Brooke
The next morning, I felt a plop on my bed, jolting me awake. It was Aiden with a huge grin on his face.
"Come on, Brookey! Get your swimsuit on!" He bounced on the bed.
"What time is it?" I asked.
"Ten in the morning! Now come on!" He urged and left.
They'd mentioned a swimsuit, so I looked through my suitcase for it. It was a red one piece that had the sides cut out. I slipped into it and wrapped my cast in the plastic, so it wouldn't get wet. I went and met everyone in the backyard where there was a pool. Aunt Quinn and Uncle Jack had gotten here and everyone was in swimsuits.
"Hey, so what are we doing?" I shrugged.
"Here," Cason handed me a NERF water gun and I looked at it.
"We do all the water sports on Memorial Day," Jill laughed. "It's how we are."
"So what does the water gun have to do with it?" I asked.
"We're breaking up into teams. It's like dodgeball, but with water. You get sprayed, you're out," Jack chuckled.
"Can I be a team captain this time?" Aiden pleaded.
"Okay, sure. You're double digits now," Jack teased.
"I'm the other one," Quinn declared and they began the picking process.
On Aiden's team was me, Grams, and Jill. On Quinn's team was Jack, Gramps, and Cason. We went to opposite ends of the yard and then charged at each other, spraying each other. Grams managed to spray Gramps and he threw his arms up.
"Honey!" He exclaimed in disbelief that his own wife would betray him.
"You're out!" She chuckled and I tried not to laugh.
We were running around when Quinn got Grams out for Gramps. Soon, it came down to me and Cason and I hid my face behind the gun so I could just shoot water out of his in hopes of getting him wet.
"Ow!" He said and I looked up. "You got my eye!" He laughed, rubbing it.
"Hey, I'm working with one arm here," I defended.
"You're dead," he smirked and I ran around the backyard and he chased me. He finally grabbed me from behind and swung me around in victory. I was laughing so hard that I was crying.
"Cason, put me down!" I laughed.
"Okay," he said, but instead of putting me down, he threw me in the pool.
"Cason!" I gasped when I came up from under the water and everyone jumped in.
"You said to put you down," he smirked.
"What if I couldn't swim?" I asked.
"I'd save you," he said in a duh tone, but his eyes didn't give off the duh tone.
"Okay, next game! Chicken!" Jack said.
"Brookey, let me be on your shoulders!" Aiden pleaded.
"Okay," I laughed.
Once I got Aiden on my shoulders, Cason got on Jack's and they started to push each other. It was a bit difficult to keep Aiden on my shoulders, even if he was light, he was on a long time and my shoulders were giving out. Everyone was cheering and oohing. Since I couldn't really see what was happening between Cason and Aiden, I just went with it.
Gramps was cooking while we were playing and apparently more family was supposed to show up at any time now. Eventually, since Cason was older and had more muscle, he got a good push in and Aiden flew off my shoulders and everyone cheered.
Jack flipped Cason off his shoulders and stretched out his shoulders. "Gosh, kid, my shoulders are killing me," Jack told Cason when he came up from under water.
"Rematch!" Aiden declared.
"Find someone else's shoulders, kiddo," I chuckled. "Mine need a break."
Quinn let Aiden get on her shoulders and Cason got back on Jack's. I sat on the edge of the pool and Jill and Grams sat on either side of me while Cason and Aiden rematched.
"You having fun?" Grams asked.
I nodded. "Thank you both for letting me come."
"Brooke, I know we've had our differences, but I wouldn't leave you alone. You've shown me you're a good person," Jill said.
"I'll be so happy when you and Cason finally get together," Grams laughed.
I laughed and shook my head. "Funny."
"Oh, come on. We already said it'd happen, so it will. You're gonna be his wife. It's our job as family to pick out his one and we pick you," Grams said.
"Did his other girlfriends suck that bad?" I asked.
"He only had one other girlfriend," Jill said. "She was nice, but they were better as friends. Plus, she cheated on him with someone a little older. This was like a year or two ago, too. They didn't date too long. About five, six months."
"Y'all do know we're not dating right?" I checked.
"Yeah, but we're ready for it. Any day now," Grams smirked.
"I win!" Aiden cheered and we looked at him.
Cason came up, shaking his head. He clearly let his little brother win, but Aiden didn't know that.
"Hey," Cason swam up to me.
"That was sweet of you to let Aiden win," Jill said.
"I knew he'd just rematch if I won," he laughed.
"I'm gonna call Candi and see if they're almost here," Grams stood.
"I'm gonna go get water," Jill said and left.
"Having fun?" Cason asked me, pulling himself up so he was sitting beside me.
"Yeah, are you?" I asked.
