Chapter Twenty Five

~
After getting Asher's skittles with his money and a bottle of water for myself, I made it back down to the student section and Asher was standing behind the first row and when I saw him he greeted me with a cool smirk like he knew something I didn't.

I didn't buy it.

"Hey Lotte." I glared at him quickly pushing him to move over.

"Don't call me that jerk," and suddenly as I did, these boys began to yell at me on the other side of Asher.

"Whoa, whoa, hold it there little fella," a boy with blonde hair stopped me. "You can't sit here. Seniors only," he crossed his arms. I stared at them with a disgusted face, not wanting to understanding.

"Excuse me? This is the student section, and last I checked I was a student," I sat my stuff down anyways on the edge of Asher. Asher just laughed like he was watching a comedy movie.

"And last I checked you were an underclassmen," a different boy with brunette hair commented behind him. I huffed my breath trying to stay calm.

"Listen, I don't think I made myself clear," I looked at them in the eye. Asher's eyes widen amused, standing there. "I'm going to sit here for the sake of my best friend and because I'm a student, and to be honest I don't think you know who I am," I told them with my neck high.

"Besides a fish with a legs, who are you?" The blonde asked being smart. Everyone around us was looking at me now.

"Charlotte-"

"Charlotte who?" The brunette asked.

"Montgomery," I cocked my head with my arms crossed and straight forward again. Their eyes widen and I had to smirk.

"Wait, wait, wait, did you just say Charlotte Montgomery? Do you have a brother?" A senior with blonde hair down to her waste asked me from above. I nodded.

"Yes ma'am I have two. A spoiled booger Charlie, and my annoying older brother Connor." All the senior girls above me all went crazy, squealing and I smiled back at the boys with my arms crossed, my stuff in my seat right beside Asher. The boys who wanted me to leave were confused as they looked at me.

"Connor Montgomery? Did he graduate from here last year?" A girl with pretty curly natural black hair asked me. I nodded licking my lips not looking at them.

"Yup." They all went crazy and turned to the boys angrily.

"Y'all leave her alone! Her brother is Connor Montgomery! Like, he was the hottest, richest, smartest boy last year! He was in our college government class and he was so sweet! If you can remember he was totally nominated for homecoming king and won the votes but gave the crown to the disabled guy next in line! That was the sweetest person I've ever met!" The blonde girl pretended to cry.

"Yeah! And one day I didn't to eat breakfast and I got sick in class and after that he totally made sure I had breakfast everyday and if I didn't he'd go out his way and buy my food every morning to make sure I wouldn't pass out again and we were just friends! Truly, all the Montgomery's are a blessing! She can totally sit in the student section with us," the girl with natural black hair said. "Shut up Blake."

"You too Jacob," the blonde said. I shrugged my shoulders toward the boys as well.

"Well that is my brother," I said half heartedly rolling my eyes like it wasn't a bad deal.

I sat myself down and stood beside Asher looking at the field at Dawn who was getting prepped up for the game and the guys sighed.

"Man this is ridiculous," the blonde said looking toward the field with squinted eyes.

"For real," the other said. I let out a breath, my left arm crossed under my chest, my other arm bent, my hand in my chin, licking the inside of my teeth.

"Maybe if you left a legacy it wouldn't be," I had to say. "A good one." They looked at me as they totally didn't know what to say, and after I felt Asher looking at me with a grin he said,

"You know Charlotte?" I didn't look at him as a response but I was listening. I went and started digging in my purse for the candy he wanted.

"Hm?"

"You surprised me every time we're together you know that right?" I shrugged, forcing the skittles in his hand.

"Well...I'm happy to be your private party," I fake smiled at him putting my purse under my seat again. He laughed.

"As am I," he replied opening the skittles and dumping a whole bunch his mouth at once.

Disgusting.

It's been about a quarter into the game and all Asher and I have been talking about is the game and how the sports teams are this year. I was an expert with talking to guys and getting them to spill their little secrets about their crush, so I played it cool, so this game day wouldn't just be about Dawn, although that is why I was here.

Besides Kevin of course.

