Pulling away, the hairless cat mumbled, "Sorry, it looked like you need one." But then it was Ozone's turn to be surprised as Tiberius replied, "Thank you."

"Did you just thank me?!"

"Shut up."

"I'm pretty sure you did."

"Maybe I did, maybe I didn't. Last I checked, you hugged me."

"Didn't."

"Did."

"Whatever."

"You did."

"Drop the subject already, please?"
