DO I NEED A MEMORY OF YOU TO LOVE YOU? IF I FORGET YOU A MILLION TIMES, I WILL LOVE YOU JUST THAT MUCH ~ Chris Landon
KHLOE DIAMOND
The weekend wasn't exactly a good one for me as I spent it mourning. The girls came over to console me but no one can fill the void inside of me. The void mom left, as well as the void Chris left.
It was beginning to seem as though everyone dear to me was suddenly leaving. Eventually everyone would leave! Kelvin, Hilda, Fiona, everyone!
I sat in my office thinking about my mother, I was so lost in my thoughts that I didn't notice him walk in.
"Dear lord" I shouted as I saw the figure standing with its back to the wall. He was focused on me in silence, watching me.
"What are you doing here and how long have you been here?" I asked him.
"Just a while ago." He replied, pushing off the wall and walked over to my table.
He made himself comfortable in the seat right in front of mine on the other side of the table. I couldn't help but wonder what got into his head this morning.
"What do you want Chris?" I asked him.
With a smile, he said "I want to help, you said your company was beginning to sink because of me."
"Why did the author refuse to show up herself?" I asked him. He seemed shocked at my question but I knew better. He might have forgotten but I never will.
"What do you mean?" He asked feigning ignorance.
"Chris Landon, hates novels. To him, it's just a waste of time and mostly unrealistic, he would never write a book talk less a book like "shadow"." I replied him.
He seemed amazed, I bet he wasn't expecting this but I've been too curious to let it slide. If anyone was ruining this shit under covers, they should take responsibilities instead of cowardly hiding behind someone else.
"That's not true! I love writing, especially books like shadows." He argued with a straight face making me smile at his unsuccessful attempt to hide his shock and nervousness.
Liar!
"Tell me what this shadow book is about then and why you think the cover suits it." I told him and he went quiet. He wouldn't have read it, he just wasn't a fan.
"I'd do a press conference, let everyone know that the company tried their best and it was all my fault being so stubborn." He replied me.
"Let the author do it herself" I insisted.
"She can't! Please, don't make this any more difficult than it already is." He yelled in frustration.
There was this fear in his eyes as he yelled at me, something was scaring him and he obviously just had to do this. I became worried, what if someone was threatening him?
"Chris!" I said calmly. "It's fine!" I added.
He was breathing heavily, running his hand through his hair. I don't know what it was but this could definitely be more complicated than I can ever imagine.
I stood up and went over to him, bending right in front of him, I held both of his hands. He looked at me surprised but he didn't resist, he just stared at me.
"I won't push you into doing anything, despite knowing the book isn't yours, I wouldn't bother you. No one has to know and I appreciate you wanting to put an effort to help." I told him calmly caressing the back of his palm with my thumb.
"Thanks." He replied with a tight smile which made me smile as well.
"But you have to pay me back." I told him.
"What is that? Money?" He asked which made me laugh. Is everything all about money?
"Let me cling on to you even though you do not remember me, let me create new memories with you. Losing a person is enough, I can't lose two!" I replied him.
He stared at me for a pretty long time, maybe seconds but it felt like forever to me. I just wanted a response and he wasn't giving it, maybe I was pushing too hard.
"I don't know you but the thought of you being sad saddens me, the thought of you being happy makes me feel elated. I can't seem to understand any of that but I want to give myself the chance to. The chance to understand what this is, that connects us together. We could start by having lunch together today!" He finally replied.
His response was everything I needed, I couldn't describe how fast my heart beat in that moment and how happy I felt. I couldn't have two holes in my heart, my heart was heavy from the loss of my mother but it felt a lot lighter in that moment. That moment when he gave us a second chance to exist.
I would spend every moment making up for the lost time and do everything in me to make sure he remembers. I would go to any length to make sure I find out what happened to him.
If you meet once in a lifetime, you could just be passers-by, if you meet twice in a lifetime, you have a bond but if you meet thrice in a lifetime your are meant to be.
Meeting you twice in this lifetime is enough to acknowledge our bond. When you finally remember me, we would be meeting the third time, that is enough for me. Till then, I'd take every chance that I can.
"Lunch? Sounds great!" I said with a really wide smile.
"And can I drop the formalities? I mean, if we want to get close, there......."
"Khloe! I don't mind if you could call me K-bear once again!" I said quickly cutting him off!
"K-bear?" He asked with a look of confusion on his face. I couldn't exactly say it could be because he forgot, the name rolled of his tongue in a familiar way and I could've sworn he knew that name.
•••••••••••••••••••
CHRIS LANDON
"K-bear?" I asked trying to connect the dots.
I had a heart necklace with the inscription CHRIS, It was couple necklace, it had another necklace holding a key to the heart necklace with an inscription "K-bear".
All of these years I only wondered what K-bear could have meant, I wonder why I had a couple necklace with the name I do not recognize.
K-bear was on a lot of my stuffs that I ended up hiding away, like a congratulations card that held that name, a teddy, a medal, and more stuffs.
Mom said she had no idea who that was and told me not to worry about it but for the first time, someone mentioned that. No! She referred to herself as that.
"Is everything okay?" She asked me.
"Yeah! Just, you're K-bear?" I asked in reply and she nodded with a smile.
"You always called me that" she replied.
All of these while I couldn't admit I had a problem but now, something was definitely wrong with me. I have loops in my memory, and I have to find out why.
