Hello, my lovelies!
So, yes it's been a year, I know. And I do apologise, but life can be busy, creativity can freeze, and procrastination is a bi-
With that said, this is the last chapter. It is also the longest chapter in the book. I thought I'd make it up to you with it. Prepare some snacks and some tea, maybe a London Fog or a plain black, just the way our Devotedrry likes it.
There are some tears of sadness and tears of joy in this. But before you get really teary, there is an epilogue...so we're not officially done (just sort of).
Please don't forget to vote and comment, because I love reading the little things you have to say.
So, without further ado, I hope you enjoy this one, my darling rosy tulips 🌷

Serenity.
There are certain things in life that you can't live without — inanimate objects, people, emotions, or something that lives within us. The fascinating fact is that none are the same for each individual. We're all different, and we all see things in a unique manner. It's about perspective and perception—and, most importantly, passion.
It was an identical thought that I had many, many months ago.
At that time, though, I thought that I had everything.
I had my loving family, my best friends, my sweetest cat, the delicious smoothies I made every morning, and the passion I have for dance — that never once faded.
However, there was all but one, and that was nearly losing the one thing that meant so much to me: Starlight Studio.
I was on the brink of letting it go, telling my little starlight butterflies that they had to find another place to dance, and crushing my childhood dream.
Everyone still believed I could keep it open except for myself. It was not until that fateful afternoon when I spent time with Amara and drank a London Fog at the Quaint Café that I finally found a spark of faith within me.
We talked about random things, our zodiacs and horoscopes, my distaste for coffee, which, somehow, eventually leading up to my special place. Mars told me that she'd hurt me if I ever dared to close my studio, and informed me of a particular company that invests in small businesses; and suddenly, confidence was restored in my veins.
And if all else failed, I could end up being a Mountie.
She used her favourite nickname for me — note the sarcasm, because what kind of name goes for 'twinkle toes?' — and urged me to move forward towards my success.
From research to investors to secretaries, from hassles to exhaustion, to finally getting what I wanted: the lead investor who helped me soar.
Little did I know that that same person would be the man I would fall hopelessly in love with.
The saying 'kill two birds with one stone' indirectly came true.
Things changed, not for the worst, but for the better.
I never thought that something like this would ever happen to me; meeting a multi-billion dollar CEO, have the deepest feelings that were enough to be engaged to him. I never even thought about how I would meet the person I fell in love with, but it only happened in the least expected place possible.
Phone calls upon phone calls, being hung up on, making appointments and getting rejected. There was nearly finding that last string of hope, only to be cut before the end. I didn't know what got in me when I managed to sneak into the CEO's office that one fateful day, but it happened.
Determination, not desperation.
Or so that's what I kept telling myself.
Although, it technically was both.
Things went well after that. Maintaining what our minds wanted was friendship, even if our hearts were tugging at one another.
Constant meetings at Urban Corp. — and many arguments along with them.
The coincidental Quaint Café meetup — and Harry thinking Milo was my boyfriend. Silly man.
Pain-calling him and receiving a 'period care' package — with a purple hot water bottle.
Late night talking on his trip to London, hearing the first "tell me something" — and giving Harry his first hug when he returned.
Taking care of him when he got food poisoning — all while he had a new-found obsession with my chicken noodle soup and watching his first Disney movie.
River dropping me mid-dance, along with Harry's shocking action of care towards me — and listening to the words "I'd never drop you" come out of his mouth.
Going to the carnival together, wearing the mesmerising colour of jean blue — and falling in love with Harry.
But then, things went south, and our hearts broke when he pushed me away for two dreadful weeks.
And there was Harry kissing me for the first time — and again, again, again.
Him asking me to be his Essie, loving how my nickname smoothly rolled off his tongue — and becoming attached to it (just as much as I knew he loved when I called him Tiger).
Loving the comfort of his presence, whether cuddling in bed or on the couch, drinking his beloved chicken noodle soup with some warm drinks, or watching a Disney movie — and him complaining whenever I told him to drink chamomile tea.
The "tell me somethings" that I'd grown to adore, sharing stories and secrets about ourselves — and learning that Harry didn't believe that he was 'normal,' with sharing kisses, assuring him that he was very much that way.
But with those many secrets came learning about his ex and knowing how she mentally destroyed him — and me secretly wanting to claw her eyes out for shattering him.
Meeting my family for the first time at Charlie's hockey game and having to teach Harry how the game works — oh, and forcing Harry to wear an Oilers foam finger in bright orange. His emotions of anxiety and panic were on high alert at the start, but he eased into a relaxed state as time went on; the feeling of knowing he would be okay in the future was something that I couldn't forget.
I also couldn't forget how we spent the night at his condo and taught him how to cook breakfast — even though we ended up burning it because we were so caught up with one another.
Afterwards, he opened his heart even further by showing me his flower garden, one of Harry's most prized possessions and a hidden secret.
Making him a flower crown — and he wore it.
Only for me to find out in the future that that was the time Harry fell in love with me.
I told myself many times that I could relive that moment and the carnival over and over again, but then I always reminded myself that I didn't need that. Harry was beside me constantly, tending to my every need, spending time — creating it if we didn't have enough — and making new memories together as each second passed.
Finally managing to schedule a date, Harry in an olive-grey suit, spending it in an expensive restaurant for dinner — and having met his ex, to which I gave her a piece of my mind.
Of course, that led to an unforgettable night between us — and then many more after that.
Starlight's re-opening, my second soul coming to life, and having my favourite man to support me — and an obnoxious reporter that came to insinuate that I got my investment because of my relationship with Harry, to which he told him off not-so-kindly.
Hearing the word "kissy" for the first time — and walking along the Seawall and asking a lady to take a picture of us.
The aftermath that followed was Harry wearing a camel-toned suit, with his specs, showing off his utmost confidence — and calling him sexy, even after he woke me up on an early practically-winter morning.
Never could I forget our trip to Banff, teaching him how to snowboard, drinking hot cocoa, riding horses on trails — and singing along to the Backstreet Boys in carpool karaoke.
Smiles, laughs, dancing the sensual tango after a romantic dinner, and spending a beautifully intimate night together — to which he asked me to dominate him.
And then hell broke down on us.
Lies uncovered, hearts were left broken, spending weeks apart — and nearly losing it, while Harry nearly lost his position.
But reliving that wasn't something I ever planned on doing, even if it was in my mind.
An angry, passionate love confession in the middle of Starlight — and swearing every few words, bringing up our first time, and children watching the encounter.
Following him, pretending to leave the same way he did, just to let him feel his heart drop, even if for a split second — and kissing him.
