-Chapter 21-
My brown eyes looked up at the starry sky, reflecting the twinkles and sparkles of the bright stars. I held my arms closely to my body for warmth, a light breeze catching on. Which didn't surprise me, we were in the middle on no where.
I sat on the cold, hard ground. A bit away from Sunstreaker and Sideswipe that had fallen into recharge not too long ago. They had been waiting, I had been waiting, for that com-link. The com-link that could tell us that we could return, that everyone was okay.
The frown on my lips deepened. Short blonde hair rustling gently, I sighed softly to myself. It was so quiet, so peaceful. I almost didn't want it to go away, to hold onto it, so it didn't just pass me by in a flash. I found myself missing the noise, the constant shouts, yells, from soldiers. Missing Bumblebees beeps and whirls, Arcees' positive energy...,But most of all Optimus.
God, I missed him so much and I couldn't wrap my head around it. I barely knew him. Yeah I knew WHAT he is. A Cybertronian mech, the leader of the Autobots, the last Prime. Yet, I didn't know WHO he is.
So why the hell did I miss the flamed bot so much?.
Wishing I had someone to talk to, I scowled at the sandy flooring. Someone that would understand, give me advice...Someone I trust more than the world. Someone I knew like the back of my hand, but I knew no one anymore. I lost everyone I knew and loved. They are all gone, and I can't get them back, no matter how much I wanted them.
I didn't have a someone.
"I don't have anything...", I muttered quietly, under my breathe. I couldn't help the tears that escaped my eyes. I felt...so alone. In a world that to me, was SO big.
"You have us.", a voice from behind me spoke softly, making me jump slightly.
I wiped my moist and slightly red cheeks quickly. I paused to calm my breathing, before I looked over my shoulder to see Sunstreaker transform quietly and smoothly, to roll beside me. Looking down at me with less stern optics.
I shook my head, rolling my eyes at him in disbelief, "You hate my guts Sunstreaker.", I mumbled quietly, but I knew his audio receptors would have easily picked it up.
"Who said that?.", Sunstreaker asked me, raising an optic ridge is question, wanting an answer.
I opened my mouth, to close it. My eyes fell to the floor. I couldn't remember a time, when anyone said he hated me, but it felt like he did. We didn't get along and we both knew it. I drew a random pattern in the sand with my index finger. Not sure on what to say to him.
"Hate is a strong word.", Sunstreaker crouched, staring at me, "We may not see eye to eye at all, but I guarantee I do not hate you, Cathrine."
I slowly looked at the golden mech with a slightly surprised facial expression, "Really?.", I double checked, not sure if the damn bot was fooling with me or not.
"Really.", His optics shifted to the side, "I honestly thought you hated my circuits.", Sunstreaker hummed softly, "A lot of humans do. So it wouldn't surprise me if you do too."
I shook my head, "I don't hate you. I barely know you. How can I hate someone I don't know?.", I questioned Sunstreaker quietly, looking off in the distance.
It went quiet for a bit, before I spoke up once again with some guilt, "Sorry I woke you up..."
Sunstreaker looked at me full on, "Who said I ever went into recharge?.", he said sassily, shifting slightly to get more comfortable.
I sighed deeply, all guilt demolishing in a flash. Classic Sunstreaker. Makes you feel guilty to not giving a shit. I looked up at him again, "Why aren't you sleeping?. Sideswipe obviously is.".
"I could ask you the same question.", Sunstreaker avoided the question smoothly, and fired it straight back at me. I was starting to think he wasn't only fast at racing, but at replying smoothly too.
"It was too quiet.", I admitted shyly, getting ready for the mech to laugh at me. My excuse sounding lame as pit.
Sunstreaker looked at me for a bit, "Yeah. It is.". His gaze went to the stars, deep in thought. I stared at the mech looking rather shocked at the response, but rolled with it. We were finally having a decent conversation for once, I wasn't going to ruin it and by the sounds of it, he wasn't going to either.
"I'm missing Ratchets wrenches hitting me in the helm, Jazzs' gossip from the base, Prime throwing us in the brig, Ironhide swearing his aft off about something. Wheeljacks experiments exploding...", Sunstreaker started to comment, but his sentence trailed off, "It just doesn't feel the same without them. Everyone of them has a part, you know?.".
