2.
Roman crashed pitifully down onto his bed, an arm thrown over his eyes.
'By far, one of the worst episodes yet.'
The fanciful side sighed heavily as he reflected on the events that had happened.
Roman couldn't begin to collect himself to form one coherent thought. His mind was jumbled, and in the worst way.
Nothing made sense to him anymore. There was no way for Roman to win, it felt like.
If he sided with Deceit, he got called out by Virgil, saying that he couldn't be trusted. And he was right! How were they to trust the side known as Deceit? A side all about lying, and a side known for being a villain, at that.
Sitting upright, Roman ran a hand through his hair, pushing his bangs out of his face.
The other sides had once said that Deceit- or, Janus, as he revealed - had manipulated him before. Who's to say he won't do it again, this time to the others?!
Roman couldn't begin to concentrate here. His room only muddled his thoughts, and multiplied them. He had to go somewhere else, somewhere where he could just... Breathe.
He sank down, only to rise up back in the theatre that De-Janus (it, inevitably, will take Roman a long time to get used to his new name) created a while ago.
The same theatre Janus had convinced h to get on stage to act out different lies he had created.
As Roman paced the stage, his thoughts began to become less muddled, and more coherent.
But there was one that seemed to overrule them all.
'I wouldn't know who the evil twin is!'
Roman knew he had upset Janus. He could read it on his face fairly easily.
However, he didn't expect the deceitful side to bite back with an insult of his own.
Distantly, Roman wondered if Janus even knew how badly that comment would've stung. He had to assume so, I mean he was the /villain/ after all, wasn't he?
The answer to that question felt more complicated than he'd rather think about.
Pacing the stage, he remembered what he had said to Thomas.
Roman was supposed to be the hero in all of this. He was supposed to be the one that could fix this!
And it just seemed like... He wrecked it all.
He didn't look up when he heard the theatre doors open. He could already predict who else would enter.
It's not like Logan visits the theatre.
Patton didn't even know the theatre existed, since he was in his room for that episode.
Virgil wouldn't even think to come to the theatre.
Remus... Is Remus.
So that left-
"Ah, hello there, Roman."
Upon hearing his name, Roman huffed, turning his gaze to the back of the theatre, away from Janus.
"What are you doing here, Deceit?" He responded, his arms crossed. Janus made his way closer to the edge of the stage, glancing over to the desk on his right before reaching the stage.
"Same as you. I came here to clear my head." He answered simply, inspecting his glove. Roman stomped towards the side, glaring down at him.
"Well what makes you think you deserve to be here?" He spat, towering over Janus. The side, in return, glanced up at Roman, then moved towards the stairs. He climbed the stairs, now on the stage with Roman. He glanced around the area, then his gaze landed on Roman. He raised both his hands, an eyebrow raised.
"You're right, why on /Earth/ would I go to the theatre that I created? Oh, such a fool am I," he spoke, sarcasm dripping from his words. Roman scoffed, rolling his eyes.
"Well, fine, if you came here to gloat, then I'll just leave," Roman finished, starting towards the stairs.
"Wait."
Roman stopped in his tracks, his back still to Janus.
"I've had time to think it over, and... What I've said to you. It wasn't right. Neither you nor Remus deserved that. I truly believe that neither of you are evil, and neither of you should be regarded as if you were." Janus paused, taking a step towards Roman. The creative side turned slowly towards Janus, and gave him a quick up-and-down look.
He saw no dishonesty, no smirk, no kind of unkindness on his face.
Just an honest, genuine look of apology.
"You didn't deserve that comment, no matter how much yours stung. So Roman," he looked the prince in the eyes, his multi-coloured eyes vulnerable,
"I am sorry."
Roman took a deep breath, taking a single step towards the deceitful side. Roman knew he should apologize as well, that he should say something for taking advantage of Janus's vulnerability, but the words kept dissolving on his tongue. He had to say something.
Seeming to be finished with his apology, however, Janus glanced around once more, huffing dramatically.
"Ugh, this theatre is so drafty, I'll have to do some remodeling - perhaps I'll ask Remus to assist me in that," he spoke, turning on his heel and walking back down to the stairs. Roman took more steps towards Janus, the lump in his throat restricting him from speaking.
Janus turned around to face Roman, making eye contact with him.
They stood there, Janus halfway down the stairs, with Roman staring him down. Janus gave him a small smile, his scales shimmering in the stage lights.
"I'll be seeing you, Roman."
With that, Janus continued down the stairs, towards the exit of the theatre.
Finally, Romans vocal cords seemed to have kicked back in.
"Janus, wait!"
Now it was Janus's turn to stop in his tracks, his gloved hand on the theatre doors.
"I'm-"
"I know, Roman." Janus finished for him. Roman brought his gaze from the ground to Janus, who was staring him in the eyes. He was smiling slightly again.
"I'll be seeing you."
