~Chapter 6~
You sat on your bed, a numbness paralyzing you as you stared at a blank television. Since what happened, you hadn't slept. You neglected to eat the food you'd snatched and you hadn't even spoken to Flowey when you arrived back in tears. The conversation replayed in your mind with horrifying reality.
The look in his eyes, that look of pure betrayal, it was terrible. In a matter of second you took a strong, dependable monster and tore him down with a few words. Silent tears littered your face.
A quiet tap shook the room and you jumped. "Daaarrrrlllliiiinnngg~ rise and shine beauty! You should be getting home. I don't wanna keep you away too long." Mettaton called.
"Home?" You muttered, drowsiness momentarily silencing any common sense. "Wait, no!"
You launched up and ran to the door, rubbing away your tears haphazardly. "Mettaton wait!" You called, falling out of your room and nearly knocking him over.
He turned and his display turned to a question mark. "What is it darling?"
Straightening your posture, you faced him. "I, uh, wanted to know if I could stay here... like maybe in a room or something?" You stuttered, quickly forming an explanation. "You see, I live really deep in the forest around Snowdin so-"
"Okay." He said cooly.
Your eyes widened. "Really?!"
He gave you the thumbs up. "Of course! I have more than enough room in this penthouse alone. In fact, why don't you just move into that room? It'd be so fabulous to have one of my stars on hand. A celebrity guest always makes for more views. We'll have to set some rules but I'm sure you can oblique just fine."
You nodded excitedly. "Oh Thank You sir! I promise I won't be much trouble!"
He waved a hand. "I never expected you to be. If you'd like, take today to go collect your belongings and 'move in.'Do you need any gold?"
"N- "
Flowey snapped you leg with a vine sharply from out of sight. Clearly, he hadn't bothered to get any gold for you, or blew it all on the disguise. Growling at yourself, you smiled sheepishly.
"Um, yes please. I barely had enough for the trip to hotlands."
Mettaton rolled back towards you and handed you a hot pink, shining card. It was similar to a debit or credit card, but had no scanning strip. "What's this?" You asked.
"It's my pay card darling! Whenever you use that card at checkout, all charges go to my account. Buy yourself what you need. Don't worry, I have more than enough money."
You smiled gratefully. "Thank you Mettaton!"
"You're welcome. Now hurry on! I have a show in a few minutes so I can't stay and chat. Goodbye Snowflake!"
I took you a moment to remember your name. Blinking of few time, your lips picked into a tight 'oh' shape, then fading to a smile. "Oh, yeah, Goodbye Mettaton!"
He wheeled away leaving you and your slab of plastic. You felt guilty for asking so much but Flowey assured you that this needed to happen if I was truly going to disappear successfully. After checking your room again and making sure all your possession were stashed well, you dressed and left, Flowey hidden within the layers of fabric of your hooded, blue dress.
You jogged down the stairs quickly, humming last nights' "Papermoon" in your head. Flowey was quiet as you moved about the crowded hotel/apartments. It didn't take long to find the exit and head in the direction of Snowdin. At this point in the time line, the famous 'Mettaton Mall' was only in blueprints, so you were only left with the second best option, the bunnies store in Snowdin.
Though the store was small and family owned, it held many products and you had always visited it often. Flowey had bought the majority of your costume from the store. The river guide made the trip short, rifling off ominous lines like, "A mask means nothing to those who mean you best." or "To change fate will mean sacrifice unimaginable at the beginning of a plot."
You ignored his tales, knowing that they meant something about you but you were determined in your ways. As you arrived at the store, Flowey perched himself behind your ear, reminding you of necessities and making outfit suggestions based on your Snowflake personality. For an hour you deliberated what you needed and didn't, trying to spend as little money as possible. It all managed to fit within three bags, making you smile. Flowey complained bitterly about how you were so conservative, but you waved them off with a giggle. Swinging you bags over your shoulder, you exited the store.
Before you even heard the crunch of snow beneath your boots, you collided with a small person, knocking you off balance. You stumbled backwards, stabling yourself on a display then looking at the other participant.
Your eyes grew as the most familiar sweater met your gaze, followed by the innocent eyes of your adoptive brother.
"Oh, little Frisk! Surprise seeing you here!" You chirped nervously. "I'm sorry for running into you."
"He's fine Snowflake, just be on your way." Announced a cold tone.
You froze faster than ice as you watched Sans step inside the store from behind Frisk. Frisk seemed to be relatively friendly towards you, but Sans seemed as though he wanted to slowly flood your veins with poisonous.
"H-Hello Mr. Sans." You quivered, bowing your head. You shoved your way out, avoiding Sans' gaze and muttering a quiet goodbye to Frisk.
Your image was swept away in the sheets of snow, effectively camouflaging you from sight. You sat on the frost-bitten fountain in the center of the square and curled into a sitting ball.
"What are you doing you idiot?!" Flowey hissed.
"Shut up." You muttered. "I don't want to be yelled at right now."
"Well pout inside numbskull! You'll freeze out here!"
"So what... if I die I don't have to be here anymore. I won't be a problem."
