Chapter Twenty Six
Chapter 26
October 17th, Saturday
~
It's Saturday evening and all day I've been doing was talking to Asher via text message and they've been flirty and fun probably from us both still hype from the game last night and our plans tonight.
The game was great by the way. During half time when we get our break from cheering, I quickly met Charlotte and Asher back in the bleachers and Lotte bought me a bottle of water and Asher gave the rest of his skittles. He showed me eating them all at once wasn't bad, although Lotte thought otherwise.
After the game, after saying bye to Lotte and letting her keep my shirt overnight, Asher walked me to my car. We didn't kiss but I thanked him for coming to the game and with all my strength and confidence, I got up on my tip toes and kissed him on his pastel pink cheeks. He left me with a goodnight kiss on my forehead and came back with a good morning text before I woke up this morning.
We haven't stopped talking yet.
I'm getting ready in my room, dancing to some music, straightening my hair thin black hair with my highlights brighter than usual, making weird faces with my lips and suddenly the doorbell rings. Thinking it was Lotte stopping by with my costume, I ask my mother whose downstairs to let her in.
"It should be Charlotte Mom, can you open the door?"
"Alright!" When she does open the door, I don't hear nothing much and I assumed she's making me go down to see her, but I was getting ready and I didn't want to be delayed. Charlotte would defiantly understand.
"Just bring her up Mom! I'm getting ready!"
Soon I hear footsteps and I assume it's her and I say as I'm looking through my make up drawers for some blush, something I never wear, but this was a occasion.
"Did the customs come in yet?" I asked when I heard her footsteps stop as she must've had to have been on my carpet. I still got no reply as I was looking through my drawers still, not finding what I was looking for. "Actually..." I thought about it. "What are you doing here? You were suppose to be meeting Kevin at the bakery...right?" I still got no reply, but instead I get a knock at my door which was odd for Lotte so I turn around quickly, only to see Jake leaning on my door frame, a notebook in his hands. I rolled my eyes back around as I finally found my blush and I asked him nonchalantly.
"What the hell are you doing here?" He laughed still standing beyond the door, looking at me through the mirror. "They're just boobs," I tell him continuing to straighten my hair as I couldn't find the blush and all I had on was my Victoria Secret bra I actually got with Lotte, and some tight black skinny jeans with a holes in both knees. "You probably seen more of this than I want to know."
"I have...actually-" he grinned at me with cool eyes, his black hair spiked to the side. It was cute on him as he looked like the typical bad boy with him still leaned on my door frame, but I didn't show I cared.
"Jake what do you want?" I caught him off walking over to my closet. "I'm getting ready for my date with Asher."
"I know you are Kit-Kat, but I just wanted to stop by before you go." He was still before my door frame like he was waiting for me to say to come in and when I grabbed a cute green shirt, I turned to him and covered my body and asked,
"This?" He squinted his eyes.
"Nah. Too modest." I sighed going back into the closet throwing it on the bed.
"And why did you want to stop by?" I asked him still looking. I imagine him shrugging.
"Just to say hello."
I knew something was iffy about all that and I wanted him to crack the truth, so I pulled out another shirt that was white with laces around the wrist and neck and I put it up to my body turning to him again. He titled his head this time.
"More for a dinner date," he told me. I groan throwing it on the bed as well and I turned back to my closet, but this time I turned my head back to Jake and I finally confirmed,
"You can come in..." he smiled and strutted his way over to my circular bed and I went back in my closet, on my tiptoes looking. "And tell me the truth Jake," I added not looking at him. He decided to play dumb.
"What truth-"
"What do you really want?" I turned back around to him holding a blue and grey flannel I bought from the mall yesterday, and I turned back to Jake and he nodded once at it and traced his eyes up to mine and I sighed, "Thank you," going back over to my vanity finishing my hair. Jake looked at me through the mirror but I didn't mind him, waiting for him to speak.
"To help me write some more of that song-"
"Oh brother," I rolled my eyes.
"But-"
"Seriously Jake? In my own house?" Jake chuckled looking down at himself but I was serious, as I was holding a piece of hair in my mouth trying to straighten the part under it.
"BUT-" he wanted to continue. I let him shaking my head. "This isn't for Celeste. It's the other song I never finished." I turned to him, taking that other piece and straightening it.
"The one about the girl who didn't know she was beautiful?"
Jake nodded with his eyes closed and he looked back at me and I turned back around to the mirror standing up.
