Chapter 6
You, Ed, and Al were traveling deep in a hot desert. You wore your uniform bottoms, with your uniform top wrapped around your waist, and a tight black T-shirt, with your (h/l) (h/c) hair in a bun. Over your clothes you had on a long hooded cloak. (Ed and Al look the same as usual).
So anyway you were following Ed as he trudged through the sand looking half dead. You didn't seem to mind for some reason.
"I hate deserts!" Ed groaned, dripping with sweat. "It's nothing but sand." He flopped on the sand, stopping you in your tracks. "If there was grass I could turn it into bread. I'm starving!" He whined.
You then scanned your surroundings on where you were but all you saw was sand, sand, and more sand. But you noticed that someone was missing from your group and so did Ed.
Ed sat up from the sand and searched around him.
"Hey Al, where'd you go?! Al!! HEY!!" Ed called out but Al was no where to be seen.
"Down here!" Al called back, which got Ed confused then his hand emerged from the sand and grabbed Ed's leg, scaring him half to death. "I sunk again..." he spoke.
You just stared at the two and blinked your deep (e/c) eyes, with a calm expression.
"Number 2 why I hate the desert." Ed growled, then he and you dug Al out of the sand, him panting while you stared at Al. "I don't understand why you keep falling in!" He yelled, giving his younger brother a annoyed anime look.
"I get full." Al answered.
"Full of what?!" Ed shouts then kicks Al's armor, sand pouring out all over him.
You blinked at what just happened.
Al chuckled and began scooting away, followed by the pile of sand exploding from Ed with fury. He growled then chased his little brother around you in circles.
"Get back here!" Ed shouts.
"What are you going to do?!" Al shouts back.
"Nothing!" Ed replied.
"Then why are you chasing me?" Al accused.
"Stop and you'll find out!" Ed demanded.
"I promise I won't get buried again." Al spoke.
"Not unless it's by me!" Ed threatened.
You witnessed the two brothers behavior, and tilted you head a little to the side, giving them a blank look.

Finally you and the boys arrived at a town in the middle of the desert, filled with lively people. There were statues everywhere, a Greek looking man holding a staff that looked like a sun or star.
Ed was still dragging his feet, growling to himself. Al followed behind him and you did the same but people started to stare at the 3 of you. All they see is a shorty, a walking armor, and a hooded figure.
"You ok, brother?" Al asked with concern.
"It's your fault for not stopping when I said." Ed growled, his veins on his head popping.
"You wouldn't stop either if someone were chasing you." Al argued.
"Shut up! I'm too tired to fight!" Ed sneered. "Water...I can almost hear it." Ed whined.
"Ah. Edward." You spoke out and pointed at a large water fountain that was only 5 steps away.
"AH! WATER!" Ed cried as he took off after it, happy as can be.
"Brother wait!" Al called out.
"His attitude changed rather quickly." You commented.
"Yeah...that's my older brother." Al sweat dropped, then you both ran after him.
"WATER WATER WATER WATER WATER WATER!!!" Ed cheered as he leaped towards the fountain. "Huh?" He caught himself and stared at the water with a pouty look on his face.
The water looked like a darker color of blood.
"Guess this explains the nasty stench in the air." Ed commented as you can Al caught up.
"What's wrong?" Al asked, then noticed the water as well as you.
You leaned in and cupped the water in your hands, the brothers examining it.
"Is it blood?" Al asked, leaning close to you.
"Nope. More like blood red wine." Ed answered then sighed.
You then leaned in and sipped the liquid. Ed and Al gasped.
"Yeah. It's wine." You said then shook your hands to dry while the brothers sweatdropped.
"Hey! Get away from there! You know that's off limits to kids!" A man wearing a dark green shirt, tan pants, a red hat and a white apron.
He grabbed Ed's collar and held him up like a child getting caught.
{Timeskip}
You and the brothers were sitting at a bar with the same man that caught you, standing behind the counter laughing.
"Hahaha you're out-of-towners! That explains it, you'll have to forgive me. I thought you were trying to sneak a little sip." The man laughed.
