~Chapter 8~
You closed the door behind you with finality and sunk to your knees. Your chest trembled as you broke into tears, sobbing into the palms of your hands. The room to which you just moved into was shrouded in only the pained cries you released. "(Y/N)? Are you okay?" Flower asked gently.
"Oh yeah Flowey! I'm just doing just dandy!" You muttered sarcastically. "I just had to rip out my own heart for the eighth time since I've come to this universe."
He caressed your arm gently, doing his best to comfort you in your emotional state. You shook gently as you tried to sniffle your way to calm. "It was hard enough when I found he could remember. NOW I can't even retreat to my own mind because the doctor has ways of getting in there too! How am I gonna dissolve away if they're being so.... so... caring! Why can't they just understand I'm doing this for them?!"
Flowey smiled and sat on top of your knees, drawing your puffy-eyed attention to him. "I know how you feel, but you have to power through it. It's hard to disappear beyond a new identity but you will with time and you'll be able to live with your friends as the new you! It won't be too long for the doc to give up on your mind if you don't leave any breadcrumbs for him to follow!"
You snorted. "You make it sounds easy. You can't just shut someone out! ESPECIALLY Gaster!" You felt something click within your mind but you couldn't grasp what it meant. Ignoring it, you continued on. "Not only does Gaster have almost instant access to my head, but he can hold the door open as well and let other's in!"
"It's not an invitation, it's a notification. Sans and Papyrus can enter of their own abilities."
"Fuck off Gaster! I'm trying to explain to Flowey how you cheat at this! And it's not even that, he also...."
It didn't take long for you to realize he was at it again. You quickly hid your vision in the palms of yours hands and focused your thoughts on meeting Gaster in your head so he wouldn't see glimpses of Snowflake. Upon entering, you saw Gaster standing confused at the sounds of a million thoughts at once. All around you boomed the distractions that you had programmed into yourself as a child. They very same distractions you thought you'd never use again when you went to the Underground that very first day. His eyes set on you from across the expanse.
"Why are you here again Doctor Gaster?" You asked coldly.
You watched as he moved closer. His body seemed more unstable than ever before, like static.
"Leave now... before I have to force you to."
"(Y/N), you are unstable. If you remain like this, you will only-"
"For someone so smart, you really are an idiot." You snapped. "From this point on, (Y/N) is dead. Come here again and all you'll find is this, this senseless noise clouding you. Do both you and your son a favor, and accept that simple fact. I've hidden myself beyond where your great minds can find me, so don't even try."
Your words were cold and articulate. You held yourself tall, though your hands trembled. The noise grew around you, horrible memories of shrieking accusation, but you felt no need of their effects. In that moment, you were hallow.
"(Y/N)... please listen to reaso-"
"I said LEAVE!!"
You yanked your arm through the air in a broad slice. Though you never made contact, you watched as Gaster was propelled back and dissolved into the black void beyond. You watched your soul tumble from your chest as your thoughts grew loud. You were deaf to the truth as you cradled your soul, the fractures of emotion fine on its damaged surface.
You opened your eyes and saw Flowey, eyes wide and leafs trembling. "(Y-Y/N)?! A-Are you okay? What just..."
You lifted your head, eyes shadowed in your silver bangs. A chilling grin on your face, you moved as though you were programmed. You lifted Flowey to his vase, then retrieved your bags. You removed you items and put them away accordingly, Flowey watching you the entire time.
"Um... (Y/N)?"
You turned, still smiling innocently, like Snowflake would. "(Y/N) is dead. You heard me right? Call me Snowflake."
Flowey was silent a moment, before his smile retook his face. "That's it! You've got it now! Don't even pay attention to those stupid skeletons! It's a new life!"
"Yeah! New clothes, new place, new me." You said quietly, hanging your clothing.
A tap came at the door and you turned as it opened, despite you not saying a word of consent. As you expected, Mettaton leaned into the doorway as he looked at you. "Hello Snowflake! How are you finding yourself? I see you got yourself a new wardrobe, and quite the fabulous one at that."