"So what exactly do you do at practice for the swim team?" I asked Asher really want to know, eating the chocolate Kevin bought for me. "Like do you just swim the whole time and like see how fast you finish laps or something, like, inform me," I pointed to my chest and kept eating the Hershey. Asher chuckled looking at the game while sucking on his skittles.

"Well since its off season, I've mostly been running the track getting ready for that. On my own, I just work out and swim in my pool in the backyard. My parents invested on it since I made the team freshmen year," he told me. I squinted my eyes looking at him.

"Oh really?" I said more in a way that I didn't believe him. He nodded.

"Yeah, they got me that pool even before I knew I made the team. I just mentioned I wanted to try out one day at dinner and my dad was like, 'We'll get you a lap pool!'" I looked at Asher as he laughed as if he remembered it like it was yesterday and he continued, "Haha! It was crazy I was just like 'Dad I don't even know if I want to do this!' And he was like, 'No son, we support you in whatever you're doing!' So all I know is the next day I woke up to these men all in my backyard giving me a pool," Asher shook his head chuckling.

I kept looking at him hiding my lips in my mouth narrowing my eyes a bit thinking about the story he just told me.

"Uuhhh Asher?" He looked at me.

"Yes?" Right after he said that, our team got a first down and everyone cheered for them but I asked him,

"Are you rich?" Asher smiled at that one although I was dead serious and needed to know. If my best friend was dating-or about to date-some a rich white boy whose a senior SHE HAD to know. Rich boys always had trickery up their sleeve, but hey, the money is nice.

"I'm not, but my parents are. Not as rich as you but better than most," he nodded.

Good enough for me to be concerned.

"Ahhh I see," I nodded looking back to the game eating my chocolate once again. "So you are."

"No," he told me with a smile looking down at me as we still stood in the bleachers.

"Yes," I said back.

"No," he said again. "And why does it matter anyway?" He asked me.

"Why do you like my best friend?" I looked at him quickly. That's not how that was suppose to come out, but I guess I had to say something eventually anyway. He gave me a perplexed look with a crooked smile and he asked,

"Dawn?" I whipped my head to him with an angry face and I said,

"Yes! Like, who else?" I wanted to know. "What? Is their some other girls we don't know about??" It's funny how I said we, and if he paid attention close enough that meant Dawn told me everything about him, but thankfully he didn't.

"No, no!" He backed himself up holding his hands out shaking them in front of me. "Haha, I like Dawn and she's the only one." I squinted my eyes at him.

"Why do you like her?" He shrugged as our teamed booed the ref for a flag being thrown.

"I don't know honestly," he told me. I stood there, waiting for a real answer with my arms crossed. "Dawn is pretty-"

"Beautiful," I corrected. He smiled down at me and I kept my serious face and he said,

"Beautiful....stunning! And what really gets me is she's on the cheer team, but she's not stuck up like the others," he looked down at them. I did too, to see Dawn right beside Aubrey doing a chant, and when they clapped their hands and moved into a huddle, they picked Dawn up to be held up by the team below her and she waved at us in the student section, making contact right at Asher and I and we waved back. I laughed and Asher waved back as well, and they threw her up and twisted her in mid air and she safely made it down, a ten out of ten.

Surprised Aubrey didn't try to break her ankles like last year.

"She isn't. Dawn's cool," I replied clapping for their routine.

"She is. When we went out early in the week for tacos, ah she was amazing. Surprise she doesn't have a boyfriend," he still looked at her as they finished the cheer with jazz hands.

"She doesn't, so make a move," I told him straight on. "She won't reject."

"I know, but, I was waiting to make a proposal for homecoming," Asher thought out loud, placing his left hand on chin. "I want it to be something original and she'll love..." he looked at me with a grin and for some reason I had to also. "Can you help me Charlotte?" He asked me. I paused before answering and I sighed saying,

"You know what Asher?" I thought tapping my chin.

He raised his eyebrow at me.

"You can just call me Lotte," I looked out to the field hiding my lips in my mouth with both my arms crossed. He looked at me as I noticed from the corner of my eye and he looked out the field too.

"Imma take that as a yes."
