Chapter 63
Panting heavily, Ozone mumbled, "Thank you. I thought I was a goner for sure." Stepping around the body of the cat he had just killed, Tiberius commented, "I honestly thought you were dead." Quietly, the old hawk helped the hairless cat up on his feet.
Legs shaking, Ozone could feel blood seeping out of the many scratches and cuts he had, specifically on his shoulders and spine. But the thing that hurt the most was the back of his head. It felt like someone had taken a sledgehammer to his skull. Glancing over at Tiberius, Ozone could see that he had suffered from a swollen left eye and a massive cut on his right leg. Unfortunately, it was evident that his wounds from earlier had reopened.
"I believe I speak for both of us when I say that we need to get home now," Tiberius rasped, trying to catch his breath. Body hurting all over, Ozone nodded his head slowly so he couldn't damage his skull more, adding, "For once, I think I might agree with you."
"Other than Mason is psychopath?"
"Okay, there's that."
"And you have very sick habits-"
"Please don't remind me," Ozone interrupted, his tail lashing for emphasis. Gazing up, he mumbled, "We need to see where we are cuz I honestly don't know lower Manhattan that well and we might be lost." Looking over at Tiberius, he went on, "We need a higher vantage point."
