Fortunately for the two animals, they managed to crash land on the rooftop of the Empire State Building. Unfortunately for them, Mason was closing in. Struggling to his paws, Ozone limped over Tiberius. "Dude, you gotta get back up now. Mason's coming," he spoke urgently, his gaze flickering between the old hawk and the ginger cat wearing a jetpack.

However, Tiberius rasped, "Ozone, I can't fly." Confused, Ozone cried, "What do you mean you can't..." His voice faded away when the hairless cat saw the condition of the hawk's left wing. The limb was bent in an odd angle, suggesting a bone or two had been broken. The bullet had done its work. Shaking his head sadly, Ozone whispered sorrowfully, "I'm so sorry."

"Aww, ain't this a shame?" Mason's voice sounded behind Ozone's back. Growling, the hairless cat turned around to find his nemesis on the roof with them. Pistol pointed right at them, Mason smiled menacingly as he asked with a snarl, "Now then, who should I kill first?" His eyes flashed as the ginger feline had a lightbulb moment. Moving the gun so it was aiming at Tiberius, he purred, "Why not start with your friend here Ozone? Maybe you'll feel some sympathy for him right before I kill you!"

"Not today!" Ozone shouted. Quickly, he shoved Tiberius out of the way, sending the both of them rolling behind a corner just as Mason fired his weapon. The bullet, flying straight and true, hit its target.

However, it wasn't the one Mason was hoping for...
