Breathing hard from fear, Ozone uncovered his head to find himself behind a corner, hidden from Mason's sight. He was surprised that he hadn't gotten shot. Frightened, he glanced over at Tiberius, afraid that the old hawk had been shot for a fourth time. Luckily, he appeared to be fine. However, he was staring at something behind the two of them with shock on his face. Ozone quietly followed his gaze. What he saw left him speechless.

Though Mason had pretty bad aim for the most part, he had managed to hit something. The ginger cat had actually done both Ozone and Tiberius a favor. The speeding bullet had struck the foot long chain connecting the two animals, breaking it in half. Looking down at his left hindpaw, Ozone smiled faintly, feeling a little happy. "Guess we're finally free... somewhat," he commented, glancing over at Tiberius. Holding up his right foot while trying not to hurt his leg, the old hawk replied back, "I'll take it as free."

A gunshot quickly reminded the pair that their troubles weren't close to being finished yet. Jumping to his paws, Ozone whispered, "Split up, now!" Without another word, he dashed off one way while Tiberius went the other. Peering over his shoulder to make sure the hawk was alright, Ozone turned to face forward just as another gunshot rang out.

The next thing he knew, Ozone was collapsing on the ground, clutching his stomach...