Spending Harry's birthday together, gifting things in tulip-print wrapping paper and a cello — and learning that he'd never received any presents before.
His biological mother showing up, having a half-sister, learning Mateo is his step-father and ex-mentor — and hating his father even more.
Spending our first Christmas together with my family, wearing matching hats and pyjamas — and Harry playing a composition for me on his cello, one that made my heart fill with love and eyes cry with tears of joy.
The day to follow with his new-found family, discovering the truth about his childhood, finding the beginning of the string of trust — and eating a Spanish almond cake that his mother made.
Flying to London, facing Harry's other partial family, calling out his father for the mental havoc that he brought down to the man I loved — and joining the mile-high club on our flight back.
Weeks later, we found ourselves happy, between loving families, celebrating a birthday never to forget — and engaged not long after.
And that brought us to where we are today.
My eyes constantly glazed over the ring on my left finger, the stone glimmering under the light. Legs crossed, I settled my hand on my knee and wiggled my digits to see the shining reflection against the band. A smile overtook my lips as I took in the sight, remembering the night Harry proposed.
A magical night it was.
I tapped the tips against the soft crimson material of my jumpsuit that perfectly hugged my body. My brunette was styled into smooth waves, soft, smokey eyes, and a bold red lip. No other accessories adorned my skin except for some drop earrings held, the dainty necklace I got for Christmas, and my favourite ring.
Harry had a business dinner, and for the first time, he asked me to come.
Well, it wasn't the first time he asked me, but it was the first time I agreed. I wanted to see what the — lack of — hype was about. Also, a part of me wanted to see how Harry was in smaller settings when making business deals.
I'd never attended any of his meetings or conferences before, and for good reason. What would I be doing there anyway? I'd sit around and watch many people talk about how to make something successful with money, or at least, that's what I pictured in my mind. I did witness his many business phone calls, but they were always short and to the point — or Harry yelling at someone because they couldn't do their job right.
"I should fire him." He'd used this phrase much less in the past several months, and I take it that his employees were thankful for me in their lives because of that.
It wasn't that they weren't doing their job right, because they were, but Harry was a tad less nit-picky on things that it was normal for anyone to miss. He was attentive to detail, and in many circumstances, he was right. There were certain things he had to be strict on.
I always knew Harry was an amazing executive boss, knew all of his clients and employees' names, was kind to them — on most occasions. If he truly wasn't worthy of the position, I'm sure they wouldn't wait to get fired, but would quit voluntarily.
Not many top companies ran the same way. Except for Grant Enterprises and Pemberton Inc., I'd say the main reason was that Felix and Oliver were Harry's friends, or at least, the closest thing to that.
The three of them would get together whenever Oliver was in town for a drink or invite them to his condo for a relaxing sit-down on his balcony with the scenic view. Sometimes, Felix came over for a dinner with Belinda, it was always nice to see her again. It took a lot of effort, but he started to open up a bit about his personal life to them, but only smidges of his current life. However, none of them knew about his history or the backstory of Harry Styles — carrying on with that last name.
It was understandable.
Harry had become much more open over the past few months, and I'd say that Valentina and Estela played a major role in that. They'd officially joined his life, and he would talk to them about anything and everything. Seeing that my fiancé finally had his own family was incredibly heartwarming. No matter how often he'd called my family his, I knew those two gave him what he had never had for over two decades.
I was happy for him.
As for Mateo, Harry recently started building a bridge together, but I knew it would never be fully repaired. What his ex-mentor did really stung and resonated within him. Some sort of relationship would have to maintain, he was his step-father after all. I could see that he was content with that.
He wasn't invited for big family dinners, nor would they go out for coffee one-on-one initially. It was only a month prior that he'd said, "If what's-his-name wants to come, whatever, sure. That's fine."
Valentina had come over to visit us on a Wednesday night at the condo. We each had a glass of red and talked about the gazebo my family rented out for that upcoming weekend. Harry invited her, but it was what he said after was what surprised all of us. I saw her lips parted in shock, though she tried to brush it off with a single nod and her grin, to which she failed to hide.
I didn't mention it to Harry, but I was proud. I think both of us didn't like Mateo deep down inside, but being cordial was a step in the right direction. And I also believed that that man knew better than to hurt him in any way again.
The picnic was nice, though. My mom and Milo were in charge of the grill, while Dad had baked some treats — with a pan of blueberry muffins, specifically for Harry. River and Charlie brought some games, and Mars and Destiny brought a frisbee and a volleyball.
When Valentina called my mom to see if they should bring anything to the park, she told her nothing and to bring themselves. She didn't have that, so she brought her famous Spanish cake and some fruit instead.
Harry and I didn't bring anything. We just showed up.
His relationship with River had also improved. He still didn't like him, especially when he remembered where his hands had been placed on me. I always teased him about it, but I didn't mention that reason to my friend. He just assumed it was jealousy and left it at that. Regardless, it was still amusing.
We had a ton of fun that day, eating BBQ, running under the summer sun, and playing games to our heart's content — except for Charlie, who got bit by a spider for walking around barefoot. It was his fault, and he knew it.
The only person who was really quiet was Mateo because he was still walking on eggshells with Harry. My parents did chat with him, though, he was still reserved; but that was expected.
The night ended with roasting marshmallows around a nearby pit and playing a few rounds of various card games. We took pictures and made many videos to help capture our fun times. It was a memorable time spent.
My gaze went to the photo frame on the dresser from that day, and a smile grew on my lips.
But then my mind went back to something Harry wanted me to order from online: seeds for baby blue eyes — or Nemophila menziesii, the scientific name he'd mentioned. He said that they reminded him of a light version of my eyes, and wanted to put them in his garden. Apparently, they were nearly sold out and he wanted to get his hands on them. He was in a planting mood these past few days, and had his eye a website that he used to do all his purchases on.
Grabbing my phone from the bedside table, I opened the site and added a packet to the cart.
"H, where's your card?" I said.
"Baby, it's in my wallet. Pick the black one. The blue is the company card," Harry called out from inside the closet.
Walking to the dresser, I picked up his wallet and swiped the black card from its pocket. As the inside was open, a piece of paper peeked through the top, and I slowly pulled it out. A few creases were along it, wear and tear on it, seeming that he'd opened and closed it multiple times. I gasped as I saw the highly familiar handwriting.
Tiger,
Just a little something to brighten up your day.
Serenity Hayes (aka Essie)
Owner of Starlight Studio
P.S. I had to sign my note like you do with your fancy CEO position. Needed to make myself feel special somehow.
It was the note I wrote for him when I delivered the tulips the day he returned from London. I had Iris put the vase on his desk earlier that morning, remembering how she looked at me with a knowing grin. I just shooed her away, telling her to stick to her job with a shy smile.
