Chapter One New Beginnings
+
"ARE YOU SERIOUS right now, or is this a joke?" Jordan Parrish ruffled a hand through his hair. His little sister bowed her head down, not bothering to answer him. He groaned, taking her suitcases and moving the next to the couch in his small loft.

"Anna, you can't just crash here! Dad will eventually find out and kill the both of us," He continued. "I can't go back to school either!" She snapped up, her face immediately gasping once the words escaped her mouth. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to yell."

"I just, I don't know what to do, Jor. I'm really scared. Y-you haven't been home in so long, and things have really changed since Mom left," Anna looked back down.

"If Dad finds out that I got kicked out of boarding school, he'll kill me."

"And for good reason! Dad pays monthly tuition and still asks me for a couple hundred once in a while to be able to afford it!" Parrish frustratedly held his hands out. Anna's eyes began to water, and Parrish immediately felt bad for snapping so harshly on her.

Granted, she was right. Their father had changed ever since their mother left. It was exactly one of the reasons why Anna begged to go to boarding school in the first place – to get away, just like Jordan did.

Reluctantly, Jordan scratched the back of his head, "Just – You can crash on the couch for the night. Tomorrow I'll call and see if we can get you back in, okay?" He asked, causing Anna to smile at him brightly. She gave no answer, hugging him tightly.

"Thank you, thank you, thank you. I missed you so much, you don't even understand," Anna let out, making her brother chuckle.

"Bathroom's next to my room, I don't have much food in the fridge but the grocery store –"

"Is down the street, to my left. I remember," Anna recalled, referring to the one time she was allowed to come home and visit. It was shortly after Jordan had picked up this job, and moved all the way to California from their old family home in Virginia.

"I have work in the morning, and you'll be coming to the station," Jordan spoke sternly, making Anna nod. "So be ready, get to bed soon."

She smiled at him one last time, before taking a seat on the couch and trying to get comfy. "Goodnight, thank you," leaned back, making him chuckle. "You can have a pillow or two, you know."

She got up, shaking her head with a laugh. "Yeah, forgot about that."

The morning sun shinned brightly through the living room windows, not that it was a beautiful sight for Anna Parrish.

She hated mornings ever since she was a child. Especially days where she could just tell, it was going to suck.

Her stomach would just fill with butterflies and she just knew that something was wrong – no matter what it was. And anytime she tried to guess, she couldn't narrow it down.

She ignored the feelings, and began to get ready for the day ahead of herself. She was not going back to her father's. And although she really didn't want to tell him the truth of what happened, Jordan was eventually going to find out.

Jordan jogged down his hallway lightly, in a pair of sweats and his deputy t-shirt. He held a coffee-filled tumblr and his own cell phone, "C'mon kiddo. Get up."

Anna groaned, "Five more minutes, please. It's earlier than I've ever had to get up for school."

"Well maybe you should go back," He chuckled, earning himself a dirty look from his little sister. "Seriously, you can't drop out of your junior year. So either we get you back somehow, or–"

"Or I can stay here and live with you," She smiled brightly, her voice questioning. "I know there's a high school near by. I'm sure they wouldn't mind a new student."

"I'm sure Dad would mind," Jordan frowned at her. He was baffled at the fact she would even ask – He wasn't fit to raise his sister. He was barley just getting by himself.

"Please, Jordan. Just try. I cannot go back to Dad's house."

He groaned, "No promises."

"Now get up, I'm gonna be late for work," He clapped his hands together. Anna nodded, making her way up from his couch and crouching down to her over filled suitcase. She pulled out the first two items and headed to the bathroom to get dressed.

The car ride to the station was a shorter one, luckily. There wasn't much talking, and it gave Anna relief, for the time being. She could hide what was scaring her the most — home.

"It's a lot smaller in here than I remember," Anna remarked, dodging a officer as she walked behind her brother into his work. "Yeah," He nodded, "We hired a lot more people after an incident happened last winter."