"But if Sans find you limp in the snow and takes you back, he might figure out it's you and try to revive you!"
Your throat collapsed on itself and you shot up, directing yourself to the next beat place to mope about your life. Somewhere with alcohol.
As soon as the door opened, you were blasted with heat. Grillby's heat bounced through you, already thawing your frigid limbs. You sat at the same stool you always did and dumped your bags next to you on the floor. Thudding your head on the counter, you spoke in Grillby's direction.
"Can I please get some alcohol? Anything fruity and strong will do." You groaned.
Grillby chuckled, setting a glass in front of you. "So you're Snowflake huh? Funny to find you here." He teased.
You giggled softly. His friendly demeanor always made you feel better. You drained your glass swiftly and met his gaze. "My life is really fucked up Grillby."
He rolled his firey orbs at you. "I'm limiting you to two non-virgin drinks." He warned. "You had you're debut yesterday. You don't need your reputation ruined already."
You nodded, even I you wanted to consume every drop of alcohol in the facility. "Can I get a burg and fries too? I didn't eat last night." You asked.
"Sure thing. I'll be right on it."
You sat and waited. After a few seconds of nonfulfilling silence, you reached into your bag and felt around. Sadly, you remembered you had to dump your old phone. A low growl expressed your annoyance and you instead grabbed a pen from Grillby's counter. On the back of a receipt, you began to doodle.
You weren't the best art so you didn't pay much attention. When a piping hot plate of food arrived in front of you. You set the pen aside and chowed down.
"Wow, you really were hungry." Someone cooed.
"Well yeah. I got interrupted and lost my appetite."
"Well I'm sorry I spooked you so bad."
Ears perking, you raised your gaze. The chair right next to you sat vacant, but it was soon filled by Frisk. You face reddened as Sans took the chair felt next to him.
You hid your recently topped alcohol and let your eyes fall to your plate. Flowey, finally deciding to cut in to your life once again, tightened his grip on your leg. You knew you had to leave. Gently, you knocked off his vines and grit your teeth.
"Hello again Snowflake." Sans said cooly.
Without even meeting his eyes, you could feel his bitter looks. "Hello Gaster!Sans." You said quietly.
"Hi Snowflake!" Frisk said more warmly.
You looked at Frisk fondly and smiled. "Hey there Frisk. It's nice to see you."
He grinned. "I didn't expect a star like you to eat here! Not that it's not awesome here, but I expected Mettaton to only let you eat his food."
You laughed gently. "I knew that the stores were better here, and I needed to grab some things for my new place."
"New place?"
You nodded. "Mettaton's letting me move in with him."
Gaster!Sans choked on his water. "What?!"
You nodded, feeling a sense of satisfaction. "Yes S- uh, Gaster!Sans. My last accommodations were inconvenient. This will be a great opportunity for me."
"Where did you use to live?" Frisk asked.
You paled. "Well, I actually used to live really deep in the forest around here. I came out for auditions."
"You weren't here last time..." He muttered.
You pretended not to hear him say that and waved down Grillby. "Excuse me Grillby? May I please have this to go?" You asked.
"What?!" Frisk gasped.
"What's the rush Kitten? You haven't even finished your drink?" He smirked cockney, adding, "Didn't really peg ya as an alcohol drinker by the way."
You grit your teeth and grabbed your poorly hidden drink. Keeping Gaster!Sans' gaze, you threw back the entire, might you acknowledge quite tall, drink. "There goes the drink." You muttered.
Grillby handed you a box silently and you nodded in his direction. Quickly you packed your leftovers and tucked it safely into one of your bags. You placed a pile of gold and collected your bags. "Sorry Frisk, but I remembered I have to go somewhere." You lied bluntly.
Gaster!Sans seemed to he satisfied with this but you didn't feel like snapping. You could hear Frisk begin to lecture Gaster!Sans but it sounded fuzzy. As the door closed behind you, Flowey appeared on your shoulder.
"What was that?! You let him egg you on!" He hissed.
"I wasn't trying to let him do it but... Sans just does. I couldn't snap back because that isn't who 'Snowflake' is."
"Shut up! Someone could hear you! What's wrong with you right now?!"
You glared at him. "Nothing. I just feel a little dizzy. And it's hard to see with all this snow."
You waved your arms wildly for effect and Flowey slipped back. "Uh, it's barely flurries right now."
You looked at Flowey and furrowed your brow. "What? No... it, it's pounding."
Your head spun and you held your forehead. You tried to make a few more steps but soon stumbled. "Oh shit..."
"What's wrong?!" Flowey asked.
"I tossed back that drink to fast. I can't do that."
"You're drunk?!"
You shook your head. "No, I'm just tipsy, but my body doesn't process this so well."
You got a little farther by leaning against a wall, but fell on your face. Your bags' contents fell out and Flowey collected them for you. "Come on (Y/N)! We just have to get to the River! It's, ah! There's someone coming."
"What..."
Speech continued around you but you couldn't process it well enough with your face in the snow. "Flowey wh-"
A hard vine whipped against your head and the last thing you felt was your body lifted.
