Talent Show
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaand welcome again to Force Fields. Now, pay attention. The last chapter is a whole time laps thing so we need a code word for that so I can say, 'this is before the ______' what do u think? I know! let's call it Cookie. No, Charge? maybe. How about: Jab. I like that. Ok. The last chapter's code name is called Jab. Great. Let's begin.
Before Jab:
My outfit for the talent show was plain and simple. A T-Shirt and Jeans. I was going to show the audience, and my parents, what I was capable of. Apparently, since I was born, I could do something really cool and I really wanted to show everybody. I haven't told anyone about it.
I walked down the stairs to my family awaiting for me.
"That's what you're wearing?" my dad asked. I nodded and he shrugged. My mom smiled and we entered the car , me grab in my sweatshirt, and drove to the little auditorium in which I was going to preform.
The audience was packed. I was towards the end of the show, and we were coming up to my act. One more person until I went up. I awaited nervously offstage.
As the person before me finished, I gulped and when the curtains closed, I ran on stage with my assistant. She was someone who had volunteered in my class to help and she was here anyway. She had her props in a big bag. I stood as the curtains opened.
It was like torture. All the eyes in the audience were glued to me. A small droplet of sweat ran down my cheek.
Come on, just do as you practiced.
"Hello. Tonight I will be showing you something extraordinary." I said my like as the audience watched with their poker face.
It's time.
I took a deep breath and faced my assistant (her name was Stacy by the way). I then did as I practiced almost every day. My hands moved in the air in a slow clapping motion and when I expanded them, a force field generated in front of me. It had a hint of blue glow and it waved in animation.
It was easy to hold a force field up in the air like a shield, bit probably not to others.
As the audience saw the force field, they gasped and watched in awe.
"Now, my assistant will be testing my skills by throwing the objects at me!" I said. Stacy's eyes widened from what they already had at the sight and my words. The bright lights of the stage made more sweat and heat beam down on me.
Stacy reached into the bag and pulled out a small bouncy ball. She lowered her arm and tossed the ball at me. My arms were outstretched along with my fingers making the somewhat 'magic' force field stay alive.
And of course, the force field repelled the ball and made it bounce back at her. The crowd gave a 'wow' and continued watching.
Stacy then pulled out a shoe, and tossed it at me which it also fell to the ground. The crowd was amazed as Stacy pulled out more objects growing in size and weight and tossed them at me.
Finally, the last object was a large bowling ball. I mentally prepared myself as Stacy hurled the ball at me with all her strength.
As the ball landed on the force field, I turned the wall of blue up so the face was tward the ceiling making the ball fly upwards. And as it came back down, I steadied it and gently lowered the force field to the ground and rolled the ball off of it. With lowering my hand, the force field dispersed and I faced the wide eyes and open mouthed audience. Along with Stacy.
Slowly, the audience began to clap and cheer. I managed to spot my parents who blended in with the rest of the audience. I managed to smile a small smile and the curtains closed with the best performance, according to the audience.

"That was quite an amazing performance!" My mother said as we entered the house. I set my stuff down and smiled at their praises.
"I didn't know you were magician!" My dad said. "When have you been practicing magic tricks?!" my smile faded.
"I haven't." I simply stated.
"What? then how did you do that....thing!" My dad asked. We stopped in our tracks.
"I....honestly don't know. Ever since I was little, I could do that." There was a pause.
"So you're saying it wasnt a magic trick?" my mom broke the silence.
"Then what is it?" My dad asked. There was even a longer pause, then my moms eyes widened at a realization.
"Sweetie, are you a mutant?"
There it is.
The question I have dreaded since I realized what I am.
I wanted to keep it a secret for as long as I can,
Well there goes that!
The silence answered the question. My mom gasped.
"No! why! why you can't you just be normal! Ughh, my only child is a MUTANT!" she said like it was bad on the tongue. my dad just stared at me with hatred. A lone tear streamed down my face.
"But-" I tried to speak.
"No buts, go to your room now!" My mom ordered.
"But mom, you can just-"
"Isabel, I said NOW!" She yelled at me. She was now way too close to my face. More tears streamed down and I started to head up the stairs to my room.
But i can't live with someone that doesnt love me. I really dont have anyone now. Its all because of my stupid mutation. I hate this. I dont want to live like this.
My anger piled up one thought after another. Until, I couldnt take it anymore. I rushed back downstairs and grabbed my jacket.
I ran out the back door and didnt stop running.