I vividly remember how he post-scripted an e-mail instead of calling or texting me as a thank you. It was very CEO Harry Styles of him, and I couldn't help but giggle quietly.
P.P.S. Thank you for the tulips. They're beautiful. x
It was the first time he sent me a kiss, though not exactly a physical one, but enough to cause a spark in my heart and my eyes to glimmer in their dazzling sapphire hue.
There was just something about how Harry would act that sent an unbelievably devastating warmth in my body that made my insides tingle and fingers shake from excitement. The sensation bubbled in my tummy, butterflies swarming inside, trying to find an escape, though there was none. They were trapped, fluttering around in a cocoon of love and protection.
"Did you find it, baby?" Harry's voice was clear as he emerged from the closet.
Our eyes met and he blushed at the realisation of what was in my hands.
"You kept it?"
"Yeah," he replied bashfully, scratching his neck. I couldn't toss it. I put it straight in my wallet. I said to myself that I was going to keep it forever."
I grinned. "You're such a sap."
Harry groaned. "I didn't think you'd ever find it."
"Sap!" I exclaimed, a smirk on my lips.
"Don't make me regret letting you open my wallet."
"Oh, don't be like that." I grinned. "Besides, I just know that you'll put our wedding picture in there, and then when we have kids, that'll join them too."
"Give me that," Harry huffed, his brows furrowing as he tugged his wallet and note away from my hands. He stuffed the paper where it belonged and slid the leather into his back pocket.
"You know it's okay, right? I'm just teasing you." I pouted, watching as he walked back away from me to stand in front of the mirror above the dresser. He was sans glasses today, opting out for contacts, just as I'd done.
It was then that I noticed he was wearing all black — a shade that he seldomly wore, but when he did, I was completely taken by it. My favourite monochromatic man.
Harry turned to look at me after slipping on his suit jacket, linen fabric, and slight material change with velvet labels. He adjusted the collar of his shirt, looking at me with a raised brow.
"You're a brat, is what," he spoke simply, then went back to fixing his appearance.
His fingers trailed along the cuffs of his shirt, tugging them lightly into place. They then smoothed through his hair, so soft and delicate as he rowed through the strands as though on calm waves on a summer's day.
"Pretty hair," I commented, and sage gems flitted towards me in the mirror, filled with the warmth I've always adored.
A precious dimple slowly deepened into his cheeks as he looked at me, lips pulling upwards and a charming, soft expression.
"I remember when you told me that the first time," he said. "It was the same day you got me tea."
I huffed, pointing a finger at him. "Hey, now, don't diss the tea. Plus, it was a London Fog. You're English, I thought it was fitting."
"I said nothing, sweetheart." Harry grinned, sucking in his lips before speaking again. "You were late that day. Business serious and everything, but she comes to her appointment late with a new investor. I could've changed my mind right then and there."
"I went to get us drinks, and the elevator was full!" I contradicted.
"And that's why you're supposed to leave the house earlier," he tutted, keeping his eyes on me as he picked up the blood-red tie resting on the dresser. He wrapped it around his neck and expertly tied it into an Eldredge knot. "It's not very professional, darling."
"You were so firm with me. Giving me those two 'follow me' fingers without saying anything else. I felt like I was being sent to the principal's office all over again." A deep breath escaped my lips.
"Ah, so you were that kind of student. Late and always in the principal's office, weren't you, my naughty girl," Harry smirked. "Besides, I thought you liked my fingers."
"Harry!" I gasped, and he laughed.
"Come on, I was just joking..." he spoke, tucking in a pocket square into his front pocket, then grinned. "...sort of."
"I was a good student. I had some bullies, though. Got me in trouble when I tried to fight back."
"Pricks. I'd love to see them try to bully you now," he huffed.
"Easy, Tiger. Down, boy."
Harry smirked. "You know how much I like to go down—"
"Stop!" I exclaimed once more, covering my face with my hands. The man simply chuckled, pulling my arms away so that he could see me. His smug expression was written all over him, proud of his wordy antics.
And he called me naughty — the audacity.
"You know, I liked it better when you were shy and reserved."
"The day you told me you liked someone else taking charge and that I was in control of my actions..." he paused. "...everything changed."
I smiled. "I wouldn't change the way you changed for the world."
Harry turned to walk towards me, settling his hands on my hips. "You know, it brought me to who I truly am. I have you to thank for that, Es. I swear, the way I felt that day I wore my glasses to work and a coloured suit, it was so fucking indescribable. I felt free."
"I was so proud of you. Still am. Every day." I smiled. "Even when you wear all black."
He looked down between us, then flickered his eyes back to mine, pulling his lips into a smirk. "Yeah?"
"Yeah. It still shows your confidence. It's sexy."
I saw the way he dragged his tongue across his teeth, poking the inside of his cheek.
"Don't tell me that often. It's quite rare, actually. I'd like to hear it a bit more often," he said, and I scoffed.
"It's because I don't want it to get to your head. You have a big enough ego as it is."
"I thought you liked my big—"
"—Harry, stop!"
It was clear he was in a mood, and anyone could tell; but he just laughed it off, grinning.
"You look stunning, by the way," he noted, and I blushed.
"Thank you. Wore this just for you."
"I picked it out for you, baby love. I put it on the side, knowing it'd catch your eye. You haven't worn it in a while, and I was dying to see it on you again," he said. But I might get you to change. I only want you to show off your body like this to me."
"Not happening."
"Of course, darling. Just speaking my thoughts. You can wear whatever you want."
"Right, that's why you secretly picked this out for me," I pointed out.
"Secretly, Es. Secretly. It's why I didn't tell you. I just hinted at it."
"Mhm, sure," I hummed.
"Kissy?"
I nodded. "Kissy."
We leaned in until our lips fit together like puzzle pieces, forming a perfect mold. His hands squeezed my hips before wrapping them around my waist. I rested my palms on his lapels, fisting them slightly, then pressed them against his chest to push him away softly.
Dazed and confused, he blinked a couple of times to refocus himself. "Why'd you pull away, darling? Are you not going to give me any more kissy's?"
My mouth twisted into a slight smirk.
"No more—"
He pouted. "Why?"
"Because I'm saving them for later."
And that's when his brows shot up, excited and happy, like a puppy waiting for his favourite treat.
I mean, he wasn't exactly wrong. It was a treat for both of us.
"In that case, I'm okay with that," he said, pressing a soft kiss against my cheek before walking back to the dresser to spray some cologne.
Finding my heels, I sat on the bed to slip them on. "We've been together a year now, so why am I just going with you on a dinner meeting?"