"It was that bad?" Anna's eyes widened. "This town's so small, I would've never thought of something that big to make the sheriff department overfilled." Parrish sighed, looking over to her. He arrived at his desk, setting down his bag and taking a seat. "I-it was a local girl. She would've been in your grade this year."

He looked down, "Her name was Allison. She died in a uh, in a robbery."

Anna pressed her lips together, baffled at the idea that someone so young, so close to her age could just pass away so quickly. She let out a breathe, now leaning over her brother's desk. "Is there anything I can do?" She asked, although she realized she'd probably just be sitting around the office all day.

When her brother shook his head, Anna rolled her eyes. Boring, She thought to herself. "Unless you wanna call dad, no."

Without a thought of it, she ignored him and grabbed a stool from nearby, "I guess I can find something to do."

Around 3, Anna was dreading the rest of her brother's shift. The day was long, and boring, and she couldn't help but just sit there. After Jordan came back from his patrol duty more than annoyed, he'd been stationed in the finger printing room for over an hour, and Anna wasn't sure what to do with herself.

Until two boys her age walked in.

She recognized the lankier boy. The two met last time she came to visit – he was the sheriff's son. Although the name couldn't come to her. Instead of embarrassing herself trying to come up with a name, she sat up in her chair and smiled brightly as they walked by, "Hey! Nice to meet y-"

The boys sped past her, not even bothering to look, which made her huff aloud. "Rude." She mumbled to herself, crossing her arms.

"Anna!" Her brother called, emerging from the same room the boys had headed into, "Hey, I think I might be here awhile. You can head home, if you want."

Jordan placed the keys down in front of her, and she frowned, "You didn't even get a chance to call the schools or talk."

"We can later," He sighed, scratching the back of his head, "I swear it hasn't been this busy in so long. I'm sorry." Anna smiled, "It's okay. I swear."

"Plus the longer you put it off, the less school I have to attend," She smiled, and the eldest Parrish rolled his eyes. He fluffed up her hair, making Anna groan. "Well, little sis, if you're staying around make yourself useful."

Her eyebrows scrunched together, as she looked up to him. "Try to stop by Beacon Hills' High School and see if they'll take you. You can't just stay at home and for now, we can see this as n option. But we'll talk later – and call Dad!" He exclaimed, nodding towards the key chain.

Her face lit up, and she nodded to him. "An option is better than none." Parrish smiled, "I'm sure they're still open. The principal called not to long ago about the Sheriff's son, so you have a pretty good chance. If not, just head home."

"Of course," Anna cheered, standing up. She gave her brother a quick hug goodbye and exited the station.

Anna parked her brother's car in the seemingly empty lot, that is, until an old, rusty blue jeep took the spot directly next to her.

She narrowed her eyes, wondering why they had to pull up next to her, considering there were so many open spots to begin with. She grabbed her cross body bag and took the keys from the ignition.

The sheriff's son came out of the jeep, holding a silver bat. A smaller, strawberry blonde truffled behind him. "Hey!" He yelled, catching her attention. Anna raised an eyebrow at the boy as he jogged over to her side.

"Hi, um, Stilinski," She spoke awkwardly, staring at the boy. His eyes narrowed, "Have we met before?"

"I think awhile ago. I'm Anna Parrish," She explained. "Oh! Oh I know! You're Jordan's sister," Stiles smiled, clapping his hands together. "Okay, nice to see you again. But, uh – School's closed, so um, you gotta go," He began, making Anna furrow her brows.

"What? Why? I have to get papers to transfer–"

The strawberry blonde walked ahead of Stiles, taking her wrist lightly, "Not tonight sweetheart," She snapped, taking the Parrish girl off guard. Lydia's hand immediately flung back, as she gasped aloud. Her eyes widened, making Anna frown, "I-I gotta go. I'm sorry for the trouble."

She jogged back to her car — leaving the two completely confused.