You smiled and nodded. "Yes, thank you very much." You fished his card from your dress pocket and handed them to him before returning to storing your clothing. "What is it that you needed?"
Mettaton's screen displayed an exclamation point, making you snicker. "How did you know I was going to ask something of you darling?" He asked.
"Let's just say I'm very good at reading people. So what is it that you need?"
He chuckled. "I just wanted to inform you that you'll be on tonight's show. Since you did so well yesturday, I just couldn't deprive our viewers of a chance to truly meet you!"
"Truly... meet me?"
"Yes darling! We'll be doing an interview, so be sure to wear something comfortable!"
"Oh! Okay... will do!"
"Wonderful! I'll come get you in an hour or so."
"See you then Mettaton."
With that, he closed the door and you let out a sigh. Flowey reappeared from his foliage camouflage and looked at you. "So, what now Snowflake?" He asked.
"Now? I unpack of course." You chirped. Your heart twisted but eventually you'd get used to it.

Your laughter was contagious as you broke into another fit of giggles. "Well, who's to blame me? I was always stubborn like that. Mother told me so. My siblings probably hated me for it too." You snickered.
Mettaton belted another infectious laugh, the crowd, which was already jam-packed, joining in. "Well, you can't expect much more from a sweetheart like you. Who else would sneak out to do charity work?! If this is your rebellious face I can't imagine what it would be like if you went wild."
You shrugged and faked a gasped. "Don't even tease the thought. I might go build a house for the needy!"
As you shared another laugh, you could feel your gut twisting.
Come on, this isn't the real me. Why am I hiding myself like this...
"Well folks, this is all we have time for, but just wait! You don't have to be psychic to know we'll be seeing a lot more of Snowflake in the future. So until next time, I hope all my beauties have a wonderful night!"
The heavy satin curtains swung shut and the blinking light meaning we were live shut off. You stood and stretched, as expected of anyone part cat, and looked at Mettaton. "Wow, that went surprisingly well!" You exclaimed.
"Beauty, surprisingly?! You must have rehearsed or something! It was wonderful! I thought you'd be much more shy in front of a crowd, but you sure were quick to come out of your shell."
"Well, after meeting a few key people, I decided i wasn't gonna let all the other monsters see me as a cowering little girl. I want to, and will be viewed as the confident performer I aim to be."
"OH MY! You truly are an inspiration!" Mettaton gushed.
"Thanks!"
He leapt up and took your wrist in hand. "Come with me. Let us go meet all your admiring fans!"
You face flushed and you shook your head. "Oh, please no. I know I just said I want to be seem as a confident person but I can't-"
"Here we go!"
Mettaton suddenly flung you into a chair and swiveled you in front of a table. He shoved a pen in your hand and slammed a stack of CDs next to you. As you looked up, you saw a vast line, stretching beyond you could see. "Ummmmm, Mettaton? I don't think we have enough, uh, CDs for all these people."
"Worry not! I have Burgerpants here to retrieve more should you run out."
You looked at the line again and gulped. "Oh my..."
As you smiled, a rush of monsters flooded past you. They all held the same comments, ranging everywhere from: "We're your biggest fans!" to "I can'y believe I'm actually meeting Snowflake!" to "Will you please sign my face?" It was an odd crowd, and you didn't remember many people, but you couldn't help but find it amusing. They all believed they loved Snowflake, but she hadn't been a person for little more than two days. How easy it was to love something. With years time, it would be just as easy to forget this name as well.
"Heya kitten, anyday now?" You next visitor said impatiently. Shaking your head, you looked to your next fan and grinned, as though practiced. "Hello there, what's your na- Frisk?!"
You looked down at Frisk as he smiled at you, holding a CD in his hands. "Hey Snowflake! You did great tonight."
"Frisk!" You chirped, leaning over the table and hugging him tightly. "I surely believed you wouldn't be attending any more shows. Isn't you friend still missing?"