Harry chuckled. "Darling, you're the one that said no, but it's better that you did, though. Always bored out of my fucking mind. I'm glad that you said yes this time. Besides, I thought it would be fun to take my fiancée with me."
"Oh, so you're just using me so you won't fall asleep mid-meeting. Isn't that right?"
"Not exactly."
"Then tell me, what is it exactly?" I smiled, drawing my tongue on the inside of my cheek.
"Maybe I just want to show my girl off. Show the world how lucky I am. Tell them that behind every successful king is a beautiful and powerful queen."
"You're buttering me up, aren't you?"
"Is it working?"
"Absolutely."
"See, my success is from you."
"You're so cheesy."
"Alright, alright. Let's get going, we're going to be late."
"Right, because I'm the one that needs to be reminded about that," I spoke with a huff.
"Yes, darling, you are," Harry said smugly.
"Oh, hush, you," I replied, and he laughed.
"C'mon, love."
And with a tug on my hand, we were off to a business dinner.
♬ ✥*
I forgot to buy the seeds.
Harry was very distracting in the car, and I only remembered when he parked in front of the restaurant. Every stop at a red light, soft kisses made their mark on my palm, an occasional press of his lips smoothed against my cheek, while saying the sweetest things.
Because of that, I made him late for the business dinner. He tried his best to blame it on how I looked stunning and couldn't find anything else to focus on, but I reminded him of how much he also wanted those baby blue eyes.
He sighed before pulling out his wallet and slid the black card out for me. I smiled as I took it, watching how childish he looked since something other than him was taken between my fingers.
Finishing the transaction was quick and easy, and he said something like, "Those fingers are made for me."
It wasn't long after that he opened the door for me like a true gentleman, and were nearly joined at the hip.
"I can't believe you're jealous of some flower seeds." I giggled.
"I might need therapy," he joked.
"Maybe so..." I paused. "...maybe after I give you that plaque on your desk reminding you that you're my bitch."
He might've choked on our way to the building, but not after giving my hand a tight squeeze.
And I knew exactly what that meant. You'll pay for that later, baby.
We needed to take an elevator to get get through to our destination, and once we reached there, I was in awe. The restaurant was lavish and formal, modern, sleek, elegant, nothing less than anything that dealt with Urban Corp. It was also a place that I'm sure whoever we planned to meet in the evening would be of the same standard. From briefly seeing the many people at the New Year's Eve gala, and the strangers who stepped in and out of the company were all of status and prestige. I was sure this dinner would be no different.
The hostess pointed us to a table at which two gentlemen were seated. Harry briefly commented, "Lord knows, I'm turning into you, being late at important meetings."
But even with a faux offended laugh, I didn't have enough to scold him for such a teasing remark.
The men stood at our sight, one nudging the other to inform him briefly. It was clear that they were surprised that someone else would be joining them for the meeting — and that someone was me.
Harry's work expression came into quick play, his professional stance seeping through, even though he had the fingers of his left hand intertwined with mine. I had noticed that ever since he propose — he always held onto me this way in public. It was subtle for a while, but after Amara briefly noticed why, a heartwarming feeling burst through my stomach.
Butterflies.
It wasn't a possessive thing, nor was it a warning to others, but in a way, it was informing the public that I was taken — therefore, not single or open to having a relationship with someone else.
Honestly, it was a relatively easy way to ward off unwelcome unwanted creeps who thought I was searching for a good time or otherwise. Mars thought so, too.
Harry seemed pleased with his handiwork, and I teased him for it at first, but I saw his honest intentions, and it never failed to show how much he truly loved me.
During one of our many intimate encounters, he would say things like, "You're mine, aren't you? Just mine." Or "You'll never want anyone else after me." Or "You're only my good girl. Isn't that right?"
It was true.
So, with every brush through my hair or holding a cup of whatever beverage in my left hand, my engagement ring was in clear sight to anyone who looked my way.
Harry addressed both men, shaking one first with a firm handshake and the second to follow. He apologised for being tardy, blaming it on himself, and the statement made me smile.
"Pleasure to see you again, Mr Styles," a man with the last name Evans spoke.
He seemed about ten years older than Harry, of similar height but a little chubby. He wore a navy suit, white button-down shirt, and chestnut-toned polished loafers. His hair was getting a tad sparse, but overall, he looked decent.
The other man appeared to be the same age but was in a grey suit, a tad shorter, and had a pair of specs on the bridge of his nose. He had a trimmed moustache and thicker black and pepper-coloured hair. This stranger, known to be Dalton Withers, was more good-looking.
But nobody was as breathtaking as Harry.
Even if they tried, they wouldn't come close. Maybe I was biased, but I would forever stand by my statement.
"Parker, Dalton, please call me Harry. I think we've done enough of those formalities," he replied, and I couldn't stop the way my lips parted and eyes widened.
Harry was formal and professional, always calling people by their last names, as he always thought that it should be. Heck, he continued that with me until I told him not to. It was surprising that he was finally loosening up with certain business partners.
"Well, now, that's a first, Harry." Parker laughed.
That was a first, Parker. You're right.
"Now, who is this lovely lady you've brought with you?" Dalton asked, a hint of curiosity with underlying interest was the profound nature of his question.
My Englishman straightened, his jawline slightly further before he placed a light hand on my hip. I could sense the hint of jealousy erupting, and I just knew it would be an amusing night.
"Gentlemen, this is Serenity Hayes, my fiancée," Harry answered firmly, yet still keeping soft, not to ruin anything, of course.
But I saw how Dalton laughed under his breath, his tongue poking in his left cheek.
Parker, on the other hand, seemed delighted with glee.
"It's wonderful to meet you, Miss Hayes. I might guess you're behind this different version of Harry," he spoke happily, and I chuckled.
"Please, call me Serenity. I don't do too well with last names," I said, shaking their extended hands. "And no, this is just Harry 2.0...with a new update."
At that, Harry laughed.
"Is that so? You flatter me, darling," he said cheekily.
"She's a special one." Parker laughed, pointing at me and then back at Harry.
"Shall we?"
Harry brushed my arm before pulling out my chair with a smile. He wanted to give me the royal treatment in front of them. It's not that he didn't do that all the time, but it was the first time he was doing things like this in front of people he knew outside of his personal life.
My eyes kept skimming around the restaurant whenever they spoke. I couldn't get over how beautiful it. Twilight Noir, located on a rooftop that overlooked the Pacific, under the stars that shone down below us. It was breathtaking and I just wanted to step outside, but we were sitting indoors simply because of the wind. And apparently, it was better to talk business — which was understandable.