I nodded, "So do you two.", I told him softly, "Without you guys, I don't think anyone would be able to have a good laugh, or something to surprise them."
I looked up at the stars with Sunstreaker, "-I'm still trying to figure my part out.", I admitted to the golden mech, "-I'm kind of starting to think, I never will."
"No, you will.", Sunstreaker told me, "I already have."
I looked back at Sunstreaker almost in a blink of an eye, "You have?.".
"Yes, we all have. You just have to figure it out Cathrine."
Sighing softly, while placing my hands in my lap. I stared back up at the sky with a bland expression.
My part...
What was my part?...
I was no soldier, no mechanic, sure as hell not a medic. I couldn't shoot a gun if my life depended on it, or be able to throw a decent punch. The best I could do was yank some hair like a pussy. Heck I barely run without tripping over air. I had no special skills at all. I couldn't transform into a giant robot, or jump out of planes. I'm good at pissing people off...does that count?. No. Of course not. I wasn't very helpful at all. Besides getting in the way. I should be working my life away in a damn cafe, serving coffee and tea to elderly people, or mothers on a gossip outing.
Yet, Here I was, in the middle of fuck knows where. Sitting next a giant robot, and one was sleeping not too far away from me. Doing nothing with my life...so what part did I have?. Must be a pretty damn shitty part.
Staring into the many stars, I spotted one shoot through the sky. "Oh, look Sunstreaker a shooting star!.", I randomly blabbered out, pointing at it, "Quick make a wish!."
"Uh...that's not a shooting star!.", Sunstreaker yelled out, quickly rolling to his full height, his tires skidded across the dirt. Creating dust in the air. I coughed slightly.
"Decepticon!.", Sideswipe hissed out, headlights to his vehicle mode turning on brightly, blinding me fro a few seconds.
Sideswipes engine started with a loud growl. I yelped when I was scooped up in warm metal servos, before my world spun. I made a 'oof!' sound when I landed in a leather drivers seat. Seat-belt strapping me in tightly.
"Hold on tight!."
I didn't hesitate one bit, to clutch onto the leather seat, as Sunstreaker sped over 150, the speed went even higher and higher.
The sound of a jet was heard, before I yelped when a jet flew pass the window, spinning through the air swiftly, to collide into Sideswipe whom was in front of us. Sparks flew into the air, paint-jobs scratching, armor denting. They both transformed out of impact. Starscream landed on his clawed feet easily, skidding across the dirt, before firing a missile at us, that Sunstreaker swiftly dodged with a swerve, tires skidding. The smell of burnt rubber was easily in the air.
Sideswipe flipped to his wheels, to headbutt Starscream harshly, making the Decepticon stagger back a little, before throwing a punch to his helm. That successfully collided. Leaving a rather large dent in the seekers helm.
Sunstreaker kept driving forward at a fast speed, not slowing down one bit, but a red car soon skidded onto the road swiftly, a decepticon symbol spotted on its frame. Flashing its headlights, it sped straight at us, blocking our only path, as Sideswipe and Starscream faced it off. Explosions and sparks flying everywhere, followed by battle-cries and shouts.
"Lets play chicken Autobot!.", the vehicle snarled out the challenge, speeding up.
"Sunstreaker...", I whimpered out, as we got closer and closer. My heart sped up, I could hear it thrumming in my ears. Oh shit, we are going to hit him!. Fear ran through my body.
"SUNSTREAKER!.", I screamed out, shielding my face with my arms instinctively, eyes squeezing shut.
Metal transforming was heard, and I screamed again, throat killing me. My eyes snapped open to watch Sunstreaker do a flip in the air, his golden paint scraping against the red paint-job. Wind rushed through my hair, and I felt my stomach drop at the feeling of falling. The feeling all to familiar.
I yelled when Sunstreaker lost grip of me, when a explosion went off near us. I was able to see the widening of his blue optics, fear spotted in them. As his digits brushed against me in a tept to grab me, but the tempt failed.
"Cathrine!", Sunstreaker was able to yelp out-
-Before we both collided against earths ground with a loud...
Thud.
