It was the middle of the night.

"It's going to rain in the afternoon."

"Worse. There's going to be a storm, Lin."

Ermelinda groaned.

"We should go to the forest."

"Fish?"

"Yes."

Without warning, the two started to run.

They reached the barbed-wire fence. Amber slid under it. Ermelinda followed with a little more difficulty. The two walked together, deeper and deeper into the forest.

"Remember the nets? We could check those."

Amber nodded and crouched by the river, her hands busy untying a net Ermelinda couldn't see.

She rose.

"Four."

She passed two to Ermelinda.

"Let's go. Half an hour until sunrise."

Both disappeared amongst the trees.

The night had never been so serene, so calm.