Our orders included the finest steaks, some chicken dish with a French name I couldn't pronounce, and escargot as an appetiser they wanted to try. Harry nearly laughed when I found out they were snails. I saw the way his lips rolled in, and then he hid them behind a closed fist. Apparently, it was a delicacy that people seemed quite fond of.
Parker pushed me to try one, and I refused politely.
"No, thank you. I'm saving my appetite for my main course." It was a smooth save. What else was I going to say? Um, absolutely not. Snails and slugs are not meant to be eaten.
I would've said that if it were my family and friends, but I couldn't do that — not at a formal business dinner.
Harry, though, couldn't refuse. I eyed him carefully as he chewed one. Hiding my disgust, I simply patted my hand on his thigh as a silent warning: 'You are not kissing me until you brush your teeth.'
A pout formed at that. He understood.
Good.
Things were fine — post snails.
Business was the next official topic, and the purpose of the dinner.
I observed them as they spoke about a new building that Urban Corp. was meant to be funding for their company. There was much talk about finances, and Harry mentioned who would be in charge of what part of project and the stage of it.
I was silent for most of it, watching how he navigated the conversation smoothly. His forearms rested on the table's edge, and he clasped his hands occasionally, moving them with specific words. Harry was in his element, in his position, showing the two men — and the world — that he was good at what he did.
Well, beyond good. Harry didn't become CEO for nothing.
When the discussion flowed onto something I could talk about, I considered on putting in my two cents. I wasn't an interior designer, but I had knowledge and a flair for style. I knew what looked best with what. So I asked about what they had in mind for it, but from knowing the type of company the building was for, it didn't make sense to me.
If they wanted traditional and professional for the business nature of cyber security, it wasn't exactly ideal. I told them that sleek and modern was the way to go, or possibly even in route of the industrial design. There were many ways to give an executive look without making it seem so dull and dreary. Though Urban Corp. wasn't of that same type, it was an example of how you can intertwine what the company is for and how it looks like.
"You can't design a beach house in the south with Scandinavian elements. You need coastal or French country. Otherwise, it'll just be awkward."
They were impressed.
And Harry was proud.
He looked at me with a cheery expression. That was how his expression was whenever I did something unexpected and surprising. We both knew that it happened with me sometimes — or a lot, really.
I wasn't trying to impress them; I was just being myself and sharing my thoughts.
Apparently, that caught their eye quite well.
"She really is special, Harry," Parker said again. "She has such dazzling charm."
Even with the awe that man showed me, Harry wasn't even jealous.
He had a little obsession with feeling that way when it came to other men being interested in me, especially when it looked like they were trying to shoot their shot, but it seemed that smoothed right past him today.
"She really is. I'm a lucky man," he replied, his eyes on me sparkling in awe. "Humbles me, too."
I laughed.
"You make it seem like I'm an angel."
"You are."
"Enough of that now. You're making me blush," I said, my cheeks turning pink.
Harry giving me compliments in public and in front of his business partners wasn't exactly something I expected him to do. Yet, here he was, surprising me in a way I wasn't sure any of us would've ever seen coming.
Parker smiled, mentioning how sweet it was that Harry was affectionate towards me. On the other hand, Dalton had a slight frown, a tad irritated. Someone else noticed, though, that someone gave him the slightest smirk.
"Well, Serenity, it was a pleasure to meet you," Dalton said, as he stood from his chair, buttoning his suit jacket.
"It was all mine. Thank you for the lovely evening."
"Do bring her to all of your meetings, Harry. This was by far the best business meal I've ever had," Dalton commented.
"I should bring my wife next time. That way, if we bore you, you'll have someone else to speak to," the other man added.
"You both were surely not a bore." I smiled. "And I would love to meet your wife, Parker."
With a couple more handshakes, we bid each other goodbye.
Looking back at the table, I noticed that one thing was missing: dessert. That's when I learned that ordering dessert at a business dinner is 'not customary.'
"That's stupid."
Harry found that amusing and told me to order whatever I wanted. So we both sat back down, and I asked the waiter for a chocolate mouse for us to share. The unfortunate part about it was that once it arrived, it was far too sweet for our taste buds. My fiancé, once again, laughed at my expression of shock at the intense, sugary flavour.
"Check?"
"Check."
We both decided to grab blueberry muffins and London Fogs at the Quaint Café instead. Indeed, we were overdressed, but we didn't care — or, this time, Harry didn't care.
His confidence and lack of heed for what others thought anymore were still so surprising to me. Even though it'd been months since his credence of self-victory came through, I was still so proud of him.
That night, over our deliciously cheap desserts and drinks, I asked Harry how much he paid for the business dinner. He refused to answer initially, but with my persistence, he finally gave in.
The answer was simple: I should have asked. It was much, much more than I ever would have guessed.
Harry's condo could attest to that.
He asked me what I thought about the dinner, and if I was lying about being bored, I told him the utmost truth. I wasn't, but I was mainly surprised at how much I enjoyed myself.
It was partially because I loved seeing him in work mode whenever I got the chance, but being Harry's fiancée in that setting made me feel important and worthy of prestige. I liked that. I also knew that maybe, in the future, I might feel tedious, but that would only matter to the company.
Regardless, I'd always look forward to our alone time afterwards.
He smiled, tugging my hand to place a kiss atop it.
"I love you."
By the time we got home, we were exhausted. All we wanted to do was change, get into our pjs and relax in each other's arms.
So we washed up — making sure Harry brushed his teeth from the snails — and got all cosy in our bed.
My head rested on his chest, and his fingers ran through my hair. Luna was sleeping at the top of her tree in the living room, being the queen she knew she was. Our minds were calm, and we were comfortable.
His breaths were deep and heavy, and he hummed softly to his favourite piano tune. He was warm under my touch, faintly smoothing my skin against his.
"Tell me something," he whispered, caressing through my hair. It was gentle and soothing.
He hadn't said that to me in a long time, and something had been on my mind for a while, something that I wasn't sure how to bring up to him.
But this was my chance.
"I—"
Wait, could I?
Should I?
The idea had been roaming around in my mind for a while, especially since he first mentioned Starlight's opportunity to franchise. With everything that Urban Corp. does for small businesses, so much more could be done.
So much more that Harry could do — could own.
The possibilities and potential were endless.
"Essie?" Harry called softly.
"Sorry. I was thinking," I said, clearing my throat slightly, and then I looked up at him. He was peering down at me with curious eyes through the glass of his specs as I moved so that I could face him better.
Sitting up, my fingers laced together, and the corner my bottom lip was between my teeth. I knew he could tell the nerves radiate from my body, and if I wasn't going to say more, he'd start to worry.
With a deep sigh, I finally spoke up. "Why don't you open up your own small business? You can have someone run it for you."
