-Chapter 24-
(Writing - Flashback.)
The scenery flashed before my eyes. The plasma gunshot still echoed in my ears, and the blinding light never faded. I didn't comprehend how I was on earths ground, my body ached with agony and I just felt like giving up right then and there.
It just felt like I was already dead.
I couldn't keep my eyes open, so I closed them...
Everything seemed so quiet the second I did so, maybe it was a sign that I was going. I was passing on. I was going to see my family again, but thoughts raced through my mind. How I gave up so easily, but then again I fought so hard...I really did...
Well I think I did...
---
"C'mon mum you can do it.", I told the woman that now sat in a wheelchair, "You can still do things you know..."
"Cathrine. I can't walk, ever again. How can I still do things?.", Mum had snapped back at me which had made me flinch. Her face fell into her hands, as a loud sob escaped her. She slowly raised her head back up to inhale deeply,
My brown eyes stared sadly at the once strong woman in front of me. It hurt a lot to witness the person you look up to in such pain and sorrow. I wish I could take it all away, swap places....But I knew I couldn't....
"Luke needs you mum, I need you...", I claimed, crouching to look my mother in the eyes. I moved the blonde strands that fell in the way of my eyesight quickly, "Don't give up."
The teary eyes I had stared into, slowly formed into a determined stare.
"You two children are my world, my babies. I may give up on myself, but I will never give up on you two."
---
I forced my eyes back open at that, to find I was staring up into the night sky. I forced myself to roll onto my stomach, even though my body protested greatly. Metal clashing against each other, sparks flying. The shouts, the screams, the battle cries, I heard them all.
I felt the blood on my face now dry. I pushed myself off the sandy surface with little strength, I tried my best to spit out the sand that had got into my mouth. I stumbled onto my feet, swaying madly. I tried my best not to fall back to the ground, cause I knew if I did I wouldn't be able to get back up again.
I looked around slowly, My eyes dull as I did so. My brain slowly processing what was going on around me. I squinted my eyes, trying to see through all the dust and smoke. I could make out the large shadowy figures fighting, multiple. So I assumed that Optimus obviously had back-up.
The blur of gold caught my eyes, as I now found myself simply staring at the golden Autobot twin, known as Sunstreaker...race towards me whilst transforming his hand into a plasma gun and firing at a nearby Decepticon.
"I found Cathrine!. Repeat, I have eyes on the girl!", I heard him yell, probably over the comm-link to the other Autobots. I tried to move towards him, but I was frozen in place, my body refused to move anymore.
My heart raced at the sight of Sunstreaker rushing towards me, for my heart to completely stop when the golden bot was attacked, and slammed to the ground by Knockout. I didn't know what to do, I couldn't help. For heavens sake, I am only human. I can't take down a freaking robotic alien.
"Cathrine what are you doing!?, Run!.", Sunstreaker yelled out desperately, "Move!, Go!. Fragging run girl!. Don't just stand there!. Do you want to die!?, Run!.".
With that I snapped out of my frozen state that I was in and found myself sprinting across the sandy battlefield, arms shielding my head, as I dodged the gunfire. Explosions going off around me, which nearly made me fly off my feet. I could still hear the shouts of Sunstreaker telling me to run echo within my head. As a haunting reminder that they feared my death is coming if they didn't get me out of here soon, as much as I feared it myself.
-but what I feared the most, was Optimus being offlined because of me.The last time I saw him, was when I witnessed Megatron fire his gun. I didn't know if he was badly injured, dying, or was already dead. Heck, he could be all okay and I wouldn't know about it.
I ran around the metal legs that were in my way, passing Ironhide whom grunted loudly whilst flinging a cat-like bot across the desert battlefield easily. The weapon specialists optics snapped onto me, and I yelped when my feet left the earths ground.
"Easy femme. I'm helpin' ya.", Ironhide spoke gruffly, he held me in one hand, as his other arm was pointed outwards with his glowing cannon spinning rapidly, which made a loud whirring sound.
"Prime, I got the girl.", Ironhide spoke outloud, his optics glanced to me, before they averted to the battlefield, keeping alert. 'Hide moved his arm about, whilst checking for any Decepticons in sight. I could easily hear the sound of fighting, Ironhides metal digits had blocked my view of anything going on, as he shielded me from anything that could harm me the best he possibly could.
"Hold on!", Ironhide suddenly yelled to me and before I knew it, I found gears shifting and metal spinning. I yelped rather loudly when I landed on black leather seating so suddenly. A seatbelt strapping around my waist in a secure and protective gesture. I held onto the backseat the best I could when Ironhide drove harshly through the sand at a rapid speed.
I watched Ironhides radio glow brightly, many voices speaking through the speakers which belonged to many soldiers and Autobots that were out here fighting. I looked out the tinted windows when Ironhide halted and opened the passenger door- for Captain Lennox to jump in, sweaty and all.
"Hey kid, you look great.", Lennox panted out which made my eyes roll at his sarcasm, a small smile spreading onto my lips at that.
"Hey Will, not so bad for yourself.", I greeted back weakly which made William chuckle.
The passenger door slammed shut automatically once Will was belted in, "What's gonna happen now?...", I ask softly, afraid if I spoke any louder my voice will disappear on me again, I clutched my casted arm and looked between William and Ironhides radio.
"We are...retreating.", Ironhide said slowly, obviously not liking the idea of running away from the Decepticons. Which I could understand; he probably felt like a coward for doing so, which he could never be.
"Oh.", was all I said when I spotted Sunstreaker racing on the left side of Ironhide, I smiled at that. It was good to know the idiot was okay, I just hoped Sideswipe wasn't too badly injured and will be awake soon, but the main bot on my mind right now was Optimus Prime.
"Yeah, our one and only goal was to retrieve you and get you back to safety ASAP.", William decided to speak up, the rifle in his hands now rested on his lap, " We had found The Limbo Twins energon signals luckily once we dealt with the Decepticons back at the base. Sideswipe is still in stasis.", William explained to me casually, as Ironhide did a sharp turn in the sand. Sunstreaker and now Bumblebee following us.
"Who is with us?.", I fired out another question, "Just you guys?."
"Prime, Sunstreaker while his twin is getting treated by Ratchet. Uh, Bumblebee, Ironhide, Me and my team.", William replied, his eyes glancing into the review mirror, while my eyes lit up at the mention of Optimus. So he was okay?.
"I think its safe to say that the Decepticons also retreated.", William quickly added, to look out the window and give a thumbs up to Bumblebee.
I nodded and now remained quiet. I wondered if Tyler and Noah were alright, as their names popped up in my mind. I frowned at the memory of them making sure I was protected and here I am. Injured, bloody, smelly, hungry, dehydrated and in the middle of a battlefield of Decepticons and Autobots. The very thing they had tried to get me away from. It was as if the bad luck followed me where ever I go.
Ironhide grunted soon after silence filled the air, which grabbed my attention. Well I think that was the point. Since the black mech finally spoke when I looked up at the radio.
"Lets get you home kid.", was all the Weapon Specialist muttered out, before going quiet again.
I sighed and looked down, as a depressing thought entered my mind.
' What home?. '