"Fountain stocked with free wine, it's pretty ritzy! This town must be loaded!" Ed commented, sipping his orange juice.
"Yeah we do alright here. Oh! I almost forgot. Time for a little soul foo." (I think I spelled that wrong) the man finished washing a cup then turned on his radio, peaceful music leaking through the speaker.
You and the boys noticed that everyone around you were listening to the radio at the same time. The music filled the entire town.
"Children of god who live upon this land, pray in faith and ye may be saved. As sun lights the day, so does the Sun God Leto illuminate thy path..." a man's voice spoke from the radio.
"Well that's freakish." Ed commented, going back to sipping his juice.
"Some kind of religious broadcast." Al added.
"Your buddy's in a suit of armor, you're wearing gloved and he's (you) wearing a hooded cloak in the desert and you call us freaks?" The man argues, placing his hands on his hips.
No one argued back, all you hear is Ed slurping away at his juice. The man examined you and the boys looking suspicious.
"What's your deal anyway? You street performers?" He guessed, causing Ed to sit out his juice.
"I don't think so, pops. Do I look like a clown to you?" Ed glared at him, veins popping in his head.
"Well, you must have some reason to journey out this far." The man replied.
"We're just trying to track something down, that's all." Ed answered. "Now who is this guy on your airwaves?" He asked changing the subject.
"Why, that's Sir Cornello." The man answered proudly.
"Huh...doesn't ring a bell." Ed commented.
"You're kidding me! You've never heard of the great prophet Cornello?" The man gasped in shock.
"What's great about him?" Ed asked, rolling his eyes.
"He can perform miracles for one thing. I've never seen anything like it." A bald man chimed in the conversation.
"Miracles...huh." you thought to yourself.
"This town was a god-forsaken dust bowl before Cornello got here and transformed it into a desert paradise." Chimed in another.
"Cornello can even forgive sins."
"Yeah, we're on the Sun gods good side 'cause of him...He gives us blessings!"
More and more men began to gather around you and the boys yapping about how great this Cornello guy is.
"Oh...I just remembered. We have to be somewhere." Ed covered his ears in annoyance then smiled at you and Al. "Ready to split?" He got up from his seat.
"Yeah, okay." Al nodded, as he stood up along with you, his helmet hit the roof, causing the radio to fall off and break into a thousand pieces. "Oops." Al muttered.
"Now you've done it, buddy...what do you expect wearing a stupid tin suit?" The man growled.
"Don't bust a lung, grandpa, we can fix it." Ed assured him.
"It's in a thousand pieces!"the man argued.
"I'm sorry...let me try." Al bowed then pulled out a piece of chalk and drew a type of sign around the broken radio on the ground.
"That drawing...what's it for?" The man asked.
"A transmutation circle." You answered as you sat back down in your seat, watching the whole thing.
"Okay. Here goes." Al breathed the held his hands over top the circle, a blue spark formed, surrounding the radio then exploded, smoke filling the air.
Once the smoke lifted, the radio was good as new. The Cornello guy was still on air like the device didn't even break from the start. All the men gasped in astonishment.
"It's really a land of prophets! You're buddy can work miracles like Cornello." The man leaned over his bat counter in awe.
"It's nothing like that." Ed spoke, giving him a crooked smile.
"It's science. We're alchemists." Al explained, giving back the man's radio.
"We're the Elric brothers. And that there is our friend... (Name). Shes also an alchemist. Not to brag or anything, but we're pretty well known." Ed proclaimed.
"Elrics...not familiar." A man commented.
"We don't have any alchemists in these parts." Another added.
"I fix things for a living, though. Let me know of you need a job." Another spoke.
"They don't need any work. That's Edward Elric, the Full Metal Alchemist. He's been a celebrity around East City. They say he's a real child prodigy. And that's (Name) Hughes, the Siren Alchemist. She can use alchemy by the sound of her voice." Said a mysterious cloaked woman, giving you and the boys a smirk.
The group of men crowded around you and Al, leaving Ed put of the picture. "Wow! A real, live, famous person!" They said in awe.
"Can you really do alchemy just by using your voice?" A man asked, leaning in to get a good look at your hidden face.