At those words, his brows furrowed and then tilted his head to the side.
"Baby, what are you talking about?"
With a nervous breath, I spoke, "A flower shop."
He stilled. Frozen in time, I swore I heard his breath stop for a moment.
"A—a what?" His voice was at a mere whisper, still processing what I'd said.
I smiled at his shocked expression.
It was as if I told him he should open a warehouse for housing fugitives.
"A flower shop. I mean, you love them so much, so why don't you do something more with them? No one has to know you're the reason behind it, but it could be something else you love under your belt. You have your successful career, and you'd turn your love for flowers into a business, too."
"I—I don't know what to say," he whispered, brows pinched together as he tried to comprehend what I'd just said.
Harry looked puzzled yet still beautiful in his comfy appearance. Grey sweats soft against his legs, a plain white tee adorning his torso. His silky brunette crown was softly swaying with every slight movement. His teeth peeked through his mouth, biting slightly into his bottom lip.
But as more silence passed, I noticed his brows furrowing deeper, so I placed my palm on his cheek to separate him from his thoughts.
"I mean, you don't have to. It's just an idea. I thought it'd be nice," I spoke softly, shrugging slightly. "It'll be your little secret to share with the world."
"It's just — I've never thought about that before. My flower garden was always a secret until I shared it with you. I don't know how I'd feel about sharing it with others."
"See, that's the thing. It wouldn't have to be you. It still would be a secret, and no one would know. You could have someone else be in charge of it or suggest the idea to them. I don't know. I'm just being my random self, rambling and all. Ignore me if you think it's a bad idea."
"Maybe..." he paused, trailing off. "...maybe it would be nice. I have no clue how the fuck it would all happen, but it's something I could think about doing."
"Yeah?"
"Maybe — I — yeah." He smiled softly. "Yeah."
At that, I noticed how Harry got back into his thoughts, but this time, there was a sparkle between them. I knew he'd taken my words, which were processing in his mind. So, wordlessly, I decided to shift my body and push him down so that he was the one resting his head against my stomach. His arms curled around my body, settling back into a comfortable position.
I could hear the soft hums that came from him every time I ran my fingers through his silky strands. Occasionally, I'd press my tips against his scalp, gently massaging him. He was warm and content, entirely in his mind, and all I could do was smile down at the man I loved.
I was happy. We were happy.

As the days passed, local word got around that I was lovely company during Urban Corp.'s dinner and was invited along to many others. Apparently, the few ideas I mentioned seemed brilliant, and jokes were made that I should be sitting alongside the BOD.
Harry was positively proud of me and pulled out his comical self, saying that he was faux offended that I'd take over his position as CEO and President of the company. The warm feeling bubbled intensely as people continued praising me for my intelligence. Of course, I was simply a contemporary ballerina, nothing more, nothing less.
I had no interest in entering the business world. Besides, I knew that eventually, it would bore me as a full-time job. Harry knew and understood that, no matter how many times he actually asked for my advice on certain things during our late-night chats.
I did join him plenty for dinners, though, each time being introduced as his fiancée and as the owner of Starlight Studio. He was sure to emphasise who I was to those he knew, proving to people that he wasn't engaged to just anyone. Though he was never a fan of proving anything, knowing that he was clever with picking someone in his personal life — the life that no one else knew about gave him an advantage, both a plus, and an edge.
Harry wasn't surprised when a few of the people he knew had children who wanted to become dancers, and I could only accept a couple. My studio was officially full. However, I did give private lessons to one couple who wanted to learn how to dance the salsa.
My fiancé showed up to that one just before the end and watched from the sidelines, leaning against a wall. The couple only saw him when they were walking out, not mentioning that he was watching; he wanted to keep it private for them.
That night, before we left, Harry surprised me by playing the song I'd chosen and dancing to the same one with me. He'd picked up the steps and was ready to prove his worth to me.
"Not going to step on my toes, Mr Styles?"
"No. As long as you don't wear your stilettos with me barefoot, Miss Hayes. Or shall I say, future Mrs Styles," he replied smoothly.
And the dance was, indeed, smooth — absolutely faultless. Quick steps, right on the beat, grasping my hands with a perfect amount of firmness and letting go with ease. His hips moved, not with grace but with sass.
Our eyes remained connected the entire time, not to ensure we enjoyed ourselves but to continue showing our passion for one another. It never faded since the moment I saw him.
When I first met Harry Styles, I never imagined he would dance with me the way he did now.
The man did have two left feet. Putting his dance skills to the very back of his mind, he dug deep into a pit of hate to rid his past. He tugged every last vile feeling to the trash — a true 180.
With the song still playing that night, Harry pulled me into my office and took me with that same passion — right against the door. It was frantic, heavy, and quick, but he lasted. In fact, he lasted until we got home, wanting to edge himself as long as he could. It was one of the many things he wanted to try.
"That was so good but so fucking painful. Remind me never to hold off that long, baby." I vividly remember laughing when he said to me. "Oh? She's smiling at my pain. That isn't polite, darling. But I'll give you two choices, you can pick from. You can stop now, and I won't torture you next time. Or, you can keep laughing, and I'll really give you something to laugh about."
I couldn't stop.
And it really took some time when I was begging him to stop after nearly tickling the life out of me.
But I wouldn't have changed it for the world.
I wouldn't change anything about Harry or our life.
And I wouldn't change the fact that he had got me to visit him at work lately.
There was something he enjoyed about his girl seeing him during the day and going home with her. It was heartening, and I always said yes, except when I couldn't get away because of my own career.
After all, I was a dancer and a business owner.
"Just because my company isn't as big as yours doesn't mean I can slack on it, Tiger."
"Ah, that's right, you are." He grinned. "My brave and successful starlight girl, dancing her sweet little heart away."
"Little heart, you say? Is that so, H?"
"You've got the biggest heart I've ever known, Es, baby," Harry murmured, pulling me over to give me a chaste kiss.
I smiled against his lips, pleased with winning another mini quarrel.
"Let me just get these folders set, then we can go home."
Home.
That became such a familiar word to say between us. Though we always mentioned it was wherever we were together, it was always referred to as our apartment — not the condo.
One day, after a lengthy argument with a solid reason, he said, "Baby, it's not fair for you to pay for the apartment. It's not just you who's living there."
"And why is that? We live here. You pay for everything when we go out. It's only fair," I said. "Plus, you spend too much money on me."
"You're kidding, right? Sweetheart, I don't mean to brag, but I am a multi-billionaire. I have more than enough money to buy the entire complex. And it's not spending on you — not when it's both of us. I like paying for things. It makes me feel useful," he spoke softly, his hand cupping my cheek, thumb smoothing gently across my jaw. "...well, other than something else that we both find very useful."
