Chapter 2
DISCLAIMER: SINCE I DON'T OWN DC, THERE ARE (unfortunately) NO CONANS OR KAITOS IN MY CLOSET.
"This is not going to be a good day." Conan declared. His face was the exact opposite of happy, which was understandable if you take a look at his costume. While Ran and Sonoko were walking to the large mansion's front door, Conan was trying to hide from the world. The reason? Sonoko's "Costume (IT JUST TRIED TO AUTOCORRECT "Costume" TO "Costume!" AND I JUST ABOUT DIED) of Death" turned out to be a dalmatian costume. Luckily, the costume had a mask that covered his face so it was a bit harder to figure out it was him. But Sonoko would probably blab to everyone that he was under the mask, so that didn't really matter all to much. Plus, only his face was concealed with the mask. His spiky hair was sticking out from under the head band that held a fake pair of dog ears.
"What are you complaining about, brat?" Sonoko said when she heard what Conan muttered. Sonoko had believed that he would love the costume, since he was such a dog. She decided she would make that joke sometime at the party. Sonoko snickered at the reaction he would have that she imagined. Conan and Ran looked at her quizzically. "What are you laughing about Sonoko?" Ran asked. "Oh nothing~" Sonoko replied quickly.
They walked into the party after showing the officer at the gate their invitations. As they walked away, Ran questioned Sonoko. "Why is there a police officer at the gate?" She asked. Serena thought for a bit before answering. "I think it's because last year, someone placed a bomb threat or something.... I don't really remember clearly though." "Oh, well I hope that doesn't happen this year." Quietly, Conan slipped away from the girls, heading towards the bathroom to change into a costume he had stored just for this scenario.
Conan walked into the bathroom and locked the door. No one had sen him go in, so no one knew he was in there. He pulled out the costume from a bag he was secretly carrying. Conan pulled out a white suit with a monocle. He smirked as he though of how surprised Sonoko would be.

Ran was walking with Sonoko when she realised that Conan had disappeared to heaven-knows-where. "Hey Sonoko," she called. "Have you seen Conan?" Sonoko smirked. "He's probably just hiding somewhere. Conan didn't really want to put the costume on." "What costume?" A voice called from behind them. The girls turned to see who was talking. But they both had a good idea who it was, judging from the accent and the fire in his voice. "Oh, hey Heiji." Ran responded. But Sonoko was already in hype mode, hardly able to contain herself. "The costume that I bought for him, of course~" she somehow managed to say between giggles. "Ahuehuehuehue~" Heiji looked at her for a bit. Then he turned to Ran, demanding an explanation. "Oh," she stated. "I'm not allowed to say~" Heiji only groaned at her answer. 'Guess I'm gonna hafta find 'im myself.' He concluded in his head.
"So where did ya last see 'im?" Heiji inquired. "Um...I think I saw him head off to the restroom." She stated. "That kid has the smallest bladder around." Sonoko scoffed. Heiji smirked. 'It 'pears dat goin' to da bathroom is his best way of gettin' outta stayin' with these guys.' He noticed. While the author tried to make sure that she wasn't exaggerating Heiji's accent, the lights went out. "Huh. Must be a blackout." Sonoko stated. (NO SHIRT KUDO-uh just go back to the story)
Ran felt someone tug on her mermaid tail. She looked back, expecting to she Conan. But instead, she saw a mini Kaito Kid/dalmatian hybrid which looked at her in an agitated way. "Pfffft-" she started but Conan cut her off by saying, "We are not in a situation where discussing my looks is fine." Ran snickered anyway, earning another shut-up-or-i-will-find-a-way-to-shut-you-up-myself look from Conan.
Everyone else was too engrossed with the fact that the lights just magically shut off to notice Conan and Ran's small conversation. "Hey! Who turned out the lights?" One person exclaimed. (My life will be complete if someone notices that reference) "AUGH! Who bumped me?!" Another screamed. Just then, a small spotlight appeared, shinning down on some guy who looked an awful lot like the small detective's pre-shrunken form. The look-a-like had a confused face. He mouthed the words "What the", when the spotlight went off of him in a hurry towards the window, which was fairly close to the look-a-like. Conan guessed that whoever was controlling the spotlight had made a mistake by shinning the spotlight on the look-a-like.
Then, someone next to the window shouted something, awakening Conan from his thoughts. He couldn't figure out what they had shouted, but he ran to the window anyway. He couldn't see outside the window well because something was covering it- a large Kid doodle. Then Mrs. Suzuki screamed, pointing at the display case next to her. The jewel, also known as the "Snow Queen's Spirit" for it's unusual light blue color, had vanished. Left there was a piece of paper with three words written on it, along with another Kid doodle.
"I
Am
Here."