"Yeah," he laughed. "It's always a blast."
"So who's Candi?" I asked.
"My bio aunt. Aunt Quinn is married in. Jack is my mom's brother and Candi is my mom's sister. Candi and her husband recently divorced and she has custody of their son, Henry. He's... thirteen? I think," Cason laughed.
I nodded. "Got it."
"There's gonna be a water balloon fight after we eat," he said. "And if everyone is still up for it, we play pool volleyball."
I chuckled and nodded. "This time, you're on my team."
"Deal," he smiled.
"Hey, Cas, come see!" Gramps waved him over and he went up to him.
I looked away and Quinn swam up to me.
"You like him, don't you?" She said.
"What makes you think that?" I asked.
"How you two look at each other. Him chasing you and picking you up. There's obviously something there," she said.
"Well, we're just gonna have to see," I laughed.
"He's already made tons of moves on you. I would've thought him picking you up earlier was the dead giveaway," she laughed.
"I just haven't had a real boyfriend before. So I don't know what to look for exactly," I shrugged.
"Well, he's dropping all the hints. So are you. Just go for it," she smiled and swam away.

Candi and Henry showed up and Henry was tall for thirteen. They were pretty nice. Candi's divorce showed on her face. The worry lines, all of it. The pain in her eyes because she obviously missed him. Henry seemed a bit angry about it, but he was a nice kid.
Lunch was ready and it was the classic hamburgers and hot dogs. Everyone made their plates and found somewhere to sit outside. I loved it here. I never wanted to leave. Everyone loved each other and it was a happy environment.
Cason sat beside me and looked at me.
"What?" I laughed.
He shook his head. "Nothing."
I shrugged and laughed. I looked up and Quinn wiggled he eyebrows and I snickered. She clearly knew something I didn't.
"Hey, so what happened?" Henry sat in front of me and Cason, pointing to my arm.
"Car accident," I said.
"That sucks," he said. "How much longer do you have to wear that thing?"
"About four or five more weeks," I shrugged.
"Cool. You gonna eat that?" He pointed to the burger on my plate.
"Nah, here," I handed it over to him.
"Why'd you give up your food?" Cason asked as his cousin walked away.
"Because I already ate two hotdogs," I laughed. "And I'm tired."
"Here," Cason grabbed a towel and wrapped me in it, since I was still a little wet.
"Thanks," I said, closing my eyes and put my head on his shoulder.
I heard someone whisper something like "Get her to bed." Cason led me to my room and tried to shake me awake.
"Mmm," I said, eyes barely open.
"You need to shower. Or at least change into dry clothes," he said.
I forced my eyes open and hugged Cason. He chuckled and it brought a small smile to my lips.
"I have an idea," he said, sitting me down and leaving for a second and coming back with one of his shirts and sweatpants. "Put these on over your swimsuit."
"You sure?" I asked.
"Yeah, that's why they call it a washer and dryer," he chuckled.
I threw on the oversized shirt and the sweatpants. Cason's scent brought me comfort and he looked at me. He sat in front of me, grabbing my hand with both of his.
"You okay? You got some sun," he said.
"I don't feel it," I said.
"It's not a lot. Just a little on your nose and cheeks," he said.
"I'm sleepy," I mumbled.
"Okay," he said, helping me find where the covers started so I could crawl under them. He hugged me and the only reason I didn't pull him to fall asleep with me, was because his family was expecting him back. He looked even better this time shirtless than the first time. I was just glad my eyes were closed so he couldn't make fun of me for checking him out.
"Cas," I muttered.
"Yeah," he said.
"Thank you," I said.
He just laughed and closed the door, indicating he'd left.

When I woke up, I looked down and remembered that I was wearing Cason's clothes. I brought the top of the shirt to my nose and still had Cason's scent baked into it. I got up and made my way to the living room, where everyone was sitting and winding down. I was still a bit groggy, so when I casually sat by Cason and snuggled into him, everyone just smiled.
Cason went with it, thankfully. He put an arm around me, holding me in place. "Are you sleepwalking?"
"Maybe a little," I muttered.
"Do you wanna go back to bed?" He asked, petting my hair.
"No, I'm good here," I said, as he draped a blanket on me.
Everyone just laughed and shook their heads at us. I laid my head in Cason's lap and tried to keep up with the family's conversation, but I was too out of it. All I could think about was how relaxed I was. How Cason's hand was gently petting my hair.
Everyone was tired at this point. Food and swimming did that to people. They popped in The Blind Side and we all watched it. Cason had readjusted himself so that he was laying down, me against his front, facing away from him. He had his arm wrapped around my waist, that had my back against his chest. He kissed the side of my head and I let my eyes flutter to a close yet again.