He would say anything and find a way to make it dirty.
"Why don't you feel useless? That doesn't click for me."
"Love, I have nothing else to give you back."
"Harry, that should be me, not you. Sure, I make money now, and I know it's nothing near what you make, but the only thing I really give you is my love. So I'd like to spend things on you."
"I think you're missing the point, darling. My love for you is a whole other thing — that's everything — but I don't want anything else. You've given me so much. You've helped me be more confident and find more feelings — you've made me know what normal means. That's something that money can't buy."
"I—" I was speechless. I really couldn't argue with that.
"You going to let me pay the rent, right?"
After many heavy breaths, I sighed in defeat. "Fine."
"Wonderful."
"But do you want to sell your condo? Or do you want to keep it?"
"I think we'll live here, but I'll still keep the condo. I know you love the view, and if you want to have people over, we can do that there since it's bigger."
"The view is definitely pretty," I said with a smile.
"You're pretty."
"Nah, that's you, handsome."
Harry slid the folders into his briefcase before walking over to the stand to slip his suit jacket on. His fingers moved to button up the first hole before glancing up at me with a sly grin. He knew I was watching him.
"Dirty girl," he cheekily said, and a blush flooded my face.
"It's not my fault that you're so sexy. You just eat that up so well. Cocky, you are, Tiger."
"It's not my fault I have a stunning woman as my fiancée. One who I can't wait to go home with."
No matter what, Harry was smooth, and he'll forever have that talent for easing in and out of conversations — or brief situations like the one we were in.
"After you, my love." Harry extended his hand, and I walked out of the office before him.
But it wasn't long before he took hold of it as we waited for Harry's special elevator.
He kept me close the entire time, and we both had brief small talk, which quickly led to the pranks that Charlie played on Harry a week ago.
Apparently, standing too close to an open window can scare the bejeezus out of the man — he didn't fall for it this time. He saw his reflection while wearing his glasses, which backfired on my younger brother.
His spectacles saved him this time; however, not on all occasions.
Not for when Charlie slipped five tablespoons of sugar into his lemonade after his first sip.
Or when Charlie placed a rubber snake in the refrigerator before telling him to grab the lemonade pitcher waiting inside.
Or when Charlie put some glue on a napkin before handing him to wipe his mouth after spitting out the — no longer — refreshing drink.
To which all of that happened in five minutes. I had to say that he did play it well. At least, for the most part.
"Oh, is that so?" he teased, repeating by letting go of my hand to pinch my waist as we both laughed.
"I mean, you're an easy target when it comes to him," I paused. "Well, usually. So don't blame me for that."
"Who else w—"
And then suddenly, the elevator came to a screeching halt.
I clutched onto Harry's bicep out in instinct, holding him right. "H-Harry, it stopped. W-why did it stop?"
Before he could answer, the lights flickered on and off, darkening the small space before dying out entirely. The only button remaining lit was the emergency red — one that I was desperate to press repeatedly.
We were stuck.
"I'm sure it's just a technical thing, love. Don't worry."
"How could you know—"
"Shh, it's alright, baby," he shushed me softly. "Let me give the security desk a quick ring."
Using his free hand, he pulled out his phone and dialled the number, putting the device up to his ear. But it wasn't seconds later until he checked the screen again, furrowing his brows as he cursed.
To my suspicion, I was correct.
"No service in the lift, darling. I'm sorry."
"Isn't technology these days supposed to be smarter? We're not in the 90s! I mean, you've been on the phone in here before!" I exclaimed, and a loud sound came from outside, causing me to yelp out.
The elevator shouldn't have been the offended one.
My chest was heaving, arms flailing, unsure what to do with them or how to stand. I was scared, terrified, and nervous all at once.
And all of a sudden, I felt like I was alone, and everything was entrapping my whole being. I was trapped with no other place to run. The walls were closing in on me, leaving me no air to breathe.
Harry hushed me once more, pulling me closer to him.
I wasn't alone. He was here with me.
"Essie, don't be afraid. Focus on my voice. Breathe with me, baby. Take a deep breath in and let it out. Listen to the air escaping my nose, okay?" He repeated the same words he had spoken so many months ago for the first time. It was almost as if it had been yesterday.
The only difference was that this time, he wasn't just Mr Styles anymore; I was his Essie, and he was my Tiger.
The panic wasn't the same, though. It was still there, but much less terrifying than the first time. I trusted him as a stranger then, and I trusted him more as a lover now.
Harry took my hand and placed it over his heart, feeling the firmness of his chest under my palm. He didn't let go, keeping his atop mine, holding it tenderly.
"Feel my heartbeat. Listen to it and breathe slowly," he softly spoke, showing the faintest smile.
That was the same. He brought me back to my old memories by making me remember how safe I felt with him back when we didn't even know each other. Hell, he wasn't even my investor at that time. I was just the hopeless girl with a noun for a name and desperate for him to hear my business pitch.
My attention landed on our hands, feeling the beat of his heart underneath my touch. It was steady and relaxed, one thump at a time.
Changing my focus, I met his green eyes sparkling under the dimmed light in the space. I could see that same faint curl of his lips, though our gaze never parted.
"That's better, yeah?" he whispered, and I nodded slightly. "You're okay. You're safe."
"Thank you."
"You never need to thank me, love. I'm always going to be there for you and keep you safe."
His tone never rose. He kept quiet as if it were a secret he was afraid to share with the world.
"Let's sit?" he suggested.
"Okay."
Harry never let go as he lowered himself to the floor. Resting his back against the wall, he stretched his legs and tugged on our joined hands for me to follow. But I was surprised when he sat me down on his lap instead of sitting next to him.
"I think this is more comfortable, wouldn't you agree?" he asked with a soft, cheeky grin.
I couldn't help but giggle slightly at his question and affirmed my answer with a single nod.
"That's my girl," Harry said with a smile. "You feeling okay, Es?"
"I am. You always make things better."
"That's you, baby love. Wouldn't know what I would have done with my life without you," he spoke softly, looking down as he thumbed over my engagement ring before meeting my eyes again. "I mean, if you honestly didn't break into my office and break into my heart the way you did, I don't think I ever would have found true happiness. I didn't know what it was before you.
"Being miserable for years, having a shitty family, no friends, and being cheated on, fucking sucked. I didn't know what real love could be like, and you showed me that. You gave me that. I know it seems like I'm on a broken record sometimes, but it's true.