"So," I said playing with with my hair, kind of teasing up the roots to make my hair look as if I have more volume. "What about it? What's the last thing you wrote?" Jake kind of stared at me before he opened his notebook and flipped through the pages, as he did so, I didn't like how was looking and I sighed, finished my make up, even though it was already finished.
"Well the last thing that happened was that the girl just made it to the school dance with no date and the boy noticed she went in alone," he told me reading his notebook.
"Eek," I said shaking my head with a disgusted face. "So cliche, but I assume you're an amateur so continue," I nodded once at him. He chuckled kind of embarrassed and I almost regretted saying that, but then again it's Jake. So I didn't.
"Anyways, I know you told me to have a bad ending but I don't know how bad it should be." I thought about it as Jake was looking at me through my vanity mirror. I was trying to make my mascara less clumpy, and as he watched me apply the mascara I mentioned,
"Actually I have a better idea," I told him blinking at myself obsessively making sure every eyelash had it's on definition. He squinted eyes.
"Like what?" After I finished, I got up and went over to my bed like I was walking toward him and he stared at me kind of astonished but I just grabbed the blue and grey flannel from beside him and walked to my body mirror.
"Maybe the girl simply doesn't find an interest him, or there's another guy he doesn't know about," I told him studying my black skinny jeans in the mirror, making sure my curves I barely had were being defined as much as they could. Jake looked at me through the mirror.
"Yeah but...I don't know, that seems...cliche," he had to add being iffy. I turned around to him quickly with an ignorant sigh and he smiled me, getting the exact response he wanted.
"Well I don't know make her a lesbian or something," I slapped my hands on my thigh. "That's a plot twist." Jake laughed.
"This is a song, not a novel," he tried to correct me. As I turned around putting the flannel on, messing with my boobs before I button the shirt, I turned back around Jake who was already looking at me, but I ignored it and replied with a grin,
"But shouldn't the song tell a story?" He squinted his eyes at me, his lips reflecting and said,
"Touché Kit-Kat." I shrugged.
"The mind of an author," I tapped my temple. Jake smiled at me and a chuckled a bit turning around to my closet. I went inside and came out with two pairs of shoes. Some classic Adidas sneakers or some cute black sandals. I should Jake and he pretended to think about it with narrow eyes and his hand on his chin and he nodded pointing to the Adidas.
"That one." I nodded with a grin of acceptance.
"I thought so." As I put them on neither of us said anything and afterwards I grabbed my black designer cross body, and when I stepped out I stood in front of Jake so he could see the full finished look of me as I shrugged with my hands up wanting his approval.
He smiled up at me and sighed standing up and he walked forward to me placing his thumb on his chin as if he was really thinking about it. He eventually nodded, looking down at me and back up and he said,
"Beautiful as I must say Kit Kat." I looked at him a second but then rolled my eyes.
"Oh whatever. You're just saying that cause it's part of the deal," I walked away to my vanity. Jake laughed.
"No it's not Kit-Kat, I wouldn't lie to you," he told me. I turned around quickly on that one, and smiled with a shrug. "All truth," he raised his right hand. I had to smile still rolling my hands with groan.
"Whatever, but I need to be going. Movie starts in 40," I put on some nude pink lips gloss. Jake hesitated.
"What about my song?" He really wanted to know. I brushed him off, fixing some fly-a-ways on my head.
"I can help you later," I tell him.
"But I want to finish it," he protest seriously.
"I gave you suggestions!"
"I need help executing them!"
"Just write!" I'm yelling at him.
"I can't-"
"Yes you can-"
"No I can't Kit-Kat-" he's more anxious.
"Jake it's not that bad. Just write something down and if it sucks start over. That's what writers do," I tell him strictly gathering my stuff into my purse.
"But I'm not a writer, I can't-"
"Jake, yes you can-"
"I can't write as good as you!" He blurted out. I stare at him as were literally face to face, inches from each other and I can practically feel his breath... He sighs at me, blinking slowly looking right into my brown eyes. "I can't write as good as you...."
I didn't know what to say. Jake seemed very sincere.
Despite our love hate relationship, Jake never admitted anything like this to me before. I was a good writer, but for someone like him who hates reading and is a total jock, hearing that from him meant it was truth.
And he wanted my help.
Desperately.
"We're going to have a session tomorrow morning at 9am," I tell Jake with a straight face right before the entrance of my room. "Meet me at my doorstep at 8:55am and I'll help you."
Afterwards, I turn around and turn the light off to my room and Jake follows me and as I'm half way down the stairs he ask me,
"Where are we going?" I turn back to him, my right hand on the rail and I say softly with a shrug,
"Our secret hide out."