His face fell slightly, but he still smiled. "Maybe we shouldn't talk about (Y/N) here, it's a bit too public, but would you mind signing this?"
You looked down at his CD and snickered. "Tell you what, How about you come by Mettaton's penthouse tonight and I'll sign it there, I'd really like to get to know you better."
His grin grew and he nodded. "Can I bring my friends?" He asked.
Thinking of Monster Kid and how he just adored the celebrities of the Underworld, you nodded. "Of course."
"Sans too?" He asked.
You hesitated, but nodded. "Yes, Gaster!Sans is welcome as well."
"Aw, I'm flattered Kitten, but I'll be busy tonight."
You looked up and saw Sans standing just beyond Frisk, looking down at you. Your expression stilled as you nodded towards him. "Gaster!Sans."
He returned the gesture with a short, "Snowflake."
You smiled, trying to cover any hints of unusual emotion and answered chipperly. "Well, it's a shame you can't come. Don't worry about Frisk getting home, I'll take care of that."
"I don't think-"
"That's sounds awesome!" Frisk interrupted. "See you tonight!"
"See ya Shorty!"
He left happily, Sans following after him after giving you a pointed look. You turned back to the line of fans and grinned, trying your best to be Snowflake.
It took hours, but eventually Mettaton stepped in and cut off the autographs and pictures. After promising you'd be back tomorrow, though once again you had no say, they left and he released you to go home.
You darted up to your home as fast as you could and retreated to your room. As you entered your room you found Flowey reading a book that you didn't remember buying. You stepped into the closet and changed into more comfortable clothes, that being a short, airy skirt and a loose fitting top. It flared at the elbow and left your shoulders exposed. You then sat at your vanity, applying your pale tone to your newly exposed skin. You went through and touched up for disguise as Flowey watched in confusion. "Hey, why are you getting dressed up?" He asked. "You shouldn't be going out in Hotlands. You'll sweat off your makeup."
"I'm not going out Flowey. I've got people coming here." You said happily, as you finished your makeup and switched to a hairbrush.
"Who's coming over? A fan or something?"
"Sorta. I invited Frisk to hang out."
"Really? Isn't it a bit early for that?"
"I don't think so. If I establish myself as a friend whose willing to help with the search for (Y/N) then they'll be less likely to suspect me. And other than that, I think being close to him will help me stay... sane, I think. Gaster's gonna be trying to make his way into my head. Sans will be looking for me constantly. I'm going to need someone close from the last reset to keep me stable."
A loud ring shook through the penthouse and you jumped up. "Flowey! Check my makeup and make sure my skin tone is consistent."
You turned quickly and he gave you the leafs up before smiling. "Looks good, but be careful. If he recognizes you it's all over."
"Got it, see ya later!"
"Good luck."
You raced from the room. Your boots clicked on the stairs as you yelled, "Coming! The doors open!"
It opened gently and you watched Frisk peaked his head around the corner of the door and he smiled at you. "Hey! I brought a few friends. You've met most of them though."
"That's alright! Just come in and get me introduced with the newbies."
He opened the door and you watched as familiar faces flooded the lobby, at least they were familiar to (Y/N). Frisk seemed a bit flustered as he stood aside and gestured to them. Those that Snowflake had met included Undyne and Gaster!Papyrus, but the rest were unfamiliar.
"Okay! Let's get on to introductions." You chimed with a wide grin.

I sat down and fastened my bonds. Resting my head back, I glanced at Alphys as she stood behind her monitor, tapping away at her keyboard.
"G!Sans, are you s-sure about this? If a-anything goes wrong you could be seriously h-hurt!" She warned.
"I'm well aware, but this could also help me find someone only two people remember. It's the only chance I have right now."
"If you're sure..."
She looked at me and nodded. I drew the visor of my contraption over my head and gave her the signal. With the snap of a lever and blinding light, I was plunged into pitch black.