"You've had so much more before me. You had loving family and friends you could die for, and feeling happy all the time. And—"
"Harry, stop," I said, placing my finger on his lips. "Stop. Yes, my family and friends have always been amazing, and I felt happy for the majority of my life, but I never experienced true love. It was something I never even thought of. You remember Connor? He was my first and only serious relationship, but with him, I still felt as though something was missing.
"We clicked and had some chemistry but wanted different things. It was a mutual breakup, and I wasn't bothered by it. After him, I got busy with my life, accomplishing everything good for me and making a name for myself." Taking a deep breath, I looked at him with a small smile. "I mean, even with you, did you honestly think you could ever be with someone like me?"
"Honestly?"
"Honestly."
"You got me hung up so fast. You intrigued me, but I think if you never had the balls to—" he paused, flinching, and noticed how amused I was with his terminology. "...um, sorry, guts."
"Thanks for clarifying. I had no idea I had different whatnots down there."
He squinted at me, scrunching his nose whilst meeting my gaze with a pointed look.
"Shut up."
"That's not very romantic...buster."
Harry cursed under his breath, mumbling, "Those damn words of hers. Never going to change."
His focus shifted back towards me, licking his lips as he tilted his head with a suggestive smirk.
"Kissy, darling. Let me give you romantic."
Those words never failed to have butterflies swarming my tummy and warming my body.
I smiled and suggestively decided to reply similarly.
"But if we do that, Tiger, we might end up giving security a show."
Harry laughed. And it wasn't his 'every day, he laughs, and I laugh back with him about something funny someone said or did.' It was his 'I want to make you dizzy and assure you that I'm the only one on your mind' laugh.
So, he said what he thought was best.
"Fuck them. This is my company, and if I want to kiss you in the lift, I will kiss you in the lift."
It wasn't a suggestion, like his smirk; it was an order he was sure to follow through.
"I mean, fine. Since you're so persistent."
"I guess I take after the girl who once said no can mean yes. You just have to see it," he replied, a twinkle in his eyes. "But in this case, I think I'll have to feel it."
And with a smug grin on his face and a teasing smirk on mine, our lips met with a delightful smile and a harmonious hum.
It was light and gentle, tender — unlike the tone of voice he gave me moments prior. There was such a duality with Harry that I loved. One second, he was a demanding and powerful man, and the next, he was the biggest softy, a teddy bear.
I just knew that the way his mouth was molded on mine, we were puzzle pieces that fit together perfectly. Velvet and smooth, to fervent and eager. His hands settled on my waist, leaning my body further into him as he squeezed slightly.
Breathless and heavy, it felt like our first kiss all over again.
The kiss that happened not far from here, just on the floor we were on moments prior.
And also where I confessed my love to him.
So many things happened in Harry's company that made my heart warm and fuzzy whenever I walked into the building — and even more so when I walked straight into his arms. Just being with the man I fell so deeply for was enough to make me a sappy mess.
I teased Harry more than I could count about him being that hopeless, cheesy romantic, even though I was a million times worse. I adored everything he said and did. It all meant the absolute world to my mind, heart, and soul.
With a final peck, his lips pressed a feather touch on my nose, followed by a soft brush with his own. My eyes fluttered open, and I smiled shyly.
"Harry?"
He tilted his head, gentle emerald gems sparkling, reflecting the glowing amber light above us inside. "Yes, love?"
I bit the corner of my mouth. "I love you."
He smiled, moving to tenderly cup my cheek.
"I love you more."
And that's when the lights suddenly flickered on, a shake of the elevator as it began to descend again, trembled me back into fear.
"Easy, darling. Steady. I've got you," he spoke softly, then moved to get us on our feet.
Harry held me close until we reached the main level. He reached down to grab his briefcase in his hand just before the doors slid open.
A pair of security guards were waiting on the other side. One apologised for what happened and told him he had called the company to repair it, and the other... well...he could barely make eye contact with us.
It was clear he saw the footage of our heated kiss.
Of course, Harry noticed and made sure he got his attention. With a firm voice, he said, "Watch it again, and you're fired. And if you don't delete it, you're fired. Get to it."
The poor man stumbled over his words as he profusely apologised, his face beet red. He did get to it quickly — more or less, he nearly ran away from us in embarrassment.
But I wasn't sure who should feel that way more, me or him.
Harry would say the latter.
We walked hand in hand through the lobby and out of the building. The evening air was crisp, a soft breeze wafting between us. The sun had set and the sky was a canvas of the fading orange and purple, a unique painting hovering above.
Archie was waiting a distance away, a smile on his face as he saw us approaching.
However, halfway through, I felt a tug that stopped us from continuing. I turned to look at Harry, who had a brief smirk on his face.
"What's wrong?"
He responded with a soft chuckle. "Remember what I said when I first told you I loved you?"
"Maybe," I replied with a grin. "Care to refresh my memory?"
"You see this company?" He pointed towards the building behind him, and I nodded, holding my expression.
"Yeah, your precious Urban Corp., of course. What about it?"
Harry pulled me closer, a heavy breath leaving his mouth. "I always thought that after hitting my high position, it would be the most important thing in my life...that nothing would ever match it. But I was wrong," he paused, raspberry lips curling upwards. "My spot, my professional stance, all of it, is nothing compared to you. You're my everything, starlight. I took a risk on you, which was the best I ever took.
"You're my sweetheart, my darling, the woman I want to forever give kissy's to, the woman I'm going to marry. You're my baby love and the one I'm forever executively devoted to."
His emerald gems sparkled even more than they did in the elevator. I saw stars between them, my favourite single, Antares, glowing within the man I deeply loved.
It was then that I noticed where we were standing.
The very exact place where I gave him a surprise hug.
The very place where we shook hands for the first time.
The very place he congratulated me.
And the very place I told him to call him by my first name.
"I only do first names with certain people with certain deals," I repeated his words from so long ago.
His lip quirked upwards.
"A deal in a semi-broken elevator while sitting on the floor practically in the dark," he recurred.
"We made that deal with a firm handshake then."
"And I think this time, it's time to seal it a little differently."
"Oh? And how do you suppose we do that?"
Harry's expression darkened, but that smirk remained prominent as he took one more step closer. One hand settled on my waist, the other on my cheek, and he caressed it softly with his thumb.
"Congratulations, Serenity."
And with that, he sealed the gap between our lips, pasting them together like two perfect puzzle pieces.
Kissy.

They had a full circle moment from the start...
....and yes, the first paragraph was the starting paragraph in the story. *crying*
Continuing to my fave part, what did y'all dig the chapter? What was your favourite part and all? Y'know me and my curious self.
And ooh, pretty please press on that little star on the chapter, I mean, it only takes a millisecond. They're nice gifts and make me (and Essie...and Tiger) happy.