"I see, you got the name Full Metal 'cause you wear that armor!" Said another.
"Uh, I'm not the Full Metal Alchemist. He is." Al confessed, pointing at his brother.
"Huh? You mean that little shorty there?" The men asked, pointing out Ed.
Then there goes Ed as he grabbed the two men and hawled them around in circles. His facial expression full of fury.
"Shorty? Could a shorty do this? What else you wanna call me? A half-inch bean-sprout midget? I'm still growing, you back-water desert idiots!" Ed shouts.
"I see there's plenty of excitement around here today." Giggled a feminine voice.
"Ahh! Rose!" The bar keeper smiled.
You all gazed at the beautiful woman named Rose. She had dark tan skin, was wearing a long peach colored dress, her dark reddish-violet hair was to her lower back and her bangs were a lighter pink. She smiled at you three in the most sweetest way.
"Don't mind me. I'd hate to spoil all the fun." Rose chuckled a bit, facing you and the Elric brothers.
"That's okay. My name's Alphonse Elric. Nice to meet you." Al bowed in respect.
"And I'm Edward, Al's older brother. Also known as the Full Metal Alchemist." Ed threw the men he was beating up aside and pointed to himself.
"Older brother? But shouldn't it be the other way around?" Rose replied in confusion, that caused Ed to shake with anger while Al tried to calm him down.
You came up to her and let down your hood. All the men, even the Bar tender and Rose were astonished by your looks.
"My name is (Name) Hughes. It's a pleasure to meet you." You said with a bow, giving her a blank look.
"Eh? O-oh yeah its very nice to meet you!" Rose jumped then bowed to you.
"Wow that one is quite a looker, isn't she?" Mutter one of the men.
"Yeah yeah, she's so cute. With her and Rose combined, double cute!" Cheered another one but silently.
Ed could hear the conversation next to him and it made him sweatdrop.
"Man, are we going to have this type of crowd everytime we go places with her?" Ed sighed to himself, scratching the back of his head.
"Hey Rose...have you finished your shopping for today's offering?" The bar tender asked.
"Yeah." Rose replied as she held a bag of groceries close to her chest.
"Well then, maybe you could take them to temple with you. They say they're looking for something. I bet Father Cornello could help out. You know, have them ask for God's grace." The bar tender insisted.
"That's okay. We don't really..." Al waved his hands in front of him.
"It's all right if you don't have an offering today. And besides, he has rooms for travelers. You could stay there tonight." Rose added.
"Thanks, but, uh..." Al tried to refuse.
"As a matter of fact, we'd love to take you up on that. Wouldn't we, Al?" Ed butted in with a smile.
"We would? You mean you want to?" Al asked, confused.
Ed nodded.
"(Name)." Ed looked over at you and you nodded.
Off you three went to follow Rose to the temple.
"Hey...do you guys remember that woman at the shop?" Ed asked you and Al. "She knew me. Have we met before?" Ed asked, remembering that mysterious hooded woman. "And she knew you (Name). Do you know her?" He asked.
"No." You replied plainly.
"Ugh." Ed sweatdropped. "Of course you wouldn't know her. You really famous in a lot of countries. Wouldn't expect you to know all the fans you have." Ed commented, remembering those men talking about you and Rose.
You looked at Ed and tilted your head to the side a little in confusion.
"You shouldn't worry." Rose spoke up, catching you and the Elric brothers attention. "I'm sure Cornello will help you find what you're looking for. And besides...if you show him you're faithful I bet he could make you taller!" Rose teased Ed.
Ed's eyes grew dark as well as his face, his veins popping with anger.
"What's wrong with you people! I'm not short! You come from a desert tribe of giants or something?" Ed yelled, chasing after Rose.
"Edward, please." Al chased after his brother.
"What? You want some of this too?!" Ed threatened.
You stayed behind as you stopped in your tracks. Something about this town is ominous. You could see the temple from where you stood and gazed at it.
"Strange..." you muttered to yourself.
"Hey! (Name)! Quit day dreaming and get over here!" Ed called out to you.
"Okay." You replied and ran to catch up with the boys and Rose.
