Tyler's POV
Sometimes I really hate my brother. I specifically told him NOT to eat all the fruit snacks since I bought them for myself. What does he do?
He eats all the damn fruit snacks.
So, that's why I'm now angrily walking my way through Target to the snack aisle, when all I really wanted to be doing was playing my uke or some Smash Brothers on my old Nintendo 64. Is that too much to ask?
Apparently so.
I turned the corner into the aisle and immediately scanned the shelves for my favorite ones. I was going to hide them somewhere in my room this time.
I spotted them, but there was only one box left. I walked forward to grab them, but at the exact same time I grabbed the box, another hand grabbed the other side.
I looked up to a see a pale guy around my age with curly brown hair that had been shaved into an unruly mohawk.
I looked dead into his brown eyes, trying to silently communicate to him that he needed to let go of the box, because it was mine, but that didn't work. He just stared right back at me, not relaxing his grip. Finally, I broke the tense silence.
"Excuse you, but I had them first," my irritation showed through my words. I normally try not to be mean to strangers, but I just had no patience left today.
"Excuse you sir, but I've had a really sucky day today, and these are the one thing that I really want. Also I believe I had the box before you came along with your death grip. Now please, let the snacks go."
He spoke in a fake sweet voice, and at the end of the sentence he gave the box a tug, catching me off-guard and causing me to let the box slip out of my grasp.
"Hey!" I shouted as I reached for the box, but the man took a couple steps backwards.
"Give those back; I had them first, fair and square. I don't care how bad your day was, it doesn't excuse you from general manners and kindness. Now, hand me the box." I demanded. This guy was really getting on my nerves.
"No." he said matter-of-factly.
"Excuse me; I think I didn't hear you right. Did you say no?" I asked in incredulousness, was this guy serious?
"You bet your bratty little ass I did. Good day to you."
Oh this guy has some nerve, and he just sealed his fate. After that comment I WILL take those fruit snacks from him, one way or another.
I grabbed onto his shoulder and spun him back around to face me. He threw the box into his cart behind him. I tried to reach around for it, but the guy had the audacity to slap my hand away like an infant.
"Did you really just slap my hand?" I asked.
"You ask a lot of questions about things I say and do. Maybe you should go get your eyes and ears checked bud."
What.
"Don't call me bud!"
"I'll call you whatever the hell I want to bud." He ground out.
I was caught off guard as he randomly threw a roll of paper towels at my head. It didn't hurt, but it definitely didn't help the situation. A small smirk made its way on his face.
He's attractive, I'll give him that, but he's being an asshole. I let out a sigh and ran my hand through my hair, a habit I've had for awhile now.
"Just give me the damn box." I said, trying my hardest to not hit the guy.
"What part of 'no' do you not understand? Just give it up dude."
"Fine, fine. I'll let you go ruin someone else's day." I said, turning around like I was going to walk away.
I didn't think this would work, but it did well enough. He went to grab a few other things off of the shelf. While his back was turned, I crept over to his cart, but right as I was reaching for the box he turned back around.
"Hey!" he yelled as he walked back over. I quickly grabbed the box and took a couple steps back.
"Give those back." He demanded.
"No," I answered. He reached for the box, but I held it out behind me where he couldn't reach it and took another step back. He grabbed at it again, but I simply took another step back. I was now pushed right against his cart.
We stood there just staring eachother down before he surprised me. He lunged forward for the box, effectively knocking both of us backwards into the cart. He landed on top of me, his heavily muscled body squishing my thin lanky one.
"Hey! Get off of me, this is assault!" I shouted as I squirmed around. I was having a little trouble breathing.
The guy seized this opportunity to grab the box out of my hand before clambering out of the cart. Once he had regained his balance, he grabbed the push handle of the cart and shoved it hard. The cart went squeaking down aisle with me still in it.
I really, really hate this guy.
Thanks to the messed up wheel, the cart didn't go that far. It pitched sideways and ran straight into the shelf. Since that stupid guy wasn't on top of me anymore, I had little trouble getting out of the cart and on my feet. I immediately started running towards the front of the store, praying that this was the direction he went as well.
I poked my head out of an aisle and grinned when I saw he was going to run right past me. I took a couple steps back and prepared myself. He's gone to run past in three, two, one...bingo!
I launched myself at him, knocking him sideways and sending us both sliding along the floor. Once we came to a halt, I started to grab for the fruit snacks, but he held the box just out of my reach.
"Get off of me you psychopath!" he shouted, just making me chuckle a little. Suddenly someone grabbed my underneath my arms and hauled me up to a standing position.
I looked back and it was one of the store security guards. They weren't your usual rent-a-cop security guards, these guys were buff and meant business. I watched as another one pulled the fruit snack thief up too. We explained ourselves, and they did not look too impressed to say the least
I was immediately escorted out of the store, but as I looked back I saw they were actually letting that guy go buy the gummies! I'd rather neither of us have them!
The security guard shoved me out of the store, I stumbled a few steps before catching myself. I turned around to glare at the man, but he had already gone back inside.
A smile spread across my face; I have an idea. I ran over to one of the cart stalls and pulled one out before going back to the front of the store. I stood off to the side, so when the man comes out he won't see me.
A few moments passed, and then I saw him. He had a smug grin on his face as he walked into the parking lot. I was about to wipe that grin right off.
I started pushing the cart like you would a skateboard and it was aimed right at the back of the fruit snack thief. The cart got closer and closer, and right before it collided with his back I jumped off. He let out a squeak of surprise as he went tumbling down to the ground, the cart falling over on top of his legs.
I felt kind of bad, I had hit him harder than I meant to, but now was not the time for sympathy. I ran over, scooped the bag up off the ground, then started running back towards my car before he could get up and follow me.
I couldn't help but laugh due to the feeling of victory bubbling up in my chest. I heard a shout behind me.
"I'll get you Fluffy, you little bastard!"
I let out a loud laugh at that. Fine then, if I'm Fluffy, then you're Thief. You put up a good fight Thief, but everyone knows brain wins over brawn.
